I specifically watched the trailer to ensure there were no timers. They were edited out of the trailer. There are timers. They are pointless. You get so many "gems" via play that you can just send the person they show in the trailer off to do the busywork for you. End of game is bugged. You're told to build a series of items (not naming them in case that's seen "spoilers"), but the game no longer shows you the path when you hit ZR. I was missing a few items, I went off and got them then I am 99% sure I built them. Then one or two **** the game is still claiming that one is incomplete.

What can I say good about this game?
Well... it never crashed, the audio is okay and the art is nice. Unfortunately, with random puzzles and a nonsense story...that does not make a game in my view.

A game with potential that is severely hurt by that fact that it's a phone port... First let me say that I have sent the company an email advising of these issues, and as I'm leaving this review just after finishing level 219, there is still time for them to patch this stuff out I plan to return and at least put a note at the end if I ended up having to bang my head on the wall the full time or if the patch finally arrived. So now: the gameplay issues...
First, I use a controller, because I am playing on a Switch in docked mode. If anyone thinks I should have used touch-screen, they may have missed that I'm playing on a Switch and not a tablet. My tablet has a bigger screen than my switch does.
That being said: Controls are very sub-optimized. When you move between buildings, tour circle turns blue on your buildings or on buildings the enemy has already conquered, and is a very hard to see grey on the neutral ones. Good luck spotting where you are if you accidentally touch the left-stick and your cursor moved. On top of that, it's often very unclear where you'll go, even if you aim at a building right beside your current location. This wouldn't be an issue, if it wasn't for the basic gameplay. If you and an enemy have regular buildings trying to take over a neutral building, Whoever is able to get there first tends to take the building over. Once that's done, the task is that much harder for you or the the AI to take that building back, since the player is now not only reinforcing their new conquest, but also likely sending out attackers from it. When you select one of your buildings to direct your forces, the game lets your cursor jump all over the city. It seems logical to just limit movement in those instances to buildings that you can actually interact with, but that either wasn't thought of or no one wanted to bother with coding it. Then there are the display issues... Because this is just a phone-port, there's two currencies in the game and the balance is very poor to try and get people to use the "boosts". I don't use the boosts, and am struggling with the control issues, so let's say I'm having a bad time that the mobile crowd might not even notice as they shovel money in to micro-transactions. Worse, though, is that during a level the "diamond/gem" icon is to the left of the "gold/coin" icon. This results in the top-right building of anything but he most compact map being hidden behind the "gems". You have no clue what abilities the building has, what the population is...Nothing past the colour and, if you're very lucky, the number of connections it has in use and available. What should have happened here, was automatic unlocks of the new skins when you reach the levels they're currently available for purchase, and re-balancing to either completely remove the boosts, or have a set number that can be used per map, making it part of the puzzle instead of a "let's get this over with" button. When I played the first few levels of this game, when the display issues we're visible and the control issues were hidden (both thanks to the maps being small to start), I would have rated this an 8 or a 9. The animations are cute, the controls are simple and the mix of buildings can make some levels a nice challenge. Unfortunately, the fact that you can be forced to restart any given level if the cursor just does not want to let you select the building you're pointing at drops it down to the current 4. If there's a patch before I finish the game, I'll update here. If there isn't, I'll also update, so you don't think I just gave up on it and it was patched afterwards. Any patches after my update of this review obviously won't be reflected. I see this very much as a game I delete once it's done, unless there's magically a "random" mode unlocked at the end.

The game has a veneer of creepiness, but it wears of rather quickly when faced with multiple nonsensical puzzles and I am also not a fan of constantly having typos and text short-hands in character's speech. It isn't cleaver if just appears lazy, like they didn't bother to get anyone to edit the script. Not a game I ever see myself playing again. It has some potential, but it failed to build on it.

Cons: Religious undertones to the narrative, platforming onto exceedingly tiny targets with no indication of where you're going to land (aka no shadow) and with a need to constantly go over the same ground repeatedly if you want to get collectibles that are on the same path... I also didn't like the "Spirits" design. Pros: The other NPCs were nice. All except for one or two of the questlines were easily enough to navigate, despite the simplistic maps. A short game, but it might be worth it on sale.

