Super Hiking League DX8
Jul 1, 2022
This game is not only a massive love letter to genuine 8bit games in all aspects, but super unique too. To describe it in one sentence: [Super Mario Bros. meets Umihara Kawase with a racing twist.] - It shines the most in couch multiplayer, but the single player is super good as well, with smart A.I. opponents, lots of unique levels and tons of unlockables. It’s quite cheap as well, so if you either look for a unique throwback platformer to tackle, or a great game for your next multiplayer evening, you can’t go wrong with this!

Super Mario 3D All-Stars5

Great games, but one of the worst legacy collections ever made. Stripped features, flawed emulation and close to no bonus content. A sad sight.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse9
Oct 2, 2020
The definite version of one of the best Shantae games, thanks to the exclusive optional 3D option. Highly recommended for all 3DS owners.

MindSeize9

A well-crafted Metroidvania, which pretty much plays like a 2D Metroid infused with DNA of late Mega Man titles. Tough difficulty, which got well-balanced through tight controls and a very varied move-set for the player. Players which are less skilled in harder action-platformer games have an Easy Mode available, which will manipulate the damage and enemy behavior a fair bit to their favor. There's four different planets to visit, each with it's distinctive settings, but still strong variance in the areas. Bossfights all need different tactical approaches and are one of the highlights in the game, along with the exploration - there's a ton of cleverly hidden and interesting upgrades to find. Beating the game for the first time without a guide took me about 18 hours, so the game's length is pretty decent too, while not overstaying it's welcome. I can wholeheartedly recommend MindSeize! PS: I played the original PC version back in February and the polish since then is simply incredible, kudos to the devs for improving so much on an already decent game!

One of the best arcade Shoot 'Em Ups ever made gets a remake that improves it even further in quite meaningful ways. Needless to say, this is perfection.

Kemono Heroes9
Aug 7, 2020
A real hidden gem on Switch! Kemono Heroes feels very much like a lost Konami or Capcom classic from the Super Nintendo-era, with tight gameplay and beautiful pixel art. And while it might not be relevant to everyone, the 4 player mode is really well executed.

Shadow Bug8

A really unique and fun platformer, both in presentation and play-style. If you are looking for a game that uses Switch's unique features without feeling gimmicky, but instead truly made for them, Shadow Bug is a real hidden gem for you.

Castle of Heart9

Really underrated game, likely because most of the press reviews were before the post-launch update. It feels very much like a modernized version of Ghouls 'n Ghosts, with challenging and varied levels.
