A huge upgrade to the first game, which delivered on all negatives that arose in the previous installment. The new weapon-system is clearly better and very easy to understand. All main and side-missions feel very fresh. The **** of the mako parts leads to a better playing experience. The new cast of characters are mostly interesting and lead to fun and engaging sequences. I love that the shopping and interacting hub was now split up into multiple hubs which lead to easier access and more immersion. All collecting mission of the first part have been **** which was very nice. But there are also some problems, the last mission is not that great, the scanning for materials was tedious and boring, some of the crew members could have been **** and because of the lack of mobility and speed in the battle sequences, the main shooting and skills game-play got a little bit stale in some parts. But the huge positives in dialog and world building from the first game got even improved. This is nearly perfect and i'm highly anticipating to play the third game in the series.

It is really good for the first part of a series and the positives out weight the negatives. You can see that the potential is there for a great game. Highlights are the dialog, dialog option system and the world building. Most of the design is also very excellent and the graphics have not aged to bad. The negatives lie with the weapon collection system, the mako sections and the repeating level structures. Most of the time you find way to much different weapons that are not different from each other and the selling part is very tedious. The mako sections are so boring and overly stretched. Most of the main missions had to have a mako part, which is very unnecessary. Mostly the side missions are very repetitive in building structure and design, which leads to boring side missions. Overall a very promising start to a franchise. Sadly doesn't hold up that well for multiple play troughs, but it was nice as a one time experience.

I might be a little bit biased, because i think most of my fun with this game comes from the nostalgia that i got. I played it when i was around 12-14 and the game still has the same appeal. The only difference is that with 12 years old, i mostly cheated my way through the game. And now i can see the appeal of the real gameplay. The gameplay loop is fun and quickly addicting. Even the replay value is high because of the different factions. But the game also has many unbalanced parts and if a playthrough goes on to long, the fun is quickly diminished. Overall it‘s probably only a fun time for people who played it when it came out, because we now got similar newer games that have a way better execution of the same concept.
