"The Recalibrating Game" Let's get this straight, this game doesn't deserve a negative score just because the controls were worst than a year in hell, but it has another flaws that must be acknowledged. I still feel deep within me that this game needs to evolve; it almost felt that I was playing a remake of Star Fox 64. Sure, the new vehicles and graphics are appealing, but it doesn't compensate the predictability of the story, that is the same from the previous games. The soundtrack was plain, with no memorable parts in it (maybe Fortuna it's the best musical piece in the game). Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but it's disappointing that the plot remains the same. Hopefuly, if they port the game to the Switch, the control issue will be fixed.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia9

This is the review of a Fire Emblem fan that hadn't played Gaiden before. First of all, keep in mind that this is a remake, that's why some features of the new games are not present. Lovely. The story is a little bit basic but interesting, the music is top notch, the characters artwork is beatiful, and the maps are challenging at certain points. Of course that the absence of the new games mechanics (like the weapons triangle) is notorious, but it doesn't make it unplayable. I was amazed with the dungeon parts because I didn't expect something like that in a Fire Emblem game; also, I was happy to know that the weapons didn't wear out.

"No... this isn't Smash... Pros: - It's a good 4 players fighting game until smash arrives (it's better than ARMS' 4 player mode). - The design of the stages and characters is Ok. - Decent music. - I liked some of the original characters and their movesets... but I must admit it: The Drifter fits perfect and it's OP! - I think it was a healthy decision to not include items in this game, so you can focus more on the fighting instead of the "item searching". - I tried online... it was fine. Cons: - The characters are completely silent and without personality (except Juan... maybe because they used some sounds from his game?). Well... at least the attacks have SFX. - Some mechanics must be fixed and added, for example: there is no edge recovering, and you can't block. Ok, you can evade and dodge, but blocking is essential to any fighting game. - There are 8 original characters... and 10 clones!? Why not save all that space for more new characters? (Sm4sh déjà vu) - The reward system is lazy: "reach this level and you'll unlock this". There's no challenge on that. - Too bad that the blocked characters and stages must be acquired through a "loot box" system. Even though this game feels a little bit incomplete, you get used to the mechanics and gameplay quickly. It would have been better if this game had a roster full of indie game characters.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village8

You'll need a notebook to play this game. Pros: - The music is amazing. - Lovely characters. - The puzzles are difficult and tricky, which is good. - There's a lot to do in the game: find puzzles, build the gizmo, order the painting, etc. - That feeling of solving a complicated puzzle is so satisfying. Cons - The main story is bland - The cutscenes did not aged so well - The color palette is not my cup of tea, but it leaves an ominous sense of mystery to the game. - The clicking mechanic to travel through the village is tiresome sometimes, but you'll get used to it. - The hints of some puzzles are useless. - That feeling of how your IQ goes down after realizing that the answer of a puzzle was obvious and easy is disgusting.

Pros: - 2v2 is fun. - The diversity of the modes and minigames is ok - Up to this point, the DLC is free Cons: - Besides Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this one of the few multiplayer games that the Switch offers. This game will be easily forgotten in the future as soon as other multiplayer titles come. - Characters are unbalanced. It feels like Ninjara is the only useful fighter in the game. - This game wasn't meant to be playable for 4, it's confusing and complicated. Imagine playing PunchOut! for 4. - There's no story, it's just a bunch of people fighting in a championship. That's all. - After realizing that Twintelle is the only fighter with real arms, you discover that this game is an amputee showdown. Creepy. I recommend to buy it pre-owned.

A game you wish it would never end! Pros - The characters are well developed, I felt empathy with all of them. - I've never played a game with such an enchanting atmosphere; it is dark and lonely, which I enjoyed. - The music goes perfectly with the setting and the atmosphere. It's kind of progressive/experimental music. People complains about the lack of music and other characteristic themes of the franchise, but the ones on game are amazingly composed and designed to be earworms. - The majority of the puzzles were challenging and fun. - If you haven't found all the korok seeds and shrines, you already know that there's a lot of replay value in this game. Cons - The voice actors in certain characters (like Zelda) felt amateurish, but it's a minor detail. - The story is good, but I think they could have delivered it in other way. The gimmick of "finding the memories" was not a good option. - Some missions lack specific instructions or hints, but that's the beauty of the game anyways.

Before getting this game, please be sure that the mic in your DS still works; otherwise you'll get stucked at certain point. Amazing addition to any DS collection. Too bad there's no local multiplayer for the microgames. The boss stages were amazing, and the music is on point. You'll never get tired of those microgames.

I am not a fan of JRPGs or regular RPGs at all, but I must admit that I enjoyed a little bit this game; in fact, it is the first SquareEnix game that I finish. The battle mechanics were fine, the jobs were useful and versatile, the artwork was cool and the soundtrack was almost a masterpiece. The bosses were quite a challenge, but after the "deja vu sequence", they were boring. The english dub was awful, so I recommend to play it with the original japanese voices. Maybe one of the main reasons why this game has many mixed and negatives reviews is for the way the plot unfolds. The beginning was mysterious, charming and amazing, but the other half is repetitive. Enjoying this game relies 100% in choosing "the right path", while taking the other one feels like a penitence in the purgatory. Perhaps punishing the players that way wasn't the best idea.

First of all, let's set from the beginning that this is a party-like game composed by microgames that last less than 5 seconds. Due to this, there's no plot. Pros: - The wacky sense of humor of the series remains untouched. - Dynamic and fun to play - Exploits the full potential of the wii features Cons: - If you're not familiar to the series, you are going to have a bad time. - Some microgame moves were difficult to perform and others didn't even fit for the game (like "The Discard"). - Hunting for new microgames after completing all the stage was a hard task, probably because the same games repeated up to 3 times in a set.

A remake that almost surpass the original. The new features are amazing, and the addition of 3D cutscenes was a fine touch. It's a shame that some of the original minigames didn't make the cut. Conclusion: this game is an amazing experience.

- A game made with recycled sprites and music of Amazing Mirror. - Some stages were lazy and not challenging. - The plot was pointless - The final boss is extra easy in comparison of the other entries. Conclusion: If you want to experience a good DS Kirby game, I recommend to play Super Star Ultra.
