For a dumb genre pic, What Lies Below is as goofy and fun as it is wet and…weird. Don’t spoiler alert your friends, let the ogles and giggles surprise them as much as it will you.

What Lies Below offers a twist on two underrated sub-genres, but its identity crisis causes this aquatic horror creature feature to sink, not swim.

If you’re looking for a movie grab you into it’s reality, raise some hair on your skin and has a driving female force (something many films need more of!), this is definitely the movie for you. “What Lies Below”, on a formal level, is incredibly impressive and pleasing to the eye, from its camera work to its coloring, and of course, it is all pulled together with convincing dialogue, and a strong character performance. Don’t miss out on this gem. It’ll definitely be a movie to watch twice, three times, four times, and more... We want more from new dir. Braden Duemmler!

Beautifully shot. Loved the lighting and sound. Great work from an exciting new director.

With its gleefuly nihilistic and destructive ending, What Lies Below ends on such a flat note that it makes everything before it seem like an inconsequential and/or needlessly convoluted set-up.

The denouement when it comes is meant to be shriek of pure sci-fi horror; but really, you’d find better entertainment – and more energetic acting – watching a fish tank.

Finally a horror movie with a new plot and good acting. It made you think from the beginning and it was different than any other movie, it kept making you think it was like others but then had a twist. The location was gorgeous too, natural setting with beautiful views. I hope that this director/writer comes out with more movies, it’s just what we needed for 2020!

this was way better than i expected, i thought this was gonna be some kind of corny Lifetime romantic thriller but this really surprised me. i don't want to spoil it but if you like Lovecraftian horror this will be a pretty good watch for you.

This movie was strange and not in a good way. It was very cliche in many aspects and very corny as well. I managed to watch all of it but I had to watch Youtube in between on my phone. Is not really good at what is trying to do. If you want something scary that is good? watch "The Hole in the Ground" from 2019 that movie nailed it very good movie. What Lies Below was pretty lame it tries but it doesn't come close to succeeding at all lol a low 6 out of 10 for me.

It had a lot of potential, but halfway in and every thing just became more and more predictable up to the point of the worst ending they could've gone with. The not so surprise twist! Only netflix would give this a number 1 spot
*Edit: I find it sketchy that the positive reviews are from people writing long reviews with big words and little, if any grammatical errors. It seems fake. F these phoneys.
