I have played this game for 532 hours, but I will never go back to it. Which is beyond sad. The game seemed to have a lot of potential, but the lifting of the veil that has occured recently shows us the true nature of why never that potential was properly unleashed. It's all dishonest practices and monerygrabbing and now a sellout to the communist party of China, which now indirectly owns this game. While the construction in Empyrion is impressive, it's riddled with odd choices and problems. Planets wrap around and are not really globes. You can't build near the poles. NPCs and creatures look/are basically an asset flip, this was even more so in the beginning of the game; but it was never fleshed out. The developer has partnered with Tencent (via funcom) and this is horrible; The earlier fallout is Taelyn (the lone dev?) banning anyone who is negative or critical about the game, to the extent where many people are now afraid to provide any feedback out of fear for the possible **** current fallout is that there is now a DLC that will unbalance the game, disadvantaging anyone not paying **** future fallout is, without a doubt, that this game becomes pay-to-win. This has always happened with any game developer that has partnered with the Devil that funcom, tencent, the Chinese Communist party who owns tencent, are.

This game has had excellent appeal during its Beta and Alpha stages, and I absolutely love the freedom of exploring planets and stuff. HOWEVER level design in challenges that have since been introduced give it an almost "rogue'-like appeal. I absolutely detest this, and this prevents me from enjoying the game that I know is stuck behind these extremely, extremely, frustrating and punitive challenges. I will never play that game, and I will never forgive Chucklefish for this.

I stopped pre-ordering games, and I consciously chose to purchase this game despite the negative reviews, and in spite of my skepticism about the game's ambitiousness. It was a good choice. I honestly enjoy exploring planets, mining stuff for money, exploring caves. I've used grenades to entrench myself to survive extreme planet conditions. Use a bunny-hop-reminiscent technique with the jet-pack. Space combat is more fun, and faster paced, than it was in elite dangerous. Downsides are that the game is somewhat dumbed down to be 'easier' in some regards, landing/flying the ship makes it feel like it is on a rail, when you're trying to fly low. Trading is not really very useful since quantities when buying are low and prices unpredictable. It is exceedingly difficult to fly back to a place you've been before. And the UI could use work to become better. Also, the optimization may require manual tweaks to be good. None of these downsides seem insurmountable, and are what I expected after reading reviews.

My favorite game since 2012, 1006 hours played, greatly boosted my comprehension of astrodynamics. Visited all celestial bodies. Used Hohman transfers, warp engines, Oberth effect, boosters, ion engines, ISRU. Zeppelins, performed rendez-vous, docking.. aero-braking, flew around kerbin, performed aerial acrobatics for fun, landed on top of the buildings.. Designed hundreds of vessels, etc. I do not see the end of my playing this game anywhere in the near future.

As an Elder Scrolls fan and player of MMO's I am disappointed in this game in both aspects. I nearly stopped playing immediately, but continued. The recent craiglorn patch has made things even worse, unfortunately. Main negative aspects: -Many bots, even on the higher maps and strong reliance on the client for security. There is no focus on removing this problem. -Laggy combat; laggiest that I have ever seen in an MMO. (I played SWTOR, Flyff and some others) -No way to effectively grind; 2 exp per enemy when grinding, 50 when you kill a lone enemy, or a continuous 20 exp per kill when grinding with 2 players. That is insane. -Only 5 hotbar-able skills that me long back to SWTOR, when I strung many skills together -Few if any buffs for healers to cast on teammates. -Main positive aspects: -Good, spoken, dialogues on many if not all characters. -Interesting quests, very few repetitive 'kill X of Y' or Gather 'X of Z' quests. -Familiar TES environments The main 'distinguishing' feature combat and gameplay wise from other MMO's is that you need to aim and can miss. However, I find this a large downside, since it is hard to play this way and far more straining on your mouse arm.
