Not only is the film a compellingly told tale of suspense and terror, but it's crafted with such precision and sense of timing that one can cry "Masterpiece!" without being shamefaced or wondering if a hyperbole-induced crime against all good sense has just been committed.

Na’s screenplay takes viewers to the root of evil in a manner that subverts expectations and cleverly manipulates cause and effect at almost every turn.

The Wailing might be a somewhat meandering and nonsensical genre recombination, but that spell never breaks over its lengthy running time.

Two-and-a-half hours long, but never slow, The Wailing takes its time to burrow under your skin, but by the time it weaves its dark, potent spell, it leaves you with a lingering, unshakeable sense of dread that Hollywood horror films can rarely muster.

What makes The Wailing so unusually disturbing is the almost palpable aura of evil it radiates from calm start to sorrowful finish. More disturbing still is the way that evil can seem indistinguishable from compassion.

That the film has so many partial reference points only makes the ultimate amalgamation stranger, as the chimeric whole can't be fully explained by its parts. The Wailing enters the world malformed and screaming, as powerless to stop itself as we are.

This is horror filmmaking that's designed to work on you like a virus, slowly incapacitating your defenses so it can build up and do some real damage.

I dont understand the high ratings this movie has. Yes it had amazing cinematography and had you guessing who was actually good or bad the whole time but that's about it. Maybe my expectations had been high and some things went over my head but it simply wasn't a fun or enjoyable movie for me.

I was pretty excited for this movie after my friend suggested me & also after seeing film's high rating. In starting, film was going in good pace but after 45 minutes I was not able to take it anymore. It was unnecessary stretched. The director could have shown us much better in 2hr 30min. In between the movie, I was confused if I was watching horror or drama movie. I can keep on going on how bad this movie is compared to the reviews you read here. Overall, will not recommend this movie. Will recommend you to see better movies of same runtime (2hr 30min).

This movie is not one time watch movie rather, half time watch movie.useless of time.i don't know how this movie has got so many imdb raring.

I seldom am as disappointed by a film that gets such critical acclaim. I just couldn't get past big cops falling onto the ground in totally defenseless postures at the slightest threats. Also the high pitched whining that seems to be a staple of many Asian films annoys the hell out of me.
