Hands down the best sci-fi comedy sitcom series of all time. Red Dwarf is definitely one of the "best of British" TV. Highly recommended. Humour holds up to this day and it's always good for a good laugh! 10/10

Would watch it over and over again.. I really loved the series, watched season 1-9 in my whole winter vacation, Old school British sci-fi comedy. i don't care if it doesn't have the best effects, but it is really funny!

Arguably one of the best science fiction comedy shows ever. Amazing casting of the leads, with the "friendship" of Rimmer and Lister being so enjoyable it carries entire episodes where nothing really happens. Like any show, there are a few episodes that feel phoned in, mostly in the "monster of the week" category that doesn't advance the characters, but they are still mostly enjoyable. My only real complaint is the character of Cat feels like an afterthought compared to Lister, Rimmer, and later Kryten. I'd say my favorite episodes are Polymorph, Dimension Jump, and Quarantine. I could watch it endlessly.

This is by far one of the best sitcoms of the eighties. Though it has diminished somewhat in quality since the original two seasons, this original one was brilliant fun. It was hilarious, and played to the odd-couple relationship between Lister and Rimmer. The later series lost that, but this is definitive, and one of the best science fiction shows ever.

It's kind of weird when you look at it at first. But the characters grow up in your mind and you suddenly find this sitcom absolutely fabulous! British producers often create good and amazing tv shows, packed with bright ideas and colorful imagination, and, in this field, Red Dwarf deserves all our admiration. For my taste, seasons 4-6, and 8 are the best. But 7 and 9 are forgettable. 1-3 are classics. Do the maths, it's a great show!

I honestly don't get Red Dwarf. I don't get the appeal, I've sat through five full seasons and never really found anything funny about it. There's been some interesting ideas raised, but - at least for me -it's not for me, too much comedy of a style I can't find funny. It's got good acting and -for the jokes, if you like them-it's good. The 5 rating isn't because it's bad, it's just a middle of the road rating for me.

Red Dwarf has certainly developed a cult following since its debut in the late eighties, despite watching a number of episodes across various series however, I've just never understood its appeal. It's certainly a unique programme with a cast of interesting characters but, and this is obviously important for a sit-com, it’s just never particularly funny. Add to this an irritatingly dated laugh track and this has never been a show for me.
