Perhaps one of the most soulful, wholesome games of not only the DS family of consoles, but of gaming as a whole. Even with some flaws (outdated controls, lack of control in dungeons, and some gameplay features missing from the precious rescue team games), this game ends up being a better Pokemon game than an mainline entry since Emerald. The story is magnificently told, keeps you on the edge of your seat and escalates brilliantly. The decision to make sure most of the pokemon accompanying you are first evolutions really increases the feeling of being an underdog against these mighty legendaries and being out of your depth in a story about the end of a world. Can recommend to any RPG fan, any Mystery Dungeon fan, and any Pokemon fan.

To give some sort of credit to my experience in the game, I began playing in Stormblood and didn't once stop my subscription after all these years. I also have cleared savage tiers and have experience in ultimate fights.Dawntrail is a huge disappointment compared to previous expansions. FF XIV was on an upwards trend since the end of Stormblood, where it seemed that everything was only bound to get better. Shadowbringers was the pinnacle of the series in its globality. Endwalker kept the same standard, improved on the story, faltered slightly on the content. After the constant lying that developing a game of the scope of XVI wouldn’t impact Danwtrail’s development, we have come to its release, where it is plainly obvious that the team wasn’t focused nor passionate about this **** quality of life has certainly improved, and the standard of the content (at least so far) has remained quite high. Fights are fun, the game feels fluid and interesting to play, the graphical update while controversial gives something to be excited about, and the usual excitement that comes with an expansion’s new possibilities are there. However, the cracks start to show as soon as the main story begins. Characters feel out of place, the voice acting is atrocious (especially for the main character of the expansion, Wuk Lamat) barr a few of the scions (although G’raha Tia’s voice acting has become too forced and departed from the original character quite a bit), and the story keeps lacking in both rhythm and interest. You can imagine it as one big Beast Tribe quest chain until you get to around level 97 of the **** many contradictions arose, so many “well that’s very stupid” moments concerning characters as well as primary plot points. It all feels not only formulaic, but extremely uninspired. It is shallow, like a lot of the writers' ideas were clashing and instead of taking a step back and debating on how to make it all come together, they just decided to be yes men to everyone. It seems to me the story didn’t have enough fuel to last 40 hours, so they had to extend it as much as possible. This culminates in areas like the yeehaw area feeling extremely out of place (on a side note, american voice acting really doesn’t fit this game and is of extreme low quality, and it’s now plainly obvious), more like an author’s current obsession than something that actually fits the setting, the story and the world.Wasting 2 levels of MSQ on literal cowboys chasing after people that stole a piece of jewelry that isn't relevant to the story, and many inconsistencies (why doesn’t the WoL intervene in fights, why are we doing convoluted sneaking plans instead of stopping the bad guys, etc..) just felt like the biggest insult that made the story irredeemable. From that point on, the story has left such a bad taste in the player's mouth that they cannot take it seriously anymore, hurting the eventual plot twists and changes in narrative that take place at... level 98 **** is as bad as Stormblood, with more inconsistencies in both storytelling and character motivations, only not being worse due to the cutscenes and effort into animations and presentation being better. Wuk Lamat becoming a literal caricature of herself in the same expansion is as bad as Lyse’s oblivious Mary Sue personality. It’s also no coincidence that the two worst expansions in terms of narrative have been the ones where the WoL takes a step back to let someone else be the main driver of the plot. Still too early to comment on the content. The music isn’t as good as the previous two expansions, the story is one of the worst, the setting is uninspired and clashes extremely badly with itself, the late-level aesthetic is so ridiculous it feels as bad as “Kingdom Hearts but in the real world!!!”.“Who allowed this?” and “Who wrote this?” are the overwhelming feelings that permeate the entire experience of playing the expansion. Add to it the lackluster QA of some parts (female voice actress playing male viera, side quest that spoils a big plot twist of the climax of the first half of the story, inconsistencies in narratives and what the characters say, contradictions in characters' motivations and overall personality both new and old) and it will be a situation where, yet again, like Stormblood, everyone will advise to ignore the story and just soldier through. But will the content be good enough to make people not only stay in patch quests but actually invest themselves on the hard fights and the daily grind? Because Endwalker failed spectacularly in both patch story and patch content.

A phenomenal expansion that captures everything an MMO should be, especially a Final Fantasy one. Story that can't be matched, characters that grow and climax in their story arcs, music that took a gigantic step forward and will forever be in my personal playlist (and made me buy the soundtrack in appreciation) and above all, some of the best content and mixture of content in this game's now 11 year lifespan. I've seen people that don't enjoy video games enjoy this MMO, and I've seen people that never cared for FF fall in love with the series thanks to this one. You will not regret picking this game up, especially with the very generous free trial that for some reason doesn't allow you to make parties?

