TOEM9

A Joy to play. This is yet another one of those games that feels like an experience you wish you could forget, so you could do it for the first time again. I thoroughly enjoyed the jazzy background music, quirky character designs, and a world made to be it's own. TOEM is charming and snappy on the PS5. Excellent controls and adorable characters make for an altogether enjoyable experience that doesn't drag on or get repetitive. Playing this through for 100% on PS5, I feel as though I have some extra notes. The trophy design in this game is near-perfect. I even played through the DLC for additional trophies and found myself simply having fun. Who knew? The core reason video games were invented, they're fun. TOEM is a great reminder of that and an excellent photo fueled jaunt through a unique and exceptionally designed world.

Untitled Goose Game9

This game is fun-strating. To explain further, I was pursuing the platinum trophy as part of a YouTube challenge. This typically requires completing everything the game has to offer and in UGG's case, we get time trials. Let's back up a bit. The initial play of exploring each area and finding solutions to each item on the list (with or without a guide), is enjoyable and refreshing. This is entirely different from the usual open-world slop I tend to put on and glaze my eyes over as I play on auto-pilot. Untitled Goose Game is a delightful package of charm, fun puzzles, and cute character design. The time trials are very frustrating. In pursuit of 100%, you must complete each area within a certain amount of time - before the town's church bell rings. The most difficult one was certainly the backyard area where two neighbors squabble over objects thrown over the fence. Loved this game, but genuinely struggled with that final challenge.

Voyage9

A feast for the eyes. This game was done in a hand painted style. It's gorgeous, each level, set piece, transition moment, all of it. I was taking screenshots like crazy. I was in this game for a quick platinum for a YouTube challenge. I found myself absolutely enchanted by the incredible art direction that I was subjected to. Gameplay wise, it's not all that much to write home about. Some light environmental puzzles and path finding - but other than that, not entirely engaging. Hold the left stick to the right and occaisionally go left. However, I must reiterate that I loved this experience and feel truly lucky to have played this game. Would be a 10/10 with just a little more substance in the gameplay department. If you're looking for a short, eye candy game that will make you tear up or even cry in the end; Voyage is for you.

What Remains of Edith Finch10

In a rare case, I took this game on as a short platinum trophy for a YouTube challenge; and was floored by the journey. What Remains of Edith Finch is best left generally underexplained. However, the variety of gameplay styles between the chapters and the presentation for each vignette is so creative and connects the stories together in such a nice way. The chapters themselves create this web or tree (ha) that thoroughly introduces the idea to the player that this family certainly seems to bear some unfortunate curse.Again, without going to far into the weeds, Play this game. Do yourself a favor and sit down for the 2-3 hours it takes to get through the whole thing and just enjoy yourself. It's approachable to any kind of gamer and tells a meaningful and thought provoking story.

Takes some time to get used to the controls. It is a great take on a retro roguelite game. I enjoyed my time with it but did not find it more compelling than it's trailers and screenshots on the store were. The art is lovely and the music is efficient at setting the stage for each area. The boss fights are engaging and the game has an unpredictability in its mechanics that I liked and was frustrated by in equal measure. I played this on the PS4 version and came away from the platinum experience without much to say. It's good, that's all.

101 Ways to Die8
Jul 27, 2025
Charming game, excellently designed with new concepts being introduced in very organic ways. The game succeeds in not holding your hand too much with many maps having multiple possible solutions. Would have benefited from a map creator or creative mode. All of this said, 101 ways to die is fun and vaguely challenging with a good gameplay structure befitting short bursts of engagement. I got the platinum trophy in this game and found it dragged on a bit, but it's worth mentioning this was done as part of a challenge, so with a timer, and playing this game nonstop - I ended up hurting my own experience. In hindsight, this is an excellent "lemmings 'em up" to keep in your library for the occasional bout of goofing around.
