Don't Even Think4
Jul 12, 2019
Awesome idea, sloppy execution, even sloppier skin system. Although it's only been out one day and there's a lot of fine tuning that could be done. Don't Even Think is a great idea packaged in a sloppy presentation. The idea of Battle Royale Games with a twist isn't new, but the werewolf aspect is very intriguing. To say the least, this game would benefit from a smaller map 20 players, and 1 werewolf. The players objective isn't to kill the werewolf but it's to escape. But players will blindly kill each other for sheer sport. The werewolf requires a minimum of 3 players and a confined space. Sounds risky, but it's the only time I seen one taken down. Fighting a werewolf in the open field is a mistake. Playing as the werewolf is extremely fun except during the end game were the large map and a few players becomes a real needle in a haystack search. The game lacks a lot of quality of life additions like a better customization, better parachute controls, an actual friend invitation option, looting stuff with ease, etc. The shooting is very janky, and there have been many times where the sound was missing. Where perfect world truly fails is the pay system and skins. 100 bucks will get you 6,000 coins but that isn't enough for the top tier wolf skin. Meaning if you want the Red Blood Wolf Skin it's gonna cost you more then 100 bucks. Not even Fornite is guilty of selling more then 20 dollar skins. Play it for dumb fun, but don't get too attached because it won't last long.

The Walker (2018)5

This game is just weird, because there are few stuff that I liked here. First off, the weapons that you get on normal and hard difficulty are better than the weapon from the easy difficulty, especially when these reload automatically. Second, the graphics and art direction are nice. Third, the final boss was pretty fun, since it encouraged evasive movement. And fourth, its ideas like the magic system sounds pretty good. However, there are also many things that I disliked. The sound is not very good, and for a horror game with no music, that's worrisome. Enemy variety is pretty basic, probably on par with Lunar Stone's enemy variety, consisting of only three basic enemies (one of them turns red, and barely does anything different gameplay wise), and two bosses. Score system is basic as well, in which it only awards you for good accuracy, damage taken, and time completion (doesn't reward you for how you used magic and swords). The sword feels more like a support time than a main weapon the devs tried to advertise. The talismans, while function well enough, consists of either freezing the enemy, or stunning the enemy. Freezing is more useful due to its one hit kills but since it recharges, there are some situations where you have to use the lightning one, wasting a use. The stages, while varied, are rather static, and the only good ones are the two subway ones, the final boss area, and the two introduced in the tutorial and legend mode. And speaking of legend mode, you basically survive 3-5 waves with a possible prisoner demon boss in the end. You only need to play it just for one trophy. Completing the game unlocks Rampage mode, which is the same as legend mode except it's 3 stages in a loop (plus it includes the subway one though it's generically designed). No online leaderboards, no twists in both modes. Another thing is that you don't really unlock new weapon, but more like your weapon gets upgraded for the difficulty. Meaning if you were considering on using the dual revolvers on normal, tough luck. The story was disappointing. After defeating the final boss, the hooded man just kind of thanks you and that's it. Loading times can be annoying as well, sometimes lasting 15 seconds, and that's kinda long for a game where all you do is sit in one place while shooting 1-3 enemies types, and it wouldn't be so bad if it was fun, but enemies are total bullet damage sponges and don't really react to your hits. Constantly changing view just because enemies appearing almost every direction with little warning due to the mediocre sound design can get very tedious. Overall, it's ALMOST a good game, but the problem is that the devs clearly wanted to hype up the game as if it was something big but they clearly lied. It's no wonder that they dropped the price to $10 4 months after its release. I guess even Winking themselves where disappointed as well.

