This is very well made but it is not great. It is just about above average. Considering that most people will have some basic idea of what this film is about having read the synopsis or seen the trailer, I think that they spend way too long setting up the premise. Even if you knew nothing about this film you would work out what they are building up to way before they get there. And this build-up offers very little in the way of characterisation but that is because the characters are generic and forgettable. Although, if you buy into the atmosphere then this setup is not as tedious as it sounds. The problem is that the forced jump scares go against this atmosphere. And this atmosphere is further ruined with some mild comedy. I saw the original The Crazies (1973) a long time ago so I don’t remember it that well but I can fairly confidently say that this film is better than the original but less memorable. There are some good gore and violence but plenty of convenient and unrealistic moments with them. The ending is a bit of an anticlimax.

I pretty much like the actors but omg what's the point remaking an old movie if you cut everything out. A quarantine, military shooting civilians.. that maybe was bold and fresh in 1970,:not anymore. The old one was pretty crappy but still a Romero, had a whole lot of ideas and passion. The craziness creeping, chaos. military and civilians shooting each other.. The pregnant lady was infected, then shot by civilians who mistook them for military. The immune main character was put with the infected without being tested, the doctor who found a cure was mistaken for a civilian and dies by accident, in the end the virus spreads. I also remember some weird scenes, a guy being shot in the head that caresses a tree before dying, or the main character piling up some bricks to hide his wife in plain sight on a construction site. Where tf is all that...

I'm a **** for zombie and infections movies. I can't help but watch them. Most of these movies fall into the B-movie category; The Crazies is no exception. The Crazies is an adaptation of a 1973 film of the same name. Gearge A. Romero directed the original; here, he's an executive producer. I discovered this fact while researching to write this review. In The Crazies, David, sheriff of the fictional town of Odgen Marsh, Iowa, has to shoot a civilian who showed up armed with a shotgun at a baseball game. The civilian was clearly affected by something that prevented him from thinking. Here, I think the problems are already starting for me. Odgen Marsh is a small town, with just over 1200 inhabitants, but it seems that there are only two police officers in town: David, the sheriff, and Russell, his assistant deputy. A man armed with a shotgun shows up at a high school baseball game, and no one decides to take shelter. David clearly shoots in self-defense, and yet it seems that some of the population condemn him for the act (but here, I can even see reality with today, where some values seem inverted.) David and Russell are super smart. Sometimes I don't like how protagonists can't seem to put the ends together, but David and Russell put them together accurately. In less than half an hour, they already knew they were dealing with some pathogen. A scene that ends in a scare felt forced just to cause pointless tension. David and Russell were working as a team, but for no apparent reason, David decides to go out alone when he realizes the problem is serious. A bizarre scene ends with a pretty dumb scare, with a guy with no chance of seeing warning David that someone is right behind him. There is little explanation about the pathogen. Despite an agent describing it as deadly, the only confirmed symptom is that the hosts become extremely aggressive. I couldn't close a pattern beyond aggression: at times, the hosts seem erratic; in others, they seem smart enough to set traps. The lack of consistency makes some scenes feel exploitative. Some scenes are classic horror scenes, like when David can't restart the car he just turned off. Others are funny for the wrong reasons, for example, when Judy, David's wife, decides to take the towels off the line because of an anxiety attack. However, the film is consistent in keeping us tense and curious for the end. One thing that annoyed me about the protagonists is the fact that they always walk on the road. At one point, they even ask if it's a bad idea, and indeed it is. Exposing yourself in this way is clearly idiotic; why not follow the road from a safe distance? The climax was expected. The events are tense, but the main reason for the events themselves was obvious to me from the middle of the movie. The outcome was acceptable. The scenes during the end credits, however, open the possibility for a sequel or a prequel, two aspects not explored until then. Considering the box office results, I imagine that these movies will not see the light of day. Recommended if you are a fan of movies about infection. The film is very simple because it only focuses on the survival aspect without wanting to be scientific, but it works. These types of movies aren't for everyone, that's for sure.

I just realized, after some reading, that this film is a remake of another film, already forgotten, from the Seventies. I will not be able to compare them, I have never seen him, but I will see. What I can say, surely, is that this film did not enchant me and I expected something more. The film is good enough to be worth it, but I don't know if I would be interested in seeing it a second time. I don't think it justifies it. All the action takes place in a small village in the North American Midwest, where a mysterious virus is causing a terrible contagious disease that spreads through the air and makes people go crazy and start behaving like psychopaths and murdering other people just because. The film does not enter into big rounds, nor does it present much of the situation: like the inhabitants of that place, we too are surprised and do not know exactly what is happening. From here, the film follows the attempts of the local sheriff and his assistant to leave the city without being arrested or even killed by the army, which invades the region. The film is not bad, but its loaded with clichés and uninspired scenes without originality, as if the director, Breck Eisner, had no confidence or interest in what he was doing and decided to just imitate "The Walking Dead" and other similar material. In addition, this film has a mostly average or mediocre cast, which neither shines nor adds anything truly good to the film. The exceptions are Timothy Olyphant and Joe Anderson, who gave life to the sheriff and his assistant in a competent and very committed way, where they would have surely achieved a better result with better material. At a technical level, its a film that fulfills what it promises: it has good cinematography and the sets and costumes are realistic and quite pleasant, but these are features that we could almost demand. The film keeps a pleasant pace, the visual, special and sound effects are very good and realistic. What I think was quite exaggerated was the creation of a whole ending so absolutely cataclysmic that it becomes far-fetched, like a parody. Finally, a word for the good soundtrack, which fulfills its role well.