As a huge Diablo III fan, with over 800 hours spanning multiple platforms, Diablo IV's announcement made me think I would finally have a more recent, updated experience to sink in hundreds of hours. The result was an extremely shallow, boring and monotonous experience. Bar the graphics which are impressive for a game of this genre, everything else falls flat. The campaign itself felt like we were doing bounties from the early Diablo III days and the end game content was barebones. What was once a fun "infinite leveling" experience with Paragon Levels that made it feel like you were at least always progressing towards something became just a shallow skill tree with no innovation or interest. The gear feels like Borderlands' VH mode playthrough (take whatever is higher level, legendaries don't matter until you get to farming precise things over and over). Just an overall lack of content, a clear lack of passion, filled with microtransactions, premium battle passes, skins that cost more than the game on sale, an always online component that only serves to cause harm (disconnects, trouble syncing up with co-op partners, seeing a bunch of bots and paypigs breaking your immersion, etc..). What a mess. Diablo truly is dead. Consider playing 2 or 3 instead of this gigantic waste of space. It's heavy in storage too, over 80gb for a play-doh simulator.

Albeit not a classic Castlevania (it does not play nor look like the old retro ones, it's more akin to Symphony of the Night), it is extremely good on its own merit. A lot of builds to play around with, farming is fun, exploration could be better (as is the case with these games), some good end-game with extra bosses and the archive to complete. Very worth the price, some frame drops on the biggers "cinematic" maps, but all in all, a very worthwhile experience. A lot of love can be seen for the supporters, and the developers clearly had fun making this game and they put a lot of care.

An incredible expansion that, yet again, impressed and pushed the limits of MMO storytelling and gameplay. There aren't enough words to describe how good FF XIV is, and even worse still is how many words you would need to explain why Endwalker is the peak of the genre. I have played many MMOs throughout my life. American, European, Japanese, Korean, and none of them ever offered what this game offers: Storytelling that is perhaps one of the best (especially with the budget and engine limitations) if not the best in the past decade, coupled with an array of songs that flesh out what can only be described as a perfect conclusion to a 10 year saga. Add to it the fact that the gameplay, from the dungeons to the trials to the ballads (as of 6.0) were on par with some of the best the game has to offer, and you have a perfect game here. Every fan of Final Fantasy must play this game, every fan of good stories as well, and any fan of videogames must play it too. As a sidenote, I started playing halfway through Stormblood, so I am in no way shape or form a fanboy nor a veteran. All I am is someone with very high standards, and after mocking the game for being a cashgrab and an insult to the franchise, I was hooked as soon as I played it, I was mindblown by Shadowbringers and after constantly saying "this will never be topped", I admit that Endwalker did the impossible and made the game peak once again. This is a game I will play for many more years, and it deserves my time and effort, because the development team showed time and time again that they truly care for the fanbase and the content is never disappointing.

A masterpiece. All that it leaves me thinking is what could have been if they had had more time and a bigger budget. No game comes close to this one in having so many good mechanics all at once yet making them all work. And the class system is by far the best one I've ever seen in a video game. A must-buy, must play, full of charm and you'll never forget it, and the story only gets better the more you go.

The combat is extremely satisfying, the shooting and jumping and dashing is pretty good. There are some interesting gameplay mechanics as well introduced like the badass ranks that were changed from 2 and the SDUs costing money again rather than Eridium. Small things that make the gameplay very good. That's where the improvements end though. Story was trash, characters were awful, the class trees felt worse and there is NO character with good abilities!! And how they managed to give them LESS personality when they're fully voiced now is beyond me.

The only thing this game has going for it are the graphics and the huge cast of characters, which in a way, makes it the best one to play if all you care is playing with all the characters. However, everything about it has been made in a lazier, less passionate way, and you can tell that it was a purely greedy reason to split the war arc into two different games. Whereas Storm 3 had impeccable cutscenes, both pre-rendered and in-engine, this one fails to live up to the standards of quality that 3 brought forward. Not only that, but the actual source material story at this point is more boring than the one found on Storm 2 and 3, so instead of making up for that with groundbreaking boss fights and cutscenes, they instead decided to follow the same path as Kishimoto by half-assing almost everything. Every ultimate jutsu is the same "build up a super giant attack that explodes in a bunch of different textures", there's nothing unique, fun or interesting anymore, and most of the boss fights were converted into these stupid "dodge the red line attack until you can counter" set-pieces. A big avoid if you're playing it as a fan of the manga. Only buy this if it's super cheap and if you want to try out all the different characters and play against friends.

