I wanted to love this show. I'm a huge fan of Will Arnett's, and liked the Venice Beach setting. But unfortunately the balance between humour and drama is totally off. It's simply not funny enough, and the drama feels contrived and unrealistic. The secondary characters are underwritten and profoundly annoying, and the central plot is unbelievable and soap-opera-like. Arnett's charm forced me to watch the whole series, but it was losing me episode by episode. Maybe a bit more time spent on the writing could have turned this into something half-decent, but I can't recommend this to anyone.

It's such a crime there is no third season. This show is one of Netflix's finests. The rawness of it, it chemistry between Chip and London, every character is a delight to see. It doesn't have one bad episode.

The show accurately portrayed flawed, imperfect people in sometimes comic, many times real, sometimes tragic, and usually challenging situations. If you have empathy for people and their situations and challenges (regardless whether they are their own fault) and want them to do better and meet those challenges and overcome their weaknesses, you will love this show. If you relish experiencing the laid-back beach vibe that many coastal communities have, this show offers you a way to experience a bit of that even if you can’t get to those places in-person - often or ever. The show was very well-acted. I Iiked and rooted for all the characters. Will Arnett did an excellent job - I am now a definite fan of his. I had never truly appreciated his talent prior to this show. Also, excellent job by the other main characters as well - David Sullivan, Ruth Kearney, George Basil. And kudos to all the supporting cast. I’m missing this show already and only just finished season 2. They should keep making more seasons of this show for people that just wanna hang out with this community and group of people even if there’s drama and heartache that sometimes goes along with it.
