Silent Hill: Townfall

Silent Hill Townfall stands out for its exceptional atmosphere, near-flawless level design, and a mature, human story that is deeply integrated into the game world. Its puzzles are particularly outstanding: varied, challenging, and seamlessly connected to both the narrative and the **** audiovisual presentation is surprisingly impressive for an AA production, featuring photorealistic visuals, highly detailed environments, and an outstanding sound and musical design. The horror works especially well thanks to its constant tension and organic moments of danger, avoiding an overreliance on jump scares.Although the combat and certain enemy encounters could use more polish, these are secondary aspects in an experience that excels through its cohesion, atmosphere, narrative, and design.

I don’t understand all the hate towards the game or Insomniac Games. This is a Wolverine game, and I genuinely felt like Wolverine throughout the entire experience. They’ve done an incredible job with it. Technically, it’s one of the most cutting-edge games of this console generation. The combat is brutal, entertaining, and impactful on the controller (at least on the higher difficulties). It’s not trying to be deep, just like the classic God of War games on PS2 weren’t trying to be deep either; they were trying to give you the feeling of being an absolute beast. Marvel’s Wolverine does exactly that with Logan. The story may have its issues, but it’s good. Let’s be honest: no adaptation of the character has ever had a brilliant plot. However, you can definitely feel that this is a superhero story centered around Logan. As for how linear and guided the game is, I think people have gotten carried away by this hate spiral surrounding the game and aren’t seeing what’s actually there. The blue trail is used when Logan is tracking something, and those sections aren’t meant for you to simply follow it. They’re meant to let you take advantage of Logan’s parkour during the so-called “Traversals” and experiment with moving around like an animal. That said, the game isn’t perfect, but neither is any game. They didn’t lie to us either. I think they delivered exactly what they said they would, and exactly what I expected from it. You’re going to end up killing a company that genuinely loves what it does and consistently makes great games.

I don’t understand the excessive hate toward one of the most spectacular multiplayer war shooters of the last decade. The online experience is fun, immersive, and visually stunning—not to mention it probably has some of the best optimization we’ve seen in years. My only real complaint is the blatant attempt to oversell me a game for which I already paid full price ($70). Even so, they present a roadmap with free content released almost monthly or quarterly, a portal for creating maps and experiences, and additional game **** what you’re looking for is immersive military action without it needing to be a full-on mil-sim, this is your game—the best Battlefield since Battlefield 1. Either people are incredibly impatient or they’re never satisfied. I just don’t get it.

ARC Raiders

The game borders on perfection within its genre and sets a new precedent for multiplayer titles. Great lore, solid mechanics, impressive graphics, Solo Q, Duo and Trio modes, classic extraction-shooter missions, skill trees, and an exquisite, suffocating AI from the ARC—plus a community filled with both amazing people and utterly heartless traitors. This game delivers situations and moments that are practically impossible to replicate in any other multiplayer experience. I’m glad Embark Studios managed to strike gold here, since their previous game, The Finals, is another multiplayer title I loved, despite what I consider to be an undeserved reception. Highly recommended—Arc Raiders definitely makes it onto my GOTY list this year.
