A brilliant game that is a ton of fun to play with friends. The campaign is short, but the game is free and there are plethora of community developed maps available to give this title extended life. The action is fast paced and rewards teamwork. Online stats are extensive and allow players to compare performance for bragging rights. All in all you have nothing to lose by giving Alien Swarm a shot. Better than a lot of much more expensive games

A very average FPS. The graphics are a bit dated by today's standards (foliage especially) but the game play is fun and fast paced. Though the checkpoint save method can be a pain and the enemy AI is as dumb as they come, the "3 Star" action film feel and ability to knife dinosaurs more than makes up for it. Turok is old enough now that it can be had for a few dollars, and it's well worth playing at that price range. Set your expectations right and this title can offer some really good times.

Saints Row 2 is a gritty third person sandbox style adventure which plunks the player into the seedy gang life **** urban landscape. The game begins with the player breaking out of prison and beginning a non-linear journey to rebuild his gang to its former glory. The massive environment, over the top ridiculous characters, free form quests, and support for online coop play are clearly this titleâ

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

The Call of Duty series has always been renowned for its immersive campaigns, innovative multiplayer options, and overall high level of quality. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the first game in the CoD line to step outside of the World War II venue but it takes all its predecessors positive traits with it and manages to set a new standard for the series. The single player campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare delivers a heart pounding glimpse of how modern black ops missions are conducted. The action switches between British and US soldiers as they hunt for the leaders of a Middle Eastern terrorist group. All of the now standard FPS controls are present allowing the player to lean around corners to provide covering fire or to go prone to use tall grass to avoid detection. As expected the array of weapons available to help the player accomplish the missions is as diverse as it is impressive. Most importantly the campaign mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has the player working as a part of a team. Typical FPS â

Mirror's Edge

I really enjoy games that take risks in an effort to provide the player with a new and different experience. Mirror's Edge did just that. The game offered a first person prospective adventure with a focus on agility and speed. Far too many "run and gun" FPS games lead us through a parking garage or a warehouse, all the while throwing waves of repetitive enemies at us. You kill them all (maybe with the aid of a well placed explosive barrel or two), and move on to the next area. Stealth games have also flooded the market, rewarding the player for silent take downs. Mirror's Edge takes both gaming staples, combines them, adds some acrobatics, and puts the emphasis on speed instead of killing. In Mirror's Edge you play the role of a Runner; an urban courier who delivers packages by sprinting across city blocks and jumping from roof top to roof top. The game mechanics allow you to scale walls (by timing your jumps), fall great distances (as long as you are precise with your roll when you land), and use obstacles to help increase your momentum. You can stop to fight enemies along the way, but you're not a one man army, and can be killed with only a few shots. The game rewards you for finding safer and faster routes through an area rather than trying to take the enemy out head on. The controls give the player a sense that there isn't anywhere in the environment that is unreachable. The first time you build up enough speed to chain a roll into wall run and jump to hurdle over a railing, all without stopping, you'll really understand the strength of this game. The fluidity of movement is unmatched by anything else in the FPS market. Add to that a gorgeous environment, extremely well done sound, and a great story and you've got a game that is impossible to forget. At about five hours for the campaign Mirror's Edge doesn't drone on long enough for the parkour elements to wear thin, but it seem a little short. Price accordingly.

Talk about bang for the buck. This indie title offers one of the most fun and addicting combat flight sims ever made, and at a budget price. The single player modes exist and can be used to get the feel of the game but the multiplayer action is where the fun really starts. The variety of planes and weapons is great and the maps are very well thought out. While the game is still a bit rough around the edges constant new development and one of most well attended support forums in existence show this developer is dedicated to perfecting this game. Don't think about it, just buy it.