If you play the game for the story and the exploration, then let it be known, this is a magical game. However, if you started playing like me when the game released, and you accompanied all the bad practices, delays, long patch waiting times, and flat out bad events that we had to endure between each new region and story quest, you'd understand why it deserves a 0. That coupled with their shady and bad gambling practices while also admiting their disregard for the community just makes this game feel like a big cashgrab with no passions unlike other Gachas like Destiny Child and Honkai. Just so you understand, for original players, we had two regins to explore, and we had to wait for almost A YEAR to get a new main region, which was delivered in small chunks at a time because they have to milk it one by one. So what were we left with? A tiny region called Dragonspine that was explored in one day, and then countless mindless events of food delivery and item gathering events that would make you even MORE bored than if you were just waiting around. There's no content. The only good content they've released in the past 6 months besides Inazuma was a dungeon crawling sort of event, that was removed after two weeks even though everyone wanted it to be a permanent feature. If you don't care for any of that and just want a game that blows Breath of the Wild out of the water for its first 50 hours, then play this game and stop there. The more you get into it the more you hate it.

Massive disappointment for a game so awaited as this. I had just come off of playing the collections as well to get me hyped for it. In the end what I got were some of the worst disney worlds to date, the complete removal of all final fantasy characters which to me are more interesting than disney ones, awful gameplay mechanics filled with minigame sections and mindless photo collection... The music was by far the worst soundtrack in the series. There was only ONE good song and it was in the final world, everything else felt like generic orchestrated rehashes of old ones or new ones, and you can tell so easily that most of this work was given to Yoko Shimomura's assistants and not her. There was no passions, and only in the final stretch of the game can you feel some semblance of character development and story progression, but too little too late, by then I had already bored myself to death. No amount of Roxas and Xemnas story fulfilments will make up for how bad the game is. And the other problems that started with Birth By Sleep? Still present. Combat is floaty, you're better off spamming attraction flow than you are actually using your keyblade, the transformations just make everything feel like a button masher rather than a skill based game, bosses continue having random revenge values where they just instantly counter you out of your combo... Infuriating game, and truly a huge disappoitment compared to 2. They should've ended the series after 358/2 Days.

I don't think any SC game will capture the passion that was in SC IV. All the characters look the same, what the hell? They all have the same model, no nuances whatsoever on their muscle tone, so all the women look like buff dudes with different height, and everyone has the same eyes and mouth. It looks way too bad. The gameplay also suffered from the introduction of the rock-paper-scissors mechanic which is perfect for amateurs to spam. The tutorials are insanely boring and fighting games need to work on that, especially on such a complex game as Soul Calibur is comapred to Street Fighter and Tekken. Finally, the story was very badly handled, both for the created character and the main story. Not only is the choice of protagonist very bad, but every character is separated into different chapters, so you don't get this intertwined story and get instead these "filler" chapters for all the characters you enjoy. The created character story is the most uninspired thing I've ever seen, and it took me 6 months of forcing myself to finish that utter trash, and even then I almost gave up on it. It also shows how BAD the character creation system is when all the NPCs you meet just look like randomised characters with the same face and model. A you should definitely avoid this game, I was only **** into it because of my love for IV and 2B being in it as a guest character, which by the way, they should be FREE, not paid DLC. The creators even had the gall to say the series would continue if it sold well, but the problem is, you gotta make a good product for it to sell well.

