In season two, The Magicians is darker, deeper, and just plain better than it was in season one, and it makes a claim for being one of the most unexpectedly great shows on television.

In terms of the show’s abundant and well-executed sleights of hand, this one ranks high, as does the beautifully produced, multilayered, creepy, funny, and solidly acted season it arrives in.

The show won me over in season 1 and the characters have grown on me during season 2. Although, the beginning of season 2 and it's conclution of the season 1 plotline felt like it actually belonged into season 1. So, plot development was a little weired. However, plotlines and character development are interesting and suspenseful and among the things that happen, there are many that are surprising and unexpected. Definitely one of the better and entertaining shows on TV.

The Magicians overall has come into its own far faster than its young witches and wizards. There’s even more of a sense of playfulness to the material.

All in all, The Magicians Season 2 is mostly off to a great start. It has a pretty serious villain problem that prevents it from a cohesive greatness, but the charisma and wit of the cast and writers go a long way towards smoothing things over.

The well is tainted; the magic, gone for me. I'm putting away the anti-childish ting that is The Magicians. [27 Jan 2017, p.52]

'The Magicians' is visually bold and brilliant but the cheesiness of dialogues and jokes make it somewhat childish sometimes, despite the characters being throughoutly enjoyable.

I just finished watching The Magicians season 2. It was . . . OK. I still like most of the characters. Elliot really gets to shine and has the best material in the entire season. He basically makes the show worth watching. The characterization of the rest of the characters is just terrible. They still write Quentin as a spineless, neurotic weak man. He is a little odd and neurotic in the books, but an amazing magician. The show makes Julia and Alice much more competent than the male characters for no obvious reason other than "girl power." Julia's character in particular is terrible. She SPOILER gets an abortion of the baby conceived by the trickster god, even after she meets another demigod that is a perfectly wonderful human being. So the show is promoting weak male characters, overly strong female characters and abortion. Ugh. The whole "Shade" nonsense is also terrible. Julia just becomes an out and out psychopath but they keep letting her walk around and screw stuff up. For powerful magicians they are pretty much screw ups. There is also a lot of pg sex thrown in that doesn't seem to advance the plot, and isn't actually sexual. It is odd.

Loved the books/Hated the musicals in season 2: so lame, and was super annoyed by the excessive cursing by every single character in the show. It's ruining the show: dragons are ancient creatures of wisdom: cursing is just so lame for dragons and completely ruines their character and the viewer's experience. And the voice?? They gave it some lame, quiet woman's voice??? Seriously?! It's a dragon! They couldn't add some thunder to that voice?? Did it have a throat the size of a mouse??! The white stage: a magical creature from another world ancient in days: the show totally ruined it, made it into a half-assed woman looking creature that talks like a junky and curses like a teenager who feels the need to prove to everyone that she's tough, because that's all she has going for her: so disappointing.

still crap. still sex only. still no good story. watch porn and leave this be. I've watched this episode only because of the cliffhanger of last season. I watched it at 3x speed with subtitles as I hated all the empty spaces in between dialogues and I didn't miss much