Hidden Dragon Legend5

Pros: -The combat system can at times be pretty fun, especially when executing combos. -Some abilities are pretty useful like slowing down time -Graphics are pretty good for an indie chinese game -Puzzles, while simple, are nicely designed. -Art direction is fantastic -Surtras are useful for additional buffs and work as they should -Menus are nicely designed -The final boss was okay -There's a lot of weapons to unlock... Cons: -...which sadly consists of the same weapon but with a different design and different amount of damage. -Knives, which are ranged weapons, are rather useless. -Platforming is very stiff and it shows is issues during the later levels, especially when you get the grappling hook. -Story doesn't know if it wants to be a cheesy kung fu movie or a serious one -characters are forgettable and lacks any personality -Bosses are either easy (first boss) or tedious (the samurai guy with a polearm) -Some abilities are rather useless like the boomerang, either due its ineffectiveness or its damage. -Costumes are nicely design but aren't worth playing the game again just because of it. -Soundtrack is okay but forgettable. There's a good reason why the menu theme barely managed to break 100 views on YT. I like its chinese instrumentals but the generic "epic" instrumentals ruins its rhythm. -The "challenge" in the game is just getting ganked by enemies with large pools of health, turning its fun combat segments into chores. -Collectables feels like they were added just because the developers needed to, because none provide a good story exploration -Issues during combat moments, such as janky hit detection and enemy Ai -Cut scenes are awkwardly animated -NG+ consists of obtaining EVERY weapons again because the ones that you got on your previous playthrough does jack **** -Character models during daylight look like they were from a PS2 game, while textures during nighttime in stages look dated. -You can just complete the game by just mashing square and triangle button and dodging when enemies glow yellow. -Lacks any quality of life additions, like grabbing on ledges, parry, combo canceling, blocking, etc. I feellike people are only defending this game solely because it's an over the top action game, which is the equivalent if defending a crappy japanese game just because it has cute anime girls. I mean, just because it's action, that doesn't mean it's good. I like JRPGs, but that doesn't mean I like JRPGs like Omega Quintet, Akiba's Beat Last Rebellion, etc. Also, since when chinese games are immune to criticism? Just because it has chinese aesthetics, that doesn't mean it automatically saves itself from flaws. So what, if games like Umbrella Corps where chinese, people will start defending it? Now that doesn't mean Hidden Dragon is bad, is just that it's not worth $20. If anything, just get the PC version instead since it's $5 less. The only big compliment I can give to Hidden Dragon is that it's probably the best mediocre chinese game on the PS4. Yes, a lot better than Unearthing Mars, The Walker, Dying Reborn, Ace Banana, Gene Rain, etc.

Gungrave VR3
Dec 13, 2018
One of the worst VR games I have played. Gameplay is sluggish and at time, almost hard to know what' going on due to the bad camera angles. Plus, the gameplay just doesn't have that weighty feeling of satisfaction when killing enemies because the game really isn't that hard. The boss fights were underwhelming as well, requiring no skill to kill them. Graphics are something straight of an early PS3 game, controls can feel very whimsy (especially during first person segments), story is barely coherent, and worst of all, you can beat this game in just under an hour. All for the price of $40, which is highly unacceptable. Don't listen to the positive user score above. Trust me, you'll be doing yourself a favor by avoiding this game. I think I had more fun playing The Walker or Ace Banana than I did in this game. This hurts me because I enjoyed the previous two Gungrave games but now, I can only hope Gungrave GORE will be an improvement. The only thing that could salvage this heap of trash is if they dropped the price to $15 or $10. But other than that, just stay away. Ignore what the positive score(s) say.

Paper Dolls5

An alright horror game ruined by craptastic controls. While the puzzles themselves are nicely designed, sound design is brilliant when it works and the atmosphere is genuinly creepy, the control scheme kills anything the game has it going for. Putting items in your inventory is cumbresome because the inventory is presented as 9 large boxes that are hard to see. Not to mention that moving in the game, no matter what controls you have, requires pressing the bumpers to move. The game could have been decent if they actually fixed the controls but appearantly, the developers aren't the kind of people who would listen to the community. After Unearthing Mars 2 and Sinner, you would think chinese games on the PS4 would largely improve or just end up being a harmless passable game but sadly, this isn't the case with Paper Dolls. If you can manage to withstand the horrible controls, you might find a gem. But as it is, I wouldn't recommend it unless if it's on sale. Can't help but find Winking VR's chinese game lineup to be more underwhelming than Oasis Games'