Game is okay. Clearly on the same gameplay loop as Papers Please, though with a less serious tone. Unfortunately there is a KNOWN bug that breaks the game on the last day of the second planet. I'll update the review if it's fixed. Apparently it was patched out before but has reappeared... EDIT: The original review was put up on May 4th, 2024. As of the time of this edit (February 23rd, 2025) this known bug remains.

Do not purchase this if you're looking for the multiple fields shown in the video,or if you hopped to "Transform an untouched plot of land into the farm of your dreams. Design and customize every aspect, from the layout of your crops to the placement of charming farm structures. Your imagination is the limit!" There is ZERO customization. You have maybe 2 hours of very basic gameplay, then the game doesn't save anymore once you reach the jams (the last station). You unlock every item in order. An order you have no control over and one you are unable to skip. When you resume the game you'll also find that all items that were for sale are lost (along with uncollected money). There is also a 10 minute timer for a wheel which does nothing past giving you a few dollars in game.

EDIT: Previous review below to show issue that can still exist in game.
The game is a poor man's Opus Magnum, but with voiced cut scenes.
There was a bug found as noted below which soft-locked progress. The issue is that you can't have any part of a larger construction resting outside the screen. The game doesn't give you any warnings when that happens, it just doesn't work anymore. Old review: It had promise, but a few levels in it started glitching out and causing me to continually restart the level in the hopes that the next time it might let me actually complete the level. Sometimes it worked, by "saving" (exiting to the main menu and resuming "saves"), but often it glitched again before I could even do that. Should not have been released in this state.

An overblown "my, aren't you special" storyline (making it quite clear that the only reason you can get things done in universe is because your character is so bloody special) distracts from somewhat enjoyable exploration. Severe lack of optimization on PC makes for abysmal loading times when you boot the game (somewhat better between area). Worst offender limiting exploration, though, is the absurd limitation on "gear" you can carry vs how much is shoved in your face. I ended up scrapping some just so that I'd not have to return to a dungeon later just for a pair of gloves or some other thing. Better hope you don't mind looking like a mismatched mess, either, since it's that or be under-powered. No option to "hide" a hat or the glasses the game tries to shove on you. (I ended up playing under-powered as I refused to any of the hat or glasses options. Glasses are not a cosmetic choice, they're used to offset a physical disability which results in abnormal vision...) Quests, even puzzles, hold your hand excessively. You got a map with images you're expected to follow to find a place? Too bad! Here's a yellow line spoiling it. Character modelling looks very off, and someone who was coding messed up somewhere, since there were at least two places where characters were supposed to be sad, but then flipped to a smile before the camera cut away (once when discussing an NPC's parent, another for an NPC's brother). There's also some sections where I guess no one figured you might turn the camera back to see your character and the NPC beside them, because no one seemed to have animated your character in those parts. When you're trying to speak to an NPC, or take in the ambience in a village, the game will not only do a pop-up that you have an "Owl Post", but start playing it instantly, cutting off all NPCs mid-sentence. There are also ZERO choices in dialogue past questions you can ask to flesh out your knowledge. The option to say yes is ALWAYS the only way to leave. (One singular exception to the rule seems to be classmates that offer ways you can get in trouble. All other Quests, though, have auto-acceptance.) Lessons are sporadic at best and nearly-absent at worst. Your "starting as a 5th year" thing is rolled into your "oh so special" status. Your character's soul is also a ragged, shredded mess, since you're killing humans left and right. And **** combat rather ****. You are nearly always outnumbered, leaving things to quick time events and spamming your 4 spell slots, maybe using items from time to time. The auto-lock seemed to have a mind of its own and rarely decided to work for me. If you can managed to avoid the Owl Post interruptions (mainly by ignoring the main plot, I would guess), you might have an enjoyable time exploring, but this thing needed a lot more time in the oven before it was released. (And note this is from the January 2024 build, so they should have fixed this by now.)

As several other reviews mentioned, the game gets very repetitive. The storylines are okay, but there's no way to skip the cutscenes if you had to restart a day, and all the images in game show a red dragon, when that's not always what you'll have around. Game could have done with someone to at least collect the eggs and dragon poop for the player, if not the other renewing resource collection methods near the Café. Some way to balance the menu would have also been nice, and to pitch in to cook, since the staff are so unreliable.

