An old school dungeon crawler with Lovecraftian elements and a Pokemon style monster system. Yeah sign me up. If you don't like a grindy blobber it may not be for you, but I really loved it.

BattleTech10

Long over due masterpiece. This game manages to capture the spirit of the board game, the RPG , and the previous video games. As a kid I saved and saved and did every single extra chore I could to get the box set of Battletech, so I have my rose colored neurohelmet on. The core gameplay is great. It feels like the classic boardgames rules. The controls/ui are not explained well, but are highly informative once you figure it out. Graphics are highly detailed and played well on my potato GTX760. The sound is fantastic. The explosions, the gun fire, all sound great. The music can make the battles very tense. The story is quiet good and fits into the universe well. The fact this is 40 bucks on launch and has a ton of content means its a must buy for fans. If you are not familiar with the universe or the game you might have some trouble adjusting. As a nod to the RPG you get to talk between missions to your lance. The dialog when your mechs roll into battle is like the old MechCommander games. The cinematic battles are exciting like the old Mechwarrior games. I would recommend it to any fan of the universe.

Manticore: Galaxy on Fire8

A great budget sci-fi Action game. You can't say anything about the game without talking about how good it looks. If your searching an asteroid field for collectibles or chasing pirates through a maze of cargo containers, the game looks great. It has an appropriated Sci-Fi soundtrack that matches well. (Just think of the X series) The voice acting is great and the game is self-aware enough to poke fun at it's own silent protagonists. The highlight of the Voice acting is your overly chatty and somewhat crazy AI that quite funny most of the time. The missions are what you would expect, protect this giant ship, blow up these little ones, scan these things. The environments they take place in are great have lots of things to crash in to. The two biggest problems with the game are the simplified flight controls and the useless wingman. The controls don't allow you to roll your ship when you want to. Just a Starfox style barrel roll. And your two squad mates do nothing but take up screen space. They don't even talk to you during a mission. If you are up for a simple, fun romp through space you can't go wrong at this price.

Gear.Club Unlimited8

This is proof that if you take a game littered with micro transactions and time pay walls and remove them, it can become something good. Gear.Club is a fun arcade style racer that fills the gap left by the current switch lineup that is racing with space ships and cartoon characters. There is a large amount of content with great looking licensed cars with tons of cosmetic options to make them your own. It features a race type that I have never seen before in anything race game. A point to point race that you race until you get to a round-about and have to race back to the start point. This makes being a head of other racers dangerous as you now have to navigate through oncoming traffic. The game is held back by a terrible UI. instead of navigating a nice menu, you have a 3D map that you have to hunt down icons to find your race or dealership. And the cardboard cutout race crew that talk to you made me feel like I am playing a hidden object game. The garage building mini game/system is actually a lot of fun and provides a quick break between races to do something different. The controls require a bit of finesse to drive smoothly. The thumbsticks on the joycons have very little travel so it is hard to be precise. Thankfully the motion control steering is spot on. The game starts out very slow with a few boring races, but this is best racer on the switch at this time.

Rock 'N Racing Off Road DX4

The game looks like it should be Super Offroad, or at least similar. But you don't have any car upgrades. No nitro boosts. The AI drivers are terrible, half of the time they don't finish the race. If you want to restart a race, you end up having to restart the entire championship, regardless of what race you are on. Multiplayer on TV is the only saving grace, but gets boring very fast. Not worth the low price tag.

Forza Motorsport 77

Worst in the franchise. I have purchased Forza games, on launch since the very first title. Seven is the biggest step backwards in the series. The game looks incredible, the controls and the sounds are spot on. The game has been neutered to make it easier for new players and removes all incentive to play on harder difficulty or to race without assists. Instead of getting bonus credits by turning off assists, you get bonus credits from mods that actually make the game easier. (race with ABS on and get 30% bonus) The game has 461 costumes for your driver. You will see these on the rigid arms that stick out dead center and move slightly up and down as you steer. in fact, the drivers are less lively than racing games from 10 years ago. You can buy look boxes with car mods and sometimes cars and costumes. And Turn 10 stated that you will be able to buy these with real world money soon. So you can pay to win. Long time fans should wait. New fans should get Forza 6.
