This is the kind of movie where you can anticipate the next big shock and it usually arrives right on cue, and yet it still gets you right in the gut.

The horror movie The Gallows starts with a decent if improbable premise, and it ends with a pretty good jolt. But in between, the film sure wears out the already tired found-footage device.

Making audiences care about the characters is always a more effective fear-generating strategy than just knocking off a bunch of dimwits in the dark.

A ridiculous fusion of "Paranormal Activity" and "Glee" that is so incredibly dumb that it is almost, but never quite, scary to behold.

Sorry, but this kind of high-school horror was old when Jamie Lee Curtis was young. All the ugly, shaky, night-vision camerawork in the world will not make it seem fresh. Or remotely scary.

The Gallows offers exactly none of the frisson or pleasure of a found-footage film done right.

Loved it !! , The Gallows is a intense and a effective found footage film that has a few good scares up its sleeve. It's a very intense and scary movie, and it's definitely a movie you'll want to watch in the theater.

While the critics want you to completely write this off and the trailer may influence you to do the same, it's definitely worth a watch. It moves fairly slow at first, but once things get going and the clever storyline starts to unravel, it starts to get solid. I for one thought this was more enjoyable than the highly overrated but decent It Follows and think it's somewhat underrated.

It's a cheap jump scare movie. There's a bit of fun to be had, and it builds to an appropriate conclusion, but it's plagued by the same issues that most found footage movies are. Who found this footage? Why did they edit it together like this? How did people managed to keep cameras trained on them while they were being hunted by monsters? The titular noose is a somewhat unsatisfying conceit that is never adequately explained or contextualized (particularly notable given its connection to the Confederate flag controversy that erupted shortly before the release of this film). The performances are fine enough, and if you want to spend another 80 minutes of your life exploring the psyches of bratty teenagers, you can. At its best, though, the movie creates a sense of verisimilitude sufficient to sell its jump scares. Horror can be better than this, but at least the Gallows met its own goals.

I appreciated the ending of this film not only for its interesting twist but also because it was over. The Gallows is just another lazy found footage film.

The movie only had some moments that scare you, but they are not big deal, are only moments of surprise, but not terrifying scenes. It has a n extremely bad use of the camera, i know that the characters are the ones that hold them, but most of the time they record the floor or walls are you don't see a **** This movie if for a 0 bad lines, bad camera use, ver predictable, but it deserves a 3 only because of the ending that it was kind of unexpeted
