I really like the visuals, the controls, and the music and sound effects. I don't even mind the scaled down gameplay. But what really irks me is how difficult the game gets all of a sudden toward the late stages and, to be honest, after three runs of 2+ hours, I don't know if I care enough to try again. I really want to complete the game, but another 2-3 hours of play, just so I can suddenly get wiped out with nothing to show for it doesn't really interest me. If I could have even resurrected one Commander for the following play-through, it would have made it much more enjoyable. And MUCH more replayable.

There's a part of me that wants to give the game a perfect 10. That's the part that only played a few hours. Sadly, the more time one spends with the game, the more tedious and repetitive it becomes. The problems with the lack of intertwined stories has been well reported, but an even bigger crime for me is the boring dungeon design. Every dungeon feels exactly the same, only with a different skin. I don't get curious to see what is around the corner, or where the next dungeon will take me. I don't bother looking for secret exits or hidden mini-bosses. None of that exists. It's exactly the same each and every time. Yes, the battle system, graphics, and music are all superb. And that's what kept me coming back. But the game's flaws, as few as they may be, are too serious to overlook.

One of my all-time favorite puzzle games comes to Switch with tons of modes, online leaderboards, and an excellent, addictive challenge. Only thing keeping it from being perfect is lack of new songs and no online head-to-head. Otherwise, perfect. Especially for the price!

Long time reader, first time reviewer. Stay clear of this game. It just released yesterday on Nintendo Switch (for $7.99) and somehow, despite it being November, 2017, it fails to have even a fraction of the depth of the 1980s arcade game it's so clearly influenced by. Nintendo should be ashamed of itself for even allowing this on the eShop. - The physics are a joke. - The muzak is anything but the rock music stated in the description. - There is no online multiplayer. - One can scarcely tell their car from the others on a 65-inch television. - There are no power-ups, no upgrades, no obstacles. - There are no sound-effects. Not even the sound of your car's engine. The game is good for one thing though. It's taught me to never, EVER, buy another game without checking Metacritic first.
