What makes it all work, though, is that these debaters aren’t merely improvising, which would have resulted in lazy comedy, at best. They have put in serious preparation time.

Riding herd over his Debate Wars charges, Black’s silly sententiousness keeps this six-episode comedy referendum fairly balanced.