There is a message about mental health at the start which is on the screen for such a short time that I'd only noticed it was two paragraphs before it disappeared. I actually had to use the Switch's video recording option to crop out the image to read it. It also lacks any seizure warning, despite the extreme flashing white light in the introductory video.

Do NOT purchase if you're playing solo. This game is not at all balanced for solo play. Some later game/DLC "distractions" for groups are set to just pad the required replays of a level and increase reliance on luck and randomness. Is the distraction going to ruin something nearby or on the other side of the map? Who knows!? Honestly, if they allowed you to rotate the map without holding the blueprints (again, only for solo play), this might get a seven or eight, but I feel like I'm being overly generous with the five as it stands.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line2
Sep 26, 2023
The game is fine, as far as rhythm games go, but they've severely over-filled the starting games (which I'd suspect are those you can access in the demos), and ignored the rest. FFVII has 7 characters. FFX has 3. So for the first game, which you can unlock right away, there are nearly 2 full teams. For the second, you don't even have one team. Your options are play FFX levels without a full team or break your immersion having a random character from another game along for the ride. The tutorials also need a lot of work. They're fine for the basic levels, but there are none I could find for the higher difficulties, which have new combinations of actions which are required. That would be somewhat less of a problem if the requirements for completing some levels wasn't to do so on the higher difficulty levels. EDIT: I have discovered that not only to the DLCs only contain songs and no characters or scenes (semi-expected), but that the "news" option on the main page of the "Premium Digital Deluxe Edition" is just ads for more PAID DLC!

Maybe a 6 or 7 if they controls were at all reliable. Unfortunately, using touch or joypad, the game lines to show you the track for a fraction of a second, then make it just be a gray line with lines in it. While you're trying to figure out why the heck the train didn't move despite the fact that you SAW THE TRACK RIGHT THERE you get read-ended by another train that you would have avoided with ease had the person who was tasked with coding the controls not taken a nap that day. If the controls are ever fixed, and I am somehow advised, I will update this review. For now: Save your funds. EDIT: Small update to the post-release. Trains are slightly less likely to randomly decide not to follow your directions. Unfortunately, there's only about an 80% chance on a good day that tapping a key sill actually get a train to put on the brakes.

I managed to get 3-stars on all the unlocked levels, despite: 1. slow loading times each time you boot up the game; 2. the inability to fast-forward once you've put items in place and know your solution is correct; 3. the absurd fluctuation in requirements for 3-starts between levels with similar goals; and 4. the hit-and-miss nature of the collisions between various characters on the map. Despite this, the final level of "Leisure Park" never unlocked. It remains named "???" with no usable items and nothing happening when you attempt to select it. "100%" with this glitch is 100/100 kids and 207/210 stars.

There's a fair amount of pixel hunting at times, and it's rare that I'd recommend someone play in hand-held mode to actually get a better of things, but the thing that really drags down the score for me is the controls. You push up and down on the right stick to Zoom in and out. Left and right on the right stick turns the images. R and L make the image slide to the sides. Left stick does moves the selector. This results in you being able to Zoom in for a closer **** the center of the images. You can't easily get a good view at the edge, if at all. This is a bit baffling, as the arrow keys are completely unused and could have been used to move the imaged up and down. Also taking down the score is the fact that you either find all five differences, or the game doesn't save anything you've found. I unfortunately discovered that after finding 4/5 in one scene, going to the selection menu and finding 0/5 when I returned to try it later.

This game only had the advertised 40 levels and they are by no means complex. I spent less than half an hour from purchase to completion of the game. The music is fine, though since the levels are so short the little meow each time you tuck the critter into its bed started to grate on my nerves, so I muted the game rather quickly. I played the full game in hand-held mode and experienced a little motion sickness when leaves started to fall across the screen. There was also an issue with one or two levels being too zoomed out for them to be easily made out. Moving the cat is generally okay, but expect that you'll run into (and get stuck on) a lot of fences. Plenty of levels have paths are are barely as high as the furball and are easy to miss when passing.

