Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn8
Dec 26, 2013
Excellent MMO. If you like the idea of an MMO, buy this! You will like it. very detailed, entertaining, designed, and the combat is great. It sounds minor but actually have to move and time the combat adds so much more to it then just standing, pressing the same button over and over. The Hunters Log book is great when bored to grab a few extra levels! The cities and character design is amazing. They look and feel very real and alive. And of course the story is interesting and not a bore. It feels like you are just playing another great FF game, not an online one! One word of warning. You need a good PC setup to be able to enjoy the game properly.

Football Manager 20142

Doesn't deserve the high rating. It is better then FM 13 but that wasn't hard to beat. SI Games and Football Manager seem to be on a cycle. Every few versions is a full, good game. So FM 12 was very good, 13 was "OK" but the match engine let it down, FM 14 is clunky, still has match engine issues and really bad bugs. Imagine not being able to offer more then £1 per week wages, despite being £500 under your wage budget, yes it's still not been sorted. Imagine you like to play a journeyman save, starting unemployed with a low reputation but on FM 14 you can't get any job at all, still!. SI seem to care more for the match engine and fancy graphics, then the core game now. You can see the update notes "300 match engine tweaks, 30 game fixes" for example. SI need some competition, and I think that other companies shouldn't be scared to try as they could be easily competed against.

If you like FPS that make you think and not just run and gun, this game could be for you. It is worthy of more than a 76 rating. The game is made for eSports. It is made for people to compete, using skill and precision, not run and gun, such as your Battlefield/Call of Duty types. You can't play the way you would play them for example. You have to think, learn the maps, conserve your ammo and outsmart the opponent. Elite is a very addictive game mode! It needs more players but in time people should notice that the game is very interesting and rewarding.

Supreme Ruler 20208

If you like military, political, conquering the world type strategy games, this one is a must try! Not everybody likes the graphical style (I don't) or interface (I really don't) but you can get used to these things when you realised how fun the game is. There are a few minor problems, but nothing game breaking. You can play campaign with set goals, or sandbox mode and do as you please. The game is more based on "build build build, go to war" but at a slow and intelligent pace. You can be diplomatic, sign treaties, spy, advance technologically better then your enemies for example. But its ultimately a war game at heart.

League of Legends5
Dec 26, 2013
In the battle of DOTA2 v League of Legends League of Legends wins my vote. The game looks nice, runs great on a wide variety of machines. The tutorial sets you up nicely knowing how to play a basic game. The leveling and leagues are fair, although a little dragged out to get to "Ranked" matches. HOWEVER... The community on this game is VERY bad and VERY abusive. Example, you finish the tutorial, go in a game against bots, so it is just you, 4 other humans vs team bots. These games a usually full of people who are claiming to be "top level" and basically just want to show off that they can try and win a game on their own, getting a massive kill streak. They abuse new players, offer no help and just constantly moan and complain. It gets even worst when you play in the real online matchmaking. If you played this game with 4 other friends, constantly together on the same team, it would be worthy of maybe a 9 or 10/10! but seriously, go see for yourself how bad the abuse and community is.

Dota 24

Abusive and annoying community. Very basic game. Character design and image is very minimal and adds now really feel to them. You need a very good PC to run the game properly and smoothly, despite the graphics looking dated. Try other MMOBAs before returning to this one.

Crusader Kings II10
Dec 26, 2013
An amazing game. Very entertaining and has massive replay ability! Also one of Paradox's best titles. The game is a strange mix of, RPG and strategy. The main aim is, you are King/Ruler/whichever you want to name it, and you look after your Family name (your Dynasty) by any means you see fit. Marry into powerful families, fight of jealous siblings who are hungry for power! Conquer the world and turn them to your religion/culture and way of life. Or keep yourself quiet and just improve (or punish!) the life of your own nation, peoples and family. There are a few expansions now that are a must buy. They add so many new elements to the game play and make playing each race/culture/religion a very different experience.

Path of Exile9

Firstly, I only tried this game because of the reviews and critic scores I seen, here on Metacritic, and I am happy I did. It's free to play. Simple as that. Yes the ingame store can be very expensive, but they are only cosmetic items and don't affect the actual game and the developers claim they will never turn pay to win. If you are a Diablo fan, and you don't like the direction Diablo III has gone (like myself) you should love this. Yes the graphics aren't spectacular, but they are meant to be playable on a wide variety of systems (as its tells you on the website) which is good as not everyone can have a great, expensive gaming system, but now they can enjoy this great game!

Out of the Park Baseball 147
Dec 26, 2013
Excellent baseball management simulation, well the best one actually, as all the scores and reviews will tell you. Made by a company that cares and is very active with it's users. The learning curve, has mentioned, is steep but if you take it step by step, watch a Youtube tutorial or just check on the forums (where you can have questions answered within minutes usually) its nothing to be afraid off. Play modern MLB, historical seasons starting in 1800s! or even make your own baseball universe in any country you want, with any rules you want! I rate it a 7 simply because there are a few things I personally would like to be added into the game.

NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 200710
Dec 26, 2013
Simply put. If you like Ice Hockey, and enjoy the aspect of being a team Head Coach (tactics) or General Manager (business side) You need this game, and will enjoy it. Those familiar with Football Manager will recognise the menus and layout straight away. It has a Football Manager 2008 look and feel to it. It is very in-depth and still to this day, has a very active community over at TheBlueLine Forums.

Papers, Please3

I'm giving this game a 3, simply because the theme of the game is very interesting. However, despite all the hype and attention, there is nothing here. In a quick overview. You have a screen that resembles a counter and a shutter. Somebody appears (the graphical style is akin to old 8-bit 16-bit) and presents a document. You then have to match up that document with whichever order you have receieved for that day, i.e. No foreign passports today so every foreign passport you deny entry and they walk off. That is all the game is. Obviously the scenarios change and maybe it will be "foreigners allowed today but only from X,Y region" You are just matching up lines of text from your handbook, daily orders to which ever you are presented with. Once the day finishes you get money. You have a few family members, just text on the screen, and you have to buy food, rent, heating, medicine. They can die and so can you, which results in game over. I picked this game up on Steam Sale for about £3.00 I still regret buying it.