I had a ton of fun with this game, and barring some bugs that CAN actually ruin your gameplay (corpse stuck dangling in the air making unlimited noise that attracts everyone around), all the missions and locations felt very unique and different to explore, to the point that I was both very excited to replay a mission with different settings but also very excited to carry on the story and see what more is there. Only disappointment is that there are a handful of items that outclass all the others completely and the locations aren't enough for what was a 60 buck game at the start. Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is perhaps the best action game there is and ever will be, its combat system will stand the test of time infinitely and even now companies still make idiotic mistakes when all they need to do is copy KH2's battle mechanics. 358/2 Days is a perfect story, KH1 is charming and memorable. Main character is crying after an important plot twist is revealed, character tells him "you have to be strong", main character instantly stops crying and continues the game. Like what? Countless uninspired moments, obnoxious side quests, bad and boring gameplay that is too easy even on the highest difficulty, and you can see that the hack and slash aspect was badly thought out when enemies have no tells to their attacks and you're always swarmed. This game, as its name clearly implies, is a sequel. Some people prefer it when sequels completely change the game and offer something new. I however, prefer it when they IMPROVE on the original one's design without losing what made it good in the first place. This is what Nioh 2 does, to such an extent that I consider it the best game of the decade. If I try really, REALLY hard to come up with flaws from the original game, all I can say is that it doesn't have Guardian Spirit leveling up, and soul matching can't get your equipment from +0 to +1. That's all. Everything has been improved, from little things to bug fixes and being able to see your character when fashioning them, to the magnificent (the best even) character creation I've ever seen. Everything from the old one is here, and more, all the gear, the sets, the weapons, most of the guardian spirits. But Team Ninja just keeps on adding more and more, more weapons, more sets, more equipment, the story is longer, some of the music is actually good this time, more missions while having 1's older levels as side quests sometimes, the difficulties are improved, there are more mechanics like the Stone of Penance and the Scrolls to make your stat customization even deeper, graces, remodeling gear to better suit your playstyle. Everything is executed perfectly. My only complaint about this game is the god awful netcode it has. Besides that, it's perfection. I was fully immersed, and still am to this day after putting in a full year into this game. I haven't even finished the last difficulty yet because the underworld is so satisfying and fun to do. The gear can go to +120 now and the underworld has 999 floors. It's an endless joyride, from start to finish, from the beginning of the story to the impressively handled continuation of 1's story. Everything is in here, you don't even need to play 1 besides for its story because Nioh 2 does everything, but better. Truly one of the best games of the decade, and definitely the best of this generation of video games.

They took scenes from the movie and put them in the game to pad out the play time while also having to do less work themselves. The gameplay is so mindboggingly boring compared to the older ones, while also somehow making most weapons braindead to use. The platforming is basically non-existant and nothing feels like it has substance or meaning. The story is honestly an insult to even children, let alone the actual fans of the game, and they are such big hypocrites that they even go against the promise of the original game (marketing, brands and consumerism) by literally creating the most soulless, cashgrab movie tie-in of their own franchise as a video game and charging 60 bucks for it. This is the death of the series, and to be honest, it's for the better. I won't have to listen to that hollywood composer wannabe music anymore. They didn't even bother remaking or remastering music from the original game, they just created generic movie orchestra music for all the levels, new and old. What a disappointment, not even at 20 bucks is this game worth it. Wait for it to be on PS Plus honestly.

Overrated and one of the most boring Final Fantasies I've played. Remember when they tried to make the combat faster with every iteration so that it doesn't feel like a dragged out mess? Nope, it's super slow here. Remember the good, simple stories that focused on characters from the old games? Nope, every character here feels like they're playing a role in an opera. Does tackle interesting issues? One, yet its so shallow it feels like an insult. Does it have good gameplay? Worse than III, V, so why bother. Graphics? The chibi style clashes too much with the 3D aspect of it. All in all, it's so bad I couldn't get past the halfway mark, and this is coming from someone who has played all the FFs.

This is by far the best first person shooter I've played. I don't care about all that boomer talk, this game manages to provide fun and challenge, progression and improvement like very few games out there do, especially FPS. It does what it sets out to do well, it doesn't try to dabble in things that only bring it down (like its sequel) and even the least fun parts like the bosses still make you feel like you're achieving something fun and interesting, especially on higher difficulties. Everyone should give it a try, it's such a well done package, good gameplay, good graphics, good music, and for a DOOM game, good story.

I really wanted to like this game, I went in without any expectations other than I really want to like it, but I couldn't even get past the 2nd story arc. Everything is just so god damn BORING man... The combat is boring even on higher difficulties, the characters all feel bland even though they have some interesting stories... And the locations are the most dull I've ever seen... By the way, whose idea was it to have a huge city separated into 5 different districts with a LOADING SCREEN every time?? And whose idea was it as well to make all of the quests happen in different districts, so you keep having more loading screens than gameplay?? The story also looked to be your bland WRPG story, wow something totally not predestined and obvious happened to you and now you're whacky whacko special, great.

Everything about A Realm Reborn feels dated: graphics, animations, content, story, and so on. The music is still on par and iconic with all the other Final Fantasy games. However, comparing ARR to other MMOs, there is so much love and passion in this game that keeps evolving and improving, and when you compare it to things like WoW or GW2, come on, ARR is clearly superior in almost, if not, everything.