Breck Eisner of the dismal Sagara directed this effective remake of the George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) classic. Although I've never seen the original I really enjoyed the new version. It doesn't really bring anything new to the table but in referencing modern films such as 28 Days Later and the Dawn of the Dead remake the movie had an undeniable ferocity to it and it's no doubt disturbing. The film centers around a small town where the residents begin acting strangely and than psychotically. Unlike other similar films they're still people but they act out on murderous impulses and have a great time while doing it. The movie is edge of your seat and the lead performances from hunky Josh Duhamel (Scream 2) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) as the sheriff and the town doctor are solid and relatable. Also good are Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th remake) and Joe Anderson (Horns). Although it covers familiar territory it does so in a refreshing way. All in all it's entertaining and creepy. Budget: $20m Domestic Box Office: $39m Worldwide Box Office: $55m 3.75/5

In spite of some of it script problems and a weak performance from Timothy Olymphant, what makes this remake work is its tense atmosphere and its beautiful cinematography. This is a rarity among recent horror rehashes in that it absolutely surpasses its source material.

A film with a lot of *ahem* heart, The Crazies not only improves on the original, but gives a "Walking Dead' style to the film (If you can see it) that makes It a film you can root for. With that being said, you should also be sufficiently entertained.

"The Crazies" sends you head-first into an appropriately crazy movie. It has great gore and makeup effects, the characters all had good personalities, and the acting and cinematography were great. The middle of the film does get a little slow, and there are some scenes that you just shake your head in disbelief at the plot holes, but this movie has a lot of great action, tension, and emotion.

Surprising solid. Definitely a few too many "convenient" moments, but that's common for horror films. Overall, I really liked this one. I definitely recommend it!

Everyone wants to take a shot at the post-apocalyptic zombie film. Someday, someone will make that film the right way, and I'll give it a four-star review. Unfortunately, today isn't that day, and The Crazies isn't that film. This Romero remake is the one that got away. But it was fun trying to land it.

A relentless, brutal horror remake that replaces thoughful scares for non stop brutality. Though the film isn't really very scary, the gore and brutal nature elevate it above most horror remakes.

For what It's worth, it must be hard to make a zombie-esque film as they've been done like dinner. Overcooked and all! Did 'The Crazies' feature characteristic, horror film cliches? Why yes, it did. Truthfully it would be hard not too given the genre is overstuffed with these type of movies. However the finished product (in truth) turned out to be a lot more fresh and original than most living dead features these days. Not too shabby for a remake. As long as you're not expecting to bare witness to a Academy award-winning screenplay you'll be fine.

It is scary and smart until the crappy and disappointing ending it has. It also features lackluster performances and predictable plot elements that have a major role in the film. I give this movie 55%.

A good movie from beginning to end, there are some moments where you'll shake your head in disbelief because of some bad acting or plot holes, but it's still enjoyable, and definitely a Romero classic.

Entertainment with style! For those who think zombie movies are just for fun, here is an example of the genre also includes aesthetic sophistication and can get rid of superficiality. I expected much less, I was pleasantly surprised by the embellishments added to the tension, horror, grief and a great script. Some parts are a bit predictable but it's still a really movie breathtaking. Recommended.

"The Crazies" was crazy! (That wasn't clichà was it?) This 2010 movie is a remake of George Romero's 1973 film also called "The Crazies". Director Breck Eisner completely modernizes the original story, turning "The Crazies into more than just your average zombie film where everyone just runs around biting people. Also any movie that starts off playing John Cash has to be half way decent, right? Read full review at ****

I actually think this a decent modern day horror/thriller movie. Men hold your woman close cause she may need to hold something. This simple zombie infested town actually had a good enough script to make it interesting, intriguing, and breathe taking.

The movie is good in places but so predictable and so cliche. The acting was mildly believeable which was a bonus. I loved the concept but the way it was directed led to a festival of stereotypical horror. This is definetley one for the popular horror market rather than the hardcore followers.

A pretty well-made film and it was done very well. I got the same feeling I got from 28 days later. There are a few scenes that terrified me, and there are a few scenes that pissed me off, but I would recommend this to anyone for a halloween-horror movie-extravaganza for those who still do them. All-in-all, good movie.

An actual good zombie(ish) movie. This one is a little different then the rest, because the people maintain some personality, they simply wish to kill more. Kind of weird and creepy near the end, but overall pretty good.

You will have seen this movie many times before and there was no real reason for a remake (since they didn't bother with updating the subtext much), but if the dawn of the zombie apocalypse holds strange fascination for you, you will not mind seeing ih again Midwestern-style. Far from great, this was still more fun than the latest two Romero offerings.

George A. Romero is credited all over as the king and father of zombie films for years he has given moviegoers some of the most frightening and definitive zombie films ever made and it all began in 1968 with a little know black and white independent film called "Night of the living Dead"(1968). Which is cited as the films that jump started the zombie sub genre (and officially began the zombie craze that has lasted far longer than it should have). Then in 1973 Romero came out with his second zombie another little know for film for its time tentatively entitled, â
