This hour-long dramedy relies heavily on Ritter’s ability to sell its outlandish, at times confusing, premise, and to the degree that it succeeds, it’s almost entirely due to the star’s powers of persuasion over any objective standard.

This sounds sappy, but this series doesn't pontificate. Inspirational and playful, it teaches its endearing lessons in an entertaining way. Filled with light humor and heart, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is a show with potential.

I wasn’t sure about this show for the first couple episodes, but I am obsessed now. The message of trying the best you can to do good in the world, even if you screw up sometimes, is so refreshing. Also, I love the way the show examines how a person finds his or her purpose in the world through each character’s personal journey. The spiritual without shoving religion at the audience makes the show and the message more accessible. Jason Ritter shows he has the same “slapstick with a heart” skill his father had. Joanna is charming and intelligent as his twin, and I LOVE Kimberly as Yvette. The chemistry between Jason and Kimberly is great. I’m looking forward to watching the various subplots develop as well: Kevin’s niece, Nate and Amy dating, Kevin’s old flame, and so on. It’s a great combination of procedural with each step to find the righteous souls and ongoing arcs with the stories surrounding Kevin and his family and friends.

I absolutely love this show - and recommend it to anyone looking for a positive show that will leave you feeling better about humanity. I wish it had a better timeslot - ratings reflect the challenges of a 10pm Tuesday show that isn't about crime, murder, or sex. Why this is a 10pm and Gotham is an 8pm is beyond understanding. I'd love to let my kids watch Kevin Probably, but they have 8pm bedtimes. Great cast, wonderful writing, and lots of hearts. I hope it survives for a second season - we need more shows like Kevin!

We know this is sappy stuff, potentially, but it can be funny, too! Whether “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” can walk that line is a question later episodes will have to answer. Meanwhile, for all its weird mythology, the values it espouses are simple: Be good, and if you can't be good, act good, which will lead eventually to being good.

Quibbles about the premise aside, Ritter makes and sells this show. He balances the pathos and the comedy. In lesser hands, this hour just would not be appealing.

The rules explained by the angel (Kimberly Hebert Gregory, replacing Cristela Alonso from the pilot) are both complicated and nebulous, and it’s not clear what Kevin is supposed to do beyond being a do-gooder. Maybe “Touched by a Guy Touched by an Angel” is what this show is going for?

Quibble over the categorization all you like, but that won't make Kevin any less of a chore to watch. A variant of the tasked-by-an-angel genre that stretches back to It's a Wonderful Life and perhaps beyond, the show is theologically unglued and emotionally dopey.

The first episode is so sappy it belongs on pancakes--and, yes, I realize the world is hurting, but patronizingly low-grade inspirational junk like this is not the answer to anyone’s problems.

This show is absolutely fantastic. It has a lot of heart, but it's also funny. Jason Ritter is amazing. As The Mayor, this drama is hopeful and believes that there is more good than evil in the world and that's just great. There should be more shows like this on TV. Escapism at its best.

I am surprised that the show's producers did not ask Morgan Freeman to guest star. While there are portions of this show that were amusing, I felt the concept was a rip-off of the movie were Freeman played God.

I desperately wanted to Love this show. I agree with previous posters, it is positive, heartwarming, and silly. We do need more mainstream positive feel good media. As hard as i try, it just doesn't capture my interest, it's like reading the same page of a book over and over. If it doesn't grab you, it just doesn't. Kudos for trying ABC, I hope the rest of Hollywood continues the trend. And maybe, you will prove me wrong further into the plot.

After the first 3 minutes, I thought this was really well written. We got so much information about the family and characters and their back stories in just a couple of scenes. But throughout the show it went from serious drama with a side of comedy to comedy with a side of light drama to sappy happy ending. This show needs to decide what it's going to be and then stick with it. If anyone can pull it off, it's Jason Ritter, but give him a good script to work with. Update: It's just not working for me. Right from the statement "find what the universe wants of you", as if the 'universe' is sentient. I get they didn't want to get religious, but the very nature of the show has religious connotations. So I'm done. I still gave it a 3, though, because, well, Jason Ritter.
