Destiny 2: The Final Shape

The Final Shape is a decent expansion, but not great. The Final Shape offers very little from "expanding" the game besides adding new content. Unlike previous Destiny expansions, The Final Shape does not rework fundamental systems in the game, nor does it add PvP or Gambit maps, and only 1 strike. So after the campaign, the game feels like a lot like the same game before the DLC released. For example, Lightfall introduced Guardian Ranks, Loadouts, Mods 2.0, Armor mods no longer energy specific, simplified crafting materials, and many more. But most people that buy the expansion pretty much only play the campaign. So how is it? The Final Shape is heavily marketed as the closing chapter to the Light and Dark saga where we go inside the Traveler to defeat the Witness after the events of the previous expansion, Lightfall, which was considered a "bad" campaign. Compared to Lightfall, the Final Shape campaign is a lot better. But compared to past expansions, the Final Shape's campaign has an average story, although great gameplay. The first half or 4 missions of the campaign is spent getting the Vanguard crew back together. During this, the narrative progresses at a snail pace that's tugging at nostalgia. You spend the next mission and three lost sectors chasing a lead to the Witness, that turn up empty. So now it's been 5 missions and 3 lost sectors, and the story has not progressed significantly. In the strike and last two missions, Zavala goes on his own, disobeying advice from everyone around him, even his own ghost. Zavala receives a a hint on how to defeat the Witness. Then it's the final mission. So the narrative does not move the needle until the strike and last two missions, then it's over. Unlike previous expansions, the villain is not "defeated" at the end of the campaign. At the end of the campaign, you only "scratch" the Witness. The Witness is saved later for the raid. Many people will not experience the raid, so it will feel very disconnected that in one minute you scratched the Witness. The next minute, someone else weakened the Witness so much that now "we" can land the final blow. As an activity, Excision is just meant to be an epilogue, and feels like D-Day with 12 players. Narratively, it's just meant to be "good vibes" and triumphant that you're reaching the end. The way we defeat the Witness is by channeling light through our Ghost to form beams that defeat the Witness. Which is such a mickey mouse way of defeating the supervillain of the franchise. The Witness, which is supposed to be like Destiny's version of Thanos, feels like a 1-dimensional character that's only motivation is to destroy life in every universe. Throughout the campaign, the Witness does not get any development, and has one of the least threatening auras ever. The Witness does not even look cool either and feels harmless. Although Prismatic is a new subclass, it does not feel like anything new because it's just a combination of the existing subclasses, and made very strong. The Dread is a cool and different faction, but does not get enough of the spotlight because many of the enemies present in the campaign are still the Taken, Scorn, and Shadow Legion. As a backdrop for the campaign, the Pale Heart captures the aesthetic gradual change of the Traveler's influence to the Witness's influence perfectly. As a patrol zone, The Pale Heart is one of the least enjoyable ones. There are very few secrets, Overthrow is a terrible activity that mashed every public event together with only 3 players instead of 9. And the normal public events types are completely gone/replaced. Doing cysts for the first time is cool, but the gameplay loop of doing Cysts and Overthrow for "Alone In the Dark" is a slog, and might be one of the worst things I've ever played. The Pale Heart does not come close to the Dreaming City, the Dreadnaught, or Savathun's Throne World Compared to some of the best Destiny expansions, the older expansions would also have a good story, but with an exciting villain. It would also have a great patrol space (maybe even 2) with many secrets, a fun 9 player public patrol zone activity, multiple strikes, multiple pvp maps, a dungeon, and massive quality of life changes, and fundamental system reworks that significantly improve the game. Making it feel like the game got "expanded/upgraded". The Final Shape gives us a rushed conclusion to the light and dark saga. As an overall package, The Final Shape does not come close to some of Destiny's best expansions like The Taken King, Forsaken, or Witch Queen. Somehow, the community is willing to blind themselves into thinking an average expansion is the best expansion ever in Destiny history. After Lightfall and Bungie layoffs, the Destiny community was in such low morale and had so much negative sentiment. People probably don't want to reexperience that and cause their favorite franchise to fail from bad reviews. Also the Witness final boss mechanics are so mid.

