Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar8

It's a bit slow and the campaign has some flaws, but I found it quite fun and immersive with a very beautiful map. You'll definetely feel that conquering ancient Gaul took determination and patience. I'd say 7.7/10

A fun strategy game, very atmospheric. While its sequel Hegemony 3 has some better developed mechanics and graphics, this is still a classic. It has its very own unique charm about it and has been very much worth my time and money.

A great expansion for a great game! Adding the Sicily map to the sandbox and adding some naval mechanics makes the naval game so much more interesting. The Pyrrhus campaign is great, but the invasion sandbox gives it re-playability.

This is a hardcore survival game with that certain indie charm. If you can do without great graphics and feel comfortable controlling everything with your keyboard, then its worth having a look at it. It's in fact a labour of love and I hugely appreciate this. Me, I have to concede, never really succeeded playing and my character kept dying. But man did I try! And I'll come back trying again after I have recovered strength playing some other more relaxing games. In summary my rating is due to: -1 because antiquated graphics -2 because only keyboard control (this **** the most for me) -1 because of such a inordinately steep learning curve (lack of tutorial, lack of easy mode,....) Nevertheless, it's a nice little game well worth trying and doesn't require to spend a huge budget. In fact, I've heard there are ways to get it for free, but I bought it anyway, hoping the developer will invest in mouse control ...:-)

A Masterpiece! A game with countless opportunities form strategy RTS to national RPG to history simulator, it spans a wide array of tates and play styles. The replayability is immense, the music superb - the only real downside is that it becomes harder for the developers to think of something deserving to be added via DLC.

Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients10

A very good hard core strategy game.
-0.5 because it doesn't come with the graphics of a Total War Rome 2.
-0.5 because it doesn't come with the multiple mechanical systems of a Imperator Rome or Fields of Glory Empires.
If you can do without that or can wait for Longbow to add stuff via updates and DLC (which they will ultimately, you know "the heart is where the money is"...), then this game may be for you. But be warned, the start is challenging! You'll probably need to watch a few tutorials, before you get it, since this is not an easy recreational map painting game. Going into this game, trying to play it like Total War will ensue in failure.
