Over all was interesting. I like how the story of it unraveled. Seemed to have just enough clues to help solve what ever simple puzzle was going on, and, or on where to go next. It really kept me glued to it most of the time for the few hours it took to play/walk the game. I think they are on to something here, but in the end I was a bit cheated and disappointed. I was starting to feel let down when it was obvious where the story was headed. What was the main story I thought was just a side story. Either at one time, or, it's just to throw you off, you play because you hope there is something supernatural in the house. For a while I suspected that maybe I would find "Sam" hanging to death in some secret passage. Instead I am forced to hear some homosexuality story. Not that I have some hatred towards homosexuals, but then at the same time I don't really need to know all the details of it. I don't really care if you want to have sex with animals or inanimate objects, etc., for the most part I'd be like okay, yea, please don't tell me about it, I'm not asking. But like a lot of homosexuality in the media, etc., as in this game you are forced to know about it, and it ends up being the story. I don't like all the "haha you thought you would see ghosts, or something (interesting)". Yea I'd rather see those things then rather have it all be about homosexuality. I don't see how people gave this the "game of the year" last year. Other then like Hollywood it seems obligatory for like minded people to give such subject matter high praises. Like it was no big surprise that "brokeback mtn" got so many Oscars et al. Okay, just over hyped and shallow in the end.

First I've played very few so called 4X spaces games before, but played just about anything else games since the early 80's. I found the game pretty fun for a while. Got into it. Reminded me a bit of games like the old CIV games. Although instead of on land your are in space of course. Also like with CIV you might want to restart the game a few times so you end up with a good position in the world/universe. After a while with the game it became very obvious that it was going to be very hard to beat, even stay alive after just so many turns. I'd call it bad game design period. An AI cheats to much. It seems to know right where to hit you, and when you do get hit (by one of several hostile aliens) you get it hard. My strategy that works well with most similar games is to quickly expand and then build from there. Apparently the game sees this and triggers an all out assault that you can't possibly win. Also several if not all of the hostile races have apparently very high tech levels. Before you know it you will get hit by fleet upon fleet of non stop high tech enemies that you have no chance of beating. It seems the only point of the game is to see if you can survive for more then 100 turns or so. Maybe if you play it enough times you will land in a good spot undiscovered by hostiles for long enough to build up, or learn how to counter the AI (if at all possible). I finally thought the hell with it and cheated by giving my self endless credits using "Cheat Engine". This was actually fun for a while as I could finally build up enough fleet to at least defend. But even then after awhile the game is just too tedious and there are intuitive parts of the game that make it a chore to continue. A wild, overly aggressive, overly cheating, and very unnatural/robotic AI dose not a good game make. Skip this one..

Interesting game that could have been great if it were not for some obvious shortcomings. There were a lot of things about the game that were obvious (at least to me) very unintuitive and feels a bit amateurish. #1 was the camera. The game could have been designed to easily be played almost entirely with a mouse. The right mouse is not being utilized; it could have been used to move the camera around. Or otherwise it would have been nice if there was an auto-center function to keep the camera focused on the main character. With some toggle so one can click on far away targets as it is. It is very strange to cross over to use the arrow keys with one hand to move the camera around then control the mouse with the other hand. And why wouldn't the more common WASD configuration be used? Obviously another weird thing was there was little distinction between what is loot, and, or what can be interacted with. You have to pixel hunt and squint your eyes to see what it is you can interact with. This could have been fixed easily by using graphics features. Finally the map design is a little off. There are a lot of areas, you move around, and there is nothing there. Seems to have no particular rhyme or reason to things. In the end the two annoying things that made me quit after playing a few hours was the lack of an intuitive camera control system and not being able to see where the loot and interactive items were.

Flat out horrible! Another case of lets make a game by pretty artwork and flash then hey lets add some game play to it. There is little sense of direction from the start. And then concept of "gradient" apparently doesn't exist anywhere in the designer(s) mind. If you get so far as to actually play on the map before uninstalling from the confusion, the AI is apparently some sort of flock/swarm thing that feel more like your fighting a flock of "T-1000" robots rather then any kind of thing natural or humanoid. What happened to game design? What happened to awareness? What happened to keeping the players perspective in mind? Hey designers/developers when you think of some cool concept (or just a name?) for a game please think it through first. Yes the public loves flashy graphics and all pretty things, but please just hash the game out first with even stick figure graphics, and beeps and bops for sounds, etc. Make sure you got some solid working concept in game play, fun AI, etc. Take this little test bed and see if you can make something fun and working first. And THEN add the graphics, etc., that should be more the "icing on the cake". Else there is no substance and it's not something your players will want to play.