This expansion does what both JRPGs and WRPGs have been forgetting to do for a very long time: Tell a good story. It improves on everything from the base game: locations, classes, customization, abilities, content, and so on. On top of that, it gives you a story that is easy to understand yet has so much nuance to it, sometimes even letting the player interpret it themselves, something uncommon for JRPGs where everything feels very stiff and "this character will say how things are supposed to be!". An expansion that, without any surprise, will stick to the memories of any players, and it keeps constantly being mentioned as the best or second best story in XIV. Characters also feel important as they end up being mentioned later on, some of them sticking with you on your journey while others becoming pillars for characters' morals. With the free trial, there's no excuse not to play this expansion now.

There is no way to hate this game unless you have a personal vendetta against it. Everything it does, it does better than the games it takes inspiration from. No system feels half assed, and there are so many ways to enjoy your game. Best thing yet? The developer is one of the best indie developers I've seen, he works on this alone, snubbed a publisher that only cared about money, and kept updating this game with more content despite the original base game already feeling like a fully finished product. It's a love letter to video games. Also the PS4 version is perfect apart from one small menu bug. If you want to play it on a PC go play it there.

This game is a massive downgrade from 3 and New Vegas yet is rated higher even while having MORE bugs and glitches than its older counterparts, and some of the bugs fixed by Obsidian back in NV reappear in this game!!! How are people so blinded by this?? It completely butchered the S.P.E.C.I.A.L and made the entirety of the game not only more casual, but also insultingly easy with giving you the power armor so early in the game. And the dialogue... I haven't seen this type of bad dialogue since video game ads back in the 80s. How can you neuter down a dialogue system so well done in past Fallout games into "Yes, No, Sarcastic, Funny".

This game deserves all the love it can get, and the saddest thing is knowing we will never get anything like this ever again. There's so much attention to detail, so many improvements as well done to the original version, and in an oversaturated market of ironic and edgy stories, this very down to earth story of love and how it can be expressed and challenged in different ways is the most charming thing I've seen in a long time. It's been a long time since I've "fallen in love" with a game, and I couldn't have picked a better one. It was so good I instantly bought the next game from the same developers despite it being a completely different genre. I hate 2D side scrollers, I think they're the laziest thing a company could ever do, but this one is fantastic, and it shows that it's a gem of the PS2 era.

The game does start feeling a bit dragged out near the end even though I enjoyed all of it, and most of the boss fights felt boring and like gimmicks, but that's to be expected from superhero games as well as it's the same thing with the comics anyway. I had a lot of fun with the game, and it receives a 10/10 as a Spider Man game. It executes almost everything flawlessly, and even if some things get boring after a bit, there's not too much and they feel somewhat different most of the time to keep you engaged. The PS4 Peter Parker looked exactly like I expected him to look like, and the graphics are stunning. Finally, big kudos for putting in the webbed suit, by far the best looking spider man suit of them all.

Thank god I got this on PS Plus, because I was actually considering giving money for this pile of turds. It's probably one of the most disappointing games I played, and I wasn't even that much of a fan of the original. Textures don't pop all the time, all over the place from NPC faces to interactable objects, it's easy to fix but it was never patched. Fights are insanely difficult with an artificial difficulty added in that makes hard mode impossible to stomach (infinite sleep or stun, one hit KOs followed by poke attacks while sleeping, bosses have way too much health that it can take 30 minutes for a fight). Absolute trash. The music is an embarrassment to the series, how do people say this is good?? It sounds like generic Avengers type of trash that you see on every triple A game now, and yet the original was so unique? All of the dungeons are just hallways you run forward and encounter enemies maybe, and the entirety of the story (that which wasn't changed into whacky wohoo time traveling ghosts and parallel dimensions) feels like filler content for a game that already was 80 hours long back in the PS1. This is the ultimate, low effort cashgrab, and people out there actually consider this a masterpiece. Embarrassing. Tifa is super cute though.

The package is good and includes some content, most of it boring, but if you want a mindless shoot at things and climb scripted walls game, go for it, there's not much better than this at the moment.

Uninteresting story and characters that fall flat compared to the first game, two characters with the same story but different (and cringe) dialogue that often breaks the immersion of you being in a STEALTH, dark and broody game. Copy-paste powers and some weird glitches (walking into a peaceful NPC killed him by throwing him to against a window at 1000km/h which alerted everyone around). The only thing it has going for it is some very interesting level design like the shapeshifting house, and it's still a Dishonored game, just a more low effort one. Bullcrap DLC though, who cares about that character anyway.

