The supporting cast (including Scott McNairy, Kim Coates, and Daniels’ Newsroom costar Sam Waterston) is strong, but no one is more electric than the always extraordinary Merritt Wever. ... And yet, the series still sometimes feels self-indulgent and self-congratulatory, with its looooooonng shots of horses running through water or tousled-haired townsfolk looking out in the distance. ... At least when Wever is on screen, schooling a shop owner with her pistol on why he can’t insult her niece, the show seems to find a more comfortable stride.

With that many hours to fill [13], and that much talent behind and in front of the camera, the show might have chosen to make a broader statement on video game culture. As is, the show is like a fun game you can immerse yourself in, but not one that goes to the next level.

There's no doubt that the former heavyweight champ comes off far better than you ever imagined in this filming of his 2012 Broadway one-man show, directed with spark and sincere admiration by longtime friend Spike Lee.

The show has potential. Cameron possesses all the spunk and talent of the Demis and Selenas before her, and Jessica Garcia plays the most endearing G-rated high school tough girl since Jo Polniaczek.