Absolutely dreadful! Stay 100 yards away from this game. If this is the "Legacy", then it one that should silently die out. First the controls are abysmal. There is nothing intuitive about moving around in the game at all. The game play? I felt like I wasn't there. Like I think I'm moving, but? Horrible feedback. Horrible graphics. Forget the 90's it's more like the 80's graphics and even horrible for then. And then they tell you a bunch of stuff is turned off unless you play under a 64bit OS? Where did all this 64bit'ness go? How can this game take so much memory to do what other games did 100x better with just 256mb or less?? Anyone that gives this a good review must be completely lost in delusional nostalgia and not in present time. There is 1000 old games I'd rather play again over this junk.

Fun, entertaining (at least for a while) but always felt like it was missing somethings. Key points: A) The graphics were great; they put a lot into it. Great artwork, etc. B) Audio was good, not spectacular, but good enough. C) Game play and the user experience: Now where the game falls flat, bad in key area's of it's design, and over all it's game play. The worst glaring problem was the lack of any sensible progression/leveling. They do away with "levels" using some sort of stats based system instead. I'm left over all with no clear direction of where/how to progress. Okay, I can say increase a weapons skill level but then how does it directly effect my character? There was no real skill tree to say advance up with any notable special moves, perks or improvements. No real coolness factor, no pizzazz. The story was interesting though; it made sense and did make me want to play from this standpoint. D) Gear: Dismal. For one no special magic armor of note. Again no coolness factor nothing really to look forward too in finding any "awesome" loot drops. Even worse it oddly took for ever to even find a base set of amour. Kind of frustrating feeling that I could do better if I just had at least a basic set of newbie armor! So in the end you are left with a game that looks pretty, an interesting story, but is basically boring. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be more of an RPG or strategy game but most of the 'R' in "RPG" was missing. I want to feel empowered in an RPG. I want to go into fantasy land after a days work where I am a King, a Knight, a grand wizard!, something special. It's all about: "Hey I'm a cool wizard!" (or fighter, thief, what ever) "Look at my cool gear!" "If I keep killing these monsters, especially the bosses, I'll find some great loot drops!" "Hah! I advanced to level 3 fireballs, now I'll really kick some!" "I used my smartness in building my character, it's powerful!" In this game I felt very little of these things. Whom ever built this game focused on the graphics, the maps and their strategy, the story, but then left all the cool things out that makes you want to keep playing..

"Bait and Nerf" I used to like the game. Played over 12k games in total. There is and always was a horrible grind to the game. One of the worst ever I like to call the "WOT march of death". Besides the horrible grind WG (****) just doesn't know how to balance a game period. Bad in WOT in also their newer Warplanes game as well. Also they just don't know how to treat their players. You play their games and you know you are going to get screwed at one point or the other. I'm talking about paying customers at least. It's all about what money can WG can make now, if you paid into the system already, even recently well then it's your tough luck. I picked the German line because I always thought they are the coolest ever. They just look cool and were deadly in WW2. Now but if you play the German side you are pretty screwed since for the most party Germany stopped making tanks in 1945 (yes with some exceptions like the modern Leopard 2). But then WOT continues on with coldwar tanks on up to at least the 1970's. So there I was at best playing a 1945 concept tank vs 1970 technology. The new tanks they give better developed rounded amour, and a lower profile, auto-loaders, better engine, etc. Somehow to WG developer logic that is somehow balanced..(?) The worst of it all to make me uninstall and not want to touch another WG game again is what they have been doing for the last year. It's a variation of the "bait and switch" scam, which I call "bait and nerf". What they do to keep people grinding (and thus paying money) is they keep coming out with new tanks. Mostly tanks that keep moving up in years with better technology thus they are stronger. Usually move faster, have bigger guns, and, or shoot faster or have auto-loaders. So this new tank comes out and it's pretty over powered and now everyone wants it. Users spend their money to push through to get it. All is good for a few months..then what they'll do is spring a bunch of nerfs on your shiny tank. They will do something(s) to make it much weaker now. Now your screwed, angry, frustrated, you don't even want to play it anymore. It's a cycle they do to try to get you to spend your money. And this is no mistake, it's obviously intentional. You can see they base a lot of their designs on math, in particular statistics. So they know damn well what they are doing. Avoid WG games at all. You will only end up getting frustrated, and screwed out of your money in the end.
