Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty9

A great game, no doubt about it. Classic RTS's golden boy no1. Enjoyable campaign and great multiplayer. It's quite hard to get in to at the beginning though, and in my opinion the base building is too APM demanding.

Grey Goo4

Man... is... this... a... slow... game... or... what?! Don't buy if you're interested in classic RTS games like Starcraft/Warcraft/C&C... Grey Goo is super slow, with a termendously stupid AI. Tha campaign is well-made when it comes to cutscenes (art and voicing) but the missions are very uninspired.

BANNERMEN10

If you love classic RTS games such as Starcraft and Warcraft, then you will 100% enjoy Bannermen. Quite fast-paced with focus on battles, rather than the basebuilding (which is not as APM heavy as SC for example). Several spell-casters with 3-4 spells each make the skill cap extremely high. Heroes that can be levelled up during the game also adds complexity and is a nice touch. The campaign is great, with lovely artwork and voice acting in the cutscenes. The story is enjoyable yet not super deep (which however isn't necessary in an RTS imo). 23 campaign missions if I'm not mistaking, rendering about 8 hours of play. But the best part of the game is the multiplayer, really high replayability. I've also watched serveral tournaments on Twitch and I'm really impressed of the strategic depth and high skill cap, demonstrated by the most skillful players.

Halo Wars 23

If you're into classic RTS games, then DON'T buy this. Oversimplified, clearly adapted to console, extremely casual. Combine this with no strategic depth and you get this...

Battlefield Vietnam10

The by far best Battlefield game in the series. Unfortunately no one is playing multiplayer anymore...

Age of Empires II: HD Edition5

Although being great in 1999 (I grew up with AoE series), this game hasn't aged well. Tons of quality-of-life features are missing compared to newer RTS games, and the balancing is terrible. However, the theme is nice and you get a lovely nostalgic trip. But for new players that haven't grew up with the AoE series, I honestly wouldn't recommend this.