Beat the game in 15 hours. Did not enjoy it at all. Nothing wrong with killing a main character. They do it poorly. Nothing wrong with sad endings. They do it poorly. Nothing wrong with showing the other perspective. They do it poorly. The pacing of the game is done poorly. The graphics are good.

I didn't like the beginning of the game because it took forever to feel like I was actually playing the game. I wish there was voice acting besides the few words and sounds. Music is nice to listen to. I've got to I think the 3rd castle, and wish I had P5 Royal

So far, I'm really enjoying the game. I've never played the og ff7, but only played FFX,FFXV, and Crisis Core Currently 20 hours in on Chapter 10, and the game is really fun Combat is really good with the materia system and ATB gauge. Music is pretty good. Story is good. Graphics are really good. I heard reviews of this game having padding as in like unnecessary **** but so far I don't have a problem with anything. I'm exploring as much as I can, doing all the side quests, and taking my time. Only complaint is my PS4 Pro is really loud when playing this game. Like unbearably loud and spitting out heat. It was like having the heater on.

At the time i was very bored of games like COD and Battlefield. I didn't know I could like RPGs so much when it was combined with a shooter. This game provided me with 3000 hours of playtime for 3 years. I spent $190 on it though which is kind of a lot for just one game

Campaign was interesting. I played through it twice and had a decent experience. Multiplayer was very cool. Before BF4, I only played BF3 on my brother's PC and rented it on PS3 for an hour. As my first true experience with a Battlefield game, I liked how good of a shooter it was despite the bugs. That fall, I had the option between BF4 and COD: Ghosts. I'm glad I chose BF4.

I like how very smooth the game is. I like how the guns feel. I like the variety of the locations. I like the variety of guns. I like the attachments I can put on the guns. I like the armor and health system. I like the gold rarity. I win a lot. Out of all the battle royale games, I prefer this one. But I would rather not play battle royale games though.

Game is pretty. If you tune the sensitivity to be a bit faster, you can play at the pace you're meant to play at. Lots of nice guns. Nice progression system. Story actually gave me some interest behind my killing. Demons got repetitive by the 2nd part of the game. Would just pull out the rocket launcher and chaingun, just so I could be done with it.

The game is good, but not a masterpiece that game reviewers say that it is. I would buy it on sale or rent. Definitely not full price though. I regret buying it for $60 The graphics are top notch. Can't complain about anything there. The story is pretty good, but is easily predictable. Dutch constantly says to trust him and it gets annoying after a while. The characters are believable. The side quests are not very good. They aren't very long, very repetitive, and have nothing to do with the main story sometimes or give any character development to the cast The hunting system is pretty cool. But having to find rare animals and use non lethal guns or bow to skin them perfectly is not very forgiving Guns feel like the guns from the time period. But gunplay is pretty much take cover, aim, and fire. Not anything difficult about it. Riding horses is cool and all, but Rockstar did not make a very good horse riding experience. I understand that Horses don't have unlimited stamina in real life, but they have way too little in the game and you have to level up the horse's stamina to max for it to feel realistic. I hate how you have to go in a different camera angle for the horse to auto ride to the waypoint. I hate how sometimes it'll run over citizens in auto. I hate how horse riding is like 40% of the game. The next quest is across the entire map and there is no fast travel to it or anywhere near it and the fastest way to get there is by horse and in the middle or riding there you'll run into an NPC and get wanted level. Online is not very good. Complete disappointment as of August 2019. If it wasn't for Online being so bad, I would've given it an 8. I would not recommend this game ton you and instead steer you towards GTA V or Witcher 3.

The game is a MUST PLAY. The story is top notch. Best you'll find maybe ever. The romance options are incredible. Gwent as a side game is AMAZING. Sword play is fun and can get very rewarding on higher difficulties. Side Quests are so good and meaningful. I think the only possible fault you can possibly have is that the game is too good. But realistically, the controls aren't perfect and the game is 30FPS. But that's being way too nitpicky.