If you like playing in hand-held you might have a better experience with this game. Unfortunately, the controls (especially in menus) completely ignore inputs when trying to make a selection. Each time I wanted to switch Skills, for example, I needed to undock the Switch in order to proceed. A lot of inventory wasted for the same reason. I just wanted to move about the menu and see descriptions of what I collected, but I instead used items because it never allowed me to select anything but the first item. (The inventory issue was not see in battles. Again, it's the menus that are exceptionally buggy.) EDIT: I had to bump down from 5 to 2 of 10. The menu issues absolutely continue even in hand-held mode. Shops are exceptionally buggy when trying to buy and sell. EDIT 2: Dropped to 0 stars. There is a game-breaking bug when you hear the "dungeon" with no map. It's random if it freezes when you encounter the first NPC or when you're in the boss fight, but it's each time. Then the game punishes you by taking away health, wealth and items if you close the game and open it up to get out of the frozen state. Considering how difficult it can be to same up coins to purchase items, and how you need to go out of your way to reach shops, that's the last straw.

The controls are rather horrendous just in general gameplay, but if you manage to slog through long enough to meet a certain projectile I'm sure you'd discover they're even worse. (Sorry, don't want to include spoilers so I need to be vague.) Worse, though, is that the checklist for the collectables appears randomly, there's no way to turn off hints for the main mission and there is no warning before you're booted to the next Chapter. If you want to go back and get missed items you'll be rewarded with list progress.

Immortals Fenyx Rising7
Aug 20, 2021
The game lacks some features that bring down the score: Mainly an ability to confirm your progress (missing both a way to track overall progress and a way to ensure you have all points of interest marked on the map). The controls take some getting used to, but the game is forgiving if you run out of stamina and need to fast-travel to a nearby location instead of dying. Unfortunately, the ending came out of the blue and, in my view, made all your struggles to that point meaningless. The DLCs do build on that ending, but that doesn't excuse it. It is nice that your unique Fenyx will carry over to the DLCs they appear in.

Immortals Fenyx Rising: A New God6
Aug 20, 2021
The DLC continues right on to ending of the full game (and offers a warning of potential spoilers at the start, which is nice for those playing for the first time). Unfortunately, the trials are a lot of the same thing over and over again, and much of the platforming is down to split-second timing. Since the controls are not the best, that's not a good thing. The DLC does not have any indication of when you've completed it, but it does improve on the base game in limiting the amount of items you need to pixel-hunt for, in order to have them marked on the map. I experienced bugs in relation to collectables remaining in the inventory after they were turned in (2/24 items did this). This thankfully did not prevent me from completing that side-quest, and the DLC. The characters' personalities appeared to be on point, in relation to the first game's representation.

The game starts you with a character you are not able to customize, locks the camera in a top-down view that proceeded to give me a headache in short order, and severely stunts the new character to the point that she can't even sprint! Utter waste of time unless you enjoy: 1) moving your characters back and forth for turns on end until the AI randomly lands in the right spot; 2) restarting a level because of a misclick, since the devs didn't bother to just give an "undo last action" button; 3) move across overly large levels to do the same mindless actions over and over again; and 4) telling the game _every round_ that you'd like to speed up the NPCs' movements.

Good puzzle game with a few minor issues. There were a few sections that I nearly went to a guide for, but I did end up figuring them out on my own. (Just remember that there's a bit of pixel-hunting to do to ensure nothing's missed if a scene is changed.) All characters are voice-acted well enough, except for the main character. The game has a cute story and it switches setting semi-regularly, which is good. (Though some of the implications as to the main character's morals and priorities can be a bit troubling.) Unfortunately, there are multiple grammatical errors in the text and there's a bug with any item that requires you to pick up a plate/cone/container and select three other items to go into it. More than half of the time, the game does the animation, but the completed item never appears. This can cause you to miss the full order bonus, despite making no errors in the input on your end.

I purchased this game after watching several Let's Plays of it. Unfortunately, those LPs were of the PC version of the game. The "Couch Edition" still have bugs that were patched out ages ago on PC. I'd say wait until you can confirm it's got the save version number at the PC version (which just got _another_ big update), or just get it on PC. Game's interesting enough, but the dev's on Twitter just keep passing the buck on the fact that it's missing so many patches.
