There is nothing good in this movie expect for Eugene Levy in fact he's the only good thing in this series and if I get any laughs from these movies it's from him, personally I do like the 90's feel of some of the scenes but there is an absence of actual jokes and the style of humour really doesn't qualify as humour at all it's simply trash and there is no plot, it's a waste of time ultimately and has very little entertainment value. 3 stars for Eugene Levy though and the 90's atmosphere that's in some parts.

2001: A Space Odyssey3

Probably out of all the well known mainstream films this is the slowest, it's also very cryptic and the final "star child" sequence is excruciatingly boring, torture to sit through. It has one redeeming factor HAL 9000, who is a great villain and if this movie had of had an easier to follow plot (or any plot at all) then maybe it could have utilised him to his full potential, the voice of HAL is just perfect, it has a real smug condescending sense of superiority to it and he has a great look, that red eye. This movie seems to be more appreciated for it's effects than it's plot (if it even has a plot) which is fine if people enjoy it good for them but personally I am after something different, I want a great story in my films not a great sleeping pill. 3 out of 10 for HAL and one scene involving him in particular.

Very underrated film, it has always been my favourite of the series, it tried something different for the ending that I feel worked really well, I will always defend this movie against the ignorant masses.

Son of the Mask8

I thoroughly enjoyed it, people are too harsh on this movie, it's very entertaining and has a good energy too it, I liked it more than the original which is also a solid movie. Very fun film, I liked it a lot.

The Hangover Part II0
Jun 9, 2020
I understand nothing is more subjective than comedy but this film is the furthest thing from funny. I have seen some horror films less disturbing and disgusting than this. You shouldn't feel like you need therapy and a shower after watching a comedy. I found watching it an agonising experience like some horrible punishment for expecting anything more from a sequel to a movie that was mediocre at best. I don't think the first hangover was a good film but it's sequel is probably the worst sequel I've ever seen. An abysmal film.

Saving Private Ryan4

The Omaha beach scene is excellent and likely to be the first thing someone brings up when you ask what's so great about the film? in fact it's the only thing, problem is the movie never picks up after that, it was boring and overly sentimental with a scene involving Tom Hanks at the end that was trying so hard to be emotional and fell so flat I cringed at it, a nicely polished well filmed movie with no emotional power so ultimately a failure, thumbs down but I have seen much, much worse.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly10

The greatest most epic western ever made, Eli Wallach steals the show as Tuco in what might be the best uneasy alliance in film history with Clint Eastwood's Blondie. The ending of the film is the greatest ending I have ever seen to a motion picture, the way the cinematography and music comes together in that final scene is sublime, spiritual and hypnotic in fact the ending is the greatest scene in film history everything from the moment they arrive at sad hill up until the end credits is absolute perfection. All film is subjective but that was simply my experience with it, the soundtrack to the entire film is beyond great and everything before the ending is also excellent with the highlight for me being Tuco in the gun shop, extremely entertaining scene. An absolutely astonishing film.

The Wicker Man10

There was a vendetta against this movie when first released which you can read about online, some people tried to ruin the film by removing key scenes the entirety of it has still not been recovered and Christopher Lee (who considers it his greatest film and I agree) loved the movie so much he did it for free, he says the complete version is 10 times better, which if true would make it the greatest film ever made, there's urban legends about it being under a motorway in London and the backstory is more interesting than a lot of films. The film itself has a Beautiful atmosphere and soundtrack, great performances from all involved and one of the greatest endings in the history of film, a movie that has stayed with me for years.

Misery10

The most intense thriller I've ever seen, I thought I was going to have a heart attack, a masterpiece in it's genre and one of the very best films I've ever made in my opinion.

A Clockwork Orange10
Jun 9, 2020
Energetic, intense and powerful. A Clockwork Orange deals with questions regarding free will and morality and has a brilliant soundtrack heavily featuring Beethoven, I've seen 12 of Kubrick's 13 films and this one is by far my favourite, it's really underrated on this site, it's a masterpiece.

Alien10
Jun 9, 2020
Some people say Halloween, some say the shining, I say Alien is the greatest horror film ever made, the actors convey being frightened so convincingly. The look, design and atmosphere of the film is second to none, it's just dripping with menace from the ominous opening titles right through til the exhilarating, heart pounding finale. A Masterpiece in every sense of the word.

Back to the Future10
Jun 9, 2020
Arguably the funnest movie ever made, inarguably one of them. Micheal J Fox and Christopher Lloyd are perfect, the script is very tight, well written and rightfully shown in film schools as an example of how to write set up & pay off. It's one of my favourite films of all time and is probably the most re-watchable of them all. Also it's two sequels are great.

The Silence of the Lambs10
Jun 9, 2020
The best film of it's kind, there has been many undeserved Oscar wins in history but none of this films five are among them. Anthony Hopkins is so memorable people think of him as the primary antagonist, he stole the show too such an extent they made it into an entire franchise solely based around him, they give him a leading actor Oscar an award he shouldn't have even been eligible for considering he's only onscreen for 16 minutes but they didn't care. Jodie Foster also deserves her recognition giving an absolutely stellar performance as the FBI trainee Clarice Starling, the movie uses under utilised filming techniques to draw it's audience in like getting it's actors to deliver lines directly into camera (a very unorthodox method considering the very first thing actors tell you not too do is look at the camera.) it's very effective here and should be done more in films. There is analysis videos on YouTube that go in depth into the editing and camerawork during the Clarice and Lector scenes and show the various techniques used to make those scenes some of the best in film history. A masterpiece of a movie with the best end credits sequence I've ever seen.

The Green Mile10
Jun 9, 2020
I'd estimate I've seen over 5000 films in my life from multiple countries and continent's and from all era's of film-making, The Green Mile has never been surpassed by any film. It is at one some point during it's runtime touching, sad, horrific, funny, haunting, provocative and very emotional. A supremely satisfying experience that surpasses The Shawshank Redemption in every way most notably with it's characters who are more colourful and memorable. The acting from everybody is incredible, the score is fantastic and the directing flawless. It's what cinema is at it's best a great story just like a novel. Totally engrossing for it's entire runtime, if it was a single minute shorter it wouldn't be as good a film, the runtime is a strength not a weakness.
