Run Hide Fight

An unapologetic old-school exploiter going full on for thrills and suspense, it’s undeniably polished and energetic, and features a couple of strong performances from young stars Isabel May and Eli Brown – but it feels fundamentally tasteless, indeed just plain wrong.

What's most notable about Kyle Rankin's slick and compulsively watchable genre entry Run Hide Fight is the utter shallowness of its psychological perspective.

At literally no point in this weirdly lumbering, sluggish movie’s narrative does its grotesque tastelessness ever appear to have occurred to anyone involved.

The film makes no attempt to grapple with the American school shooting as a nihilistic cultural phenomenon.

Merely pedestrian at the levels of direction, craft and performance, the film instead makes a grab for attention by peddling an ambiguous line on gun control and eye-for-an-eye morality. Any controversy that ensues, however, won’t disguise the phoniness of this exploitation exercise, which milks the worst fears of millions in pursuit of empty tension.

Run Hide Fight is a glib, artless, and reprehensibly stupid thriller that doesn’t even have enough on its mind to be provocative. It’s a movie made by someone who’s seen too many movies, and now made at least one too many as well.

Great actress. Plot is very relevant to current times. Movie has great message.

I really wanted to give this film more but it just didn’t resonate with me. The overall quality was there, the characters were well chosen. The main character was the most believable, but apart from a good budget, the script just didn’t cut it. There wasn’t enough depth or sophistication in the story to make it believable and this left if predictable and quite linear. Yes. They were certainly times you were glued to the screen because of the suspense of killers running around a school. But actually, they didn’t do much or go anywhere so after a while things became static. Things just felt a little rushed, with the right pacing and the interconnecting part would have flowed better to make a more dynamic film.

Riveting, gritty good edge of the seat action. You come in wondering how bad it can get and you find yourself cheering for the underdog!

This was bad. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it was quite bad. it is very easy to tell if you have a brain that this movie is just right wing propaganda + a school shooting. the only people that aren't straight people with "normal" (right wing idea of normal) interests are the school shooters. you smoke weed? yep, you're a school shooter. you're bisexual and live a polygamous lifestyle? school shooter. just a geek with computers? Spoiler! you're a school shooter! it is so very easy to see who this would pander to, and I haven't even mentioned how messed up it is to make a thriller movie about A LITERAL SCHOOL SHOOTING. P.S. if you look at all the reviews **** this movie off, you'll notice that they have only reviewed one movie.

I've seen many movies throughout my life, and frankly this one despite its disappointing quality made me think about what we consume as entertainment. School shootings in the US are all too common, but until now they have been untouchable in terms of the kind of story this film is telling. Run Hide Fight is basically Hanna meets Die Hard, and while it might be considered in bad taste for such a tragedy to be exploited in an action movie, tragedies of all kinds are exploited in multiple ways in film. Especially in the action genre. For god's sake, we turned the horror of war into entertainment, and yet the school shootings were untouchable, perhaps because they're a reality that feels too palpable, and a film like this also explores the hypocrisy of a society that has done nothing to remedy them. As a film or entertainment, I do not take anything from this failed attempt, but what has made me reflect is perhaps the biggest gain.
