The movie, for true-crime fans, is a terrific retelling of the case.

Lifetime's latest ripped-from-the-headlines biopic, about alleged wife-killer Drew Peterson, is salacious, sinister and downright sleazy. It's also as irresistible as a piping hot box of Dunkin' Donuts munchkins.

A film that so deepens the dimensions of the known-all thanks to a masterful performance by Rob Lowe--it has the force and mystery of a new story.

Drew Peterson: Untouchable isn't a terrible movie. But it is the victim of a bad casting decision that put Lowe in the loafers of this puffy, inexplicably cocky and occasionally charismatic cop.

Lowe's Midwestern accent comes and goes, but in general it's a performance that will make viewers plow through the darkness and keep watching.

The performance and the script's stretches (stick around for Peterson's climactic strip search) are less convincing than campy.

The incomplete nature of the story (based on a book by Joseph Hosey) doubtless handicapped the filmmakers, but even so, the movie withers due to its inability to get under Peterson's skin.

Watch it to laugh, and you'll have a lot of fun.
