High School Musical 2 is very good. It's more than listenable. The music is surprisingly catchy, smartly penned and not annoying.

HSM2 is better than the original, and not only because its production budget is reportedly triple the first cable movie. The songs are bolder.... The acting by the returning well-scrubbed cast is better.

This sequel is a lot better than the first movie. The songs are better, +1;
The much superior story, +1;
The villain's plan, +1;
But Troy himself and his poorly delivered and written dialogue, -1.
All in all, High School Musical 2 gets an 8/10 from me.

I consider High School Musical to be kind of average and the second part is almost the same, maybe a little worse. The school setting here has been replaced by a kind of desert where the main character has come to work for us and gradually the plot develops. Nothing special. Songs again every now and again. Whether better or worse is hard to say. For me a below average film and I recommend it only to fans of High School Musical.
