2 Dope Queens belongs on your watch list.

The experience remains as incisive and intimate as that of listening to Robinson and Williams crack jokes through your earbuds, thanks in part to Tig Notaro’s direction of all four episodes.

HBO's 2 Dope Queens plays as nothing less than an extended audition for a talk show or comedy showcase that you're going to be upset isn't airing weekly, or even nightly, in perpetuity.

The beauty of these shows is their informality or, in any case, the impression of informality they give. Good comedy always seems to come from the moment, when you can't tell the old material from the improvised. ... The hosts are smart, sweet and centered enough that they can handle the lowest topics in a way that feels innocent and refreshing.

Ms. Williams and Ms. Robinson share an obvious comfort with each other and a confidence in their ability as performers. As a result, the show feels both spontaneous and polished like a ruby.

Although there are only four episodes of 2 Dope Queens, the ones I’ve seen make a convincing case that we need to see Williams and Robinson in late night on a more regular basis.
