The Sarah Silverman Program perfectly balances satire and absurdity. While doing so it pulls off the balancing act of poking fun at contentious issues and not coming off as offensive. The protagonist is so zaney and absurd that the issues being made fun become trivialized and the audience becomes more amused at the protagonist’s antics. It pulls off the difficult act of subversively poking fun at controversy.