If anyone wanted a competitive game that was like CS:GO. I couldn't think of a better alternative. The game's skill gap is very large and is very refreshing compared to the variety of FPS games out. Situations is a great way to introduce new players to the game. Terrorist Hunt is a great AI mode and very effective way to warm up your aim. The game's gunplay is amazing and it's nice to try out the arsenal of guns with the game's large amount of maps and operators. Every operator feels unique because of their gadget. Although there are some that share a lot of similarities. I love that the game gets updated regularly about every 3-4 months with new operators, maps, bug fixes, and new features. I also love that you can get new operators by earning them and that you can spend money to skip ahead, but it doesn't make you good or anything. I love the destruction and how not every game will be the same and how one can develop multiple strategies for every objective for every map and for every operator.

This expansion pretty much fixed all of Destiny 2's faults and expands the game. CoO and Warmind were embarrassments of expansions and the only thing it had going for it was Escalation Protocol. The story is actually kind of good, but kind of rides off the fact that Cayde dies. Without it, it's just meaningless, but that's kind of the point of his death. I don't like they make you do every adventure to continue the story. The dreaming city was a great endgame planet to have. I don't like that they timegated a lot of things. Specifically the Seed of Light to get all 3 new subclasses. The strikes were fun besides the Dreaming City one. Crucible got a major overhaul, but Crucible still has a long ways to go Gambit is the new game mode and it's a great addition. It's exceptional because you the better the team coordination, the better the experience. But that might be it's downfall **** mode. It's also kind of long. The raid is amazing. Kalli is a great encounter where they make you play exclude the wrong plates and make you hide in small doors. -Shuro Chi is kind of long, but I like the puzzles and mechanics. I don't like that they segment her health. -Morgeth is meh. Not very challenging, but the cleanse idea is cool and that you have to be fast. -Vault is AMAZING. It's not very complicated to understand, but I love the fact that many are too scared to learn it. Riven is very challenging and it was great to do it legit. it's unfortunate that Cluster Cheese has to exist. -Heart just shouldn't exist. Was there just to satisfy a story.

This is a review of Destiny 2 and does not take into account any DLC. Overall the base game is extremely lacking compared to the original. The gunplay is still amazing and very few FPS games are better than it. In the sequel, Bungie opted for a "story" with a defined villain "Ghaul". I think this effort was made just to say that they have a "story". I feel like this actually hurt the campaign when trying to cater the gameplay towards the story. The campaign was very boring to play and I would've preferred the storyless campaign of Destiny 1 because its campaign was fun to play. Don't even get me started that you can't use your sparrow until you beat the story. IO is extremely boring and the missions after it. Crucible is okay, but should not be looked as a very competitive experience and just as a gamemode made as an afterthought. The double primary meta is too slow and the flow of Crucible does not work. The strikes are fun, but they are in no way memorable or feel like they fit in the story. In Destiny 1, they tied strikes to the story as a "final boss"/activity for the planet. For example Devil's Lair on Earth. I don't see any link to the story and unlike Destiny 1, I don't remember any of the strike bosses names. The raid feels like a raid, but I don't think it's very good. -Castellum is not very fun and is unnecessary. In bathers, I don't like that they force you to solo an ultra and you have to rely on others having good enough weapons to kill it themselves. -Dogs is just completely stupid. It's very buggy and you have to rely on the finicky AI of the dogs to not see your not very smart raidmates. Then you have to rely on their weapons being good to solo a dog and kill your dog fast enough to help their out. -Gauntlet is kind of too easy, but people for some reason can't wrap their hands around it. -Calus feels like an actual raid encounter, but the barriers in the alternate dimension can be buggy at times. Prestige Leviathan feels like a worthy challenge. I would only buy this if you loved Destiny as a franchise to accept this game's **** would wait for DLC to fix the game.