How can you rate this game any higher than a 7 or an 8? The story is absolute bollocks, the characters all move like they have autism, the world feels like the most generic, artificially made thing I've ever seen, and on top of that, I see people praising the AI. I'm sorry, I missed the part where the AI did anything other than constantly lunge at you or constantly snipe you, getting you stunlocked? To the point that on highest difficulty, STEALTH is the only approach for this game because otherwise you're screwed? Let's be real, it's a good game, but not that good. By the halfway point I just wanted to be done with it, I was so fed up with the story, and the sidequests are so bland that I could predict them a mile away. Everything related to humans ends up in an ambush and everything related to machines ends up in a fight. Nothing interesting is discovered or achieved. The gameplay, minus the stupid AI, can be very satisfying, and while I think it's a bit shallow, I appreciate the mod system and the different ways you can customize your weapons and gear.

As much as I loved the story of the game and how it handled the main villain, the truth remains that the gameplay for this (apparently Game of the Year) was absolute trash, worse than most MMOs out there, where customization matters for nothing, abilities feel like they have no weight or impact to them regardless of how well you combine them, characters are worse than fanfiction ones, and the bugs and glitches, jesus christ there are just so many of them. Queue repetitiveness, immersion breaking cutscenes and animations, cliffhanger ending that requires a dlc (that isn't available on the PS3 version BY THE WAY) to finish and the cowardice of the developers to not include the Hero of Ferelden in the story despite letting you create Hawke as a character and having him be part of a third of the main story, I just can't give this game any more than that score. With this said, it's a personal gem of mine, and I think it has one of the best, if not best villains, plot twists and lore-building that I've ever seen in any video game to date.

So this is the game that was gonna revolutionize first person shooters? I don't know if that part of the community is so used to eating crap for breakfast, but god was this game bad. Yeah compared to your generic CODs and Battlefools it might be much better, but it doesn't take away the fact that I was god damn bored by the time I finished the first mission, and I had to force myself through the (very long yet very short game) 6 hours, not even, that it took me to complete it on the Hard difficulty.* And the famous wall running mechanic? No thanks, caused more problems with camera, aiming and platforming than I could ever think of. Even small things like ledges could get insanely frustrating. And obviously, the story was absolute trash, felt like a low budget transformers movie. The level with the time rewing/manufactury was cool though. Until you get to the top.

While not as good as Blood And Wine, CD Projekt Red made the good choice of selling this expansion for a smaller price, and it pays off. The story can be very interesting and the two titular characters as well. It does suffer from re-using old locations and not introducing almost any new monsters or mechanics to the game (even the new runewright mechanic is mostly useless). One could consider this a sort of short story from the book, with its self contained story, while still managing to be engaging and having a good villain (it even has references to the main story depending on if you finished it or not by the time you play the expansion). 10/10 It's just more content for one of the best RPGs out there, and even if it doesn't do anything amazingly well, it's still better than all the other rpg trash out there, and certainly 100x better than anything you'd find in your Elder Scrolls or Divinities.

It improves on the base game in almost every way, from new weapon combos, to new builds, events, quests and so on. It only misses the 10/10 mark like the original game for its introduction of the Clutch Claw, which has two undesired effects: - If you're playing solo (it wasn't my case), you will have to dedicate a lot of time to using it efficiently every single fight, and it can make the gameplay repetitive, boring and anticlimatic - If you don't use it, you will directly be missing out on mechanics, damage and opportunities, making it feel like an obligatory tool to use. Besides that, it is still definitely worth a buy, and at the very worst, you can ignore the clutch claw like I did until halfway through Iceborne.

Capcom went in a different direction with this game, and it paid off. The more realistic style of the game really brought my attention to it, since I thought it fit more with this type of game than the overly cartoony style of the older games. The gameplay is great, many people call it clunky not realising that it's part of it, it's a way of punishing the player for making bad decisions and not having enough control of their skills and character movement. People don't complain about this with Dark Souls and such, why should they about Monster Hunter? The gameplay is satisfying, especially with friends, you have an enormous amount of monsters to fight, quests to do, and trophies to acquire. There's base decoration and endemic life collection which you can display, which was one of the must fun surprises I had with this game, some of the music can be quite nice, and while the story is passable, improving your gear and making different builds for monsters is super fun. I was going to say that I hoped Capcom would maybe make World a "home console and PC" spin-off and continue the main series on Nintendo portable consoles, but after seeing MH Rise... ehh please bring back World and stick to it, thank you.
