Final Fantasy VII Remake8

Game is great and probably best JRPG I’ve played in a while, but it does not deserve to be called a masterpiece or an amazing yet do to some lack of attention it received from square enix. Also this game seems to forget what it was meant to be... a remake of a classic but near the end it felt like a kingdom hearts game totally influenced by Disney tropes. On a technical level it lacks polish which is the reason it should get low reviews since this is a triple A game. 1: textures pop in and out all the time. 2: the sound mix is poorly managed, sometimes I couldn’t hear the dialogue because of the music. 3: the music has wayyyyy too much variation. In the second near final boss (yes the random kingdom hearts boss) the music was literally taken from a Disney movie. The director of Ff7 needs to get this kingdom hearts BS out of his system. 4: the interactions with NCPs is very choppy, sometimes you’ll spend seconds after clicking on someone for the dialogue to start. I could probably add more to this list. But this game definitely does not deserve appraisal on a technical aspect. I would have rather waited an extra year for them to release a triple A game. I was dumbfounded by the end, but I rolled with the punches. It makes me wonder how much stuff they put into this remake to satisfy themselves as creators, which seemed at times very self indulgent. They should hire someone that helps maintain coherence with the actual story at hand. There are some random moments that are more wtf and are not necessary to tell the big story they want to tell. The original is more grounded to a reality and has different rules in story telling. But honestly I’m hoping they stay away from anything that reminds people of Kingdom Hearts or Disney. if they want to take a risk and piss off the fan base then they should at least make sure the game is fully polished. Only reason I gave it an 8 is because the gameplay is awesome, and I’m hoping they keep the same battle gameplay for the second part and expand on the materia. I mentioned all the stuff I didn’t like but there’s also a lot they did right. But who cares about what they did right. Square Enix needs to read the feedback to make sure they don’t go completely off the rails if they want this 3 part series to succeed. This could very much be a deciding factor in the way their reputation is formed in the future.

Cool game, very nostalgic, but the glitch with the home menu, and also the lag in control input, makes me not even want to turn the game on anymore. It feels like my Switch is going to break when ever I want to go back to the home menu.... Hope they fix it soon, so I can play it.

I'm SOOOO DISSAPPOINTED WITH ACT 2! Act 1 has an amazing progression in story and character development. I couldn't stop turning the pages, but in act 2 it got to the point that I just looked up the guide to finish the game. The puzzles became mundane and all I wanted was to finish the story. I'm very disappointed with how it ends. Act 2 could have been developed more in the script phase.

If I were to tell you this game was amazing in all faults then I would be a complete sell out to my ideals, and love to Nintendo. I'm writing this to point out that even in passing generations, we aren't all perfect and we need to look at this from a wider angle. There are some very jarring discrepancies from what is expected from the WII U and interaction with the gamepad. There is an inconsistency with the menu feel, and that should be bottoms up the core of the gamepad. No matter what, that is what makes it easy to navigate through. You take that away and you render it a confused controller. You don't need to be innovative to approach it as a navigation tool, allowing you to integrate other aspects of the game if wanted. Fear of not standing out and not using the main tools of marketship, you are going to lose momentum in the long run. This is why WII U is next gen. This game does though have the core concept **** video game down, and you have made forefathers proud by convincing that you don't need a good hard drive to pull off great hand detail. In the scheme of arch in production value, the hand defeats the tool. Thank you for making this a great amazing visual **** and it is AMAZING!!!! Deserved it should be passed around as a fun game with faults. The music in concrete feels lazy at times, and all that jazz, sometimes doesn't tell a story pertaining to the visual. I'm a driven believer that when integrating both in harmony of motion the sublime of the mind will register it into the subconscious cortex a little faster. Here's to you, the not so perfect, but yet a great ode to the past, and what we should be expected. Let's not let their heads get full. I give this an 8.0 with grateful selloutness.
