The Guardian
RoboCop looks more than ever like Verhoeven’s masterpiece, a classic of 80s Hollywood and apart from everything else a brilliant commentary on the city of Detroit; hi-tech RoboCop is a harbinger of the decline of the automotive industry and the ruin-porn wasteland to come.

With its droll underpinnings, Robocop does for cyborgs and Detroit what "Blade Runner" did for androids and L.A.

Everything that 9 year old little me wanted in a movie and got at that perfect age! After seeing this movie at a sleep over with my best friend I was hooked! Everything I drew from then on was something to do with Robocop! Top of the tops! Action - check. Murder - check. Mayhem - check. Robot cops - check. Dystopian US cities on the brink - check. Dead or alive - you're coming with me!

One of the best 80s and sci fi movies off all time. An absolute classic in almost every way!

Robocop is one weird and entertaining hybrid of camp and sci-fi shoot-'em-up.

Though Robocop is too well-crafted to be entirely loathsome, it's at best an amoral goof. Yet like the comparably silly Lethal Weapon, it cynically pushes all the right action-audience buttons. Better duck - here comes a monster hit. [17 Jul 1987]

Great effects and a nasty undercurrent drive this vehicle.

The action is skillfully directed by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven, and there are many bursts of razor-sharp social satire. But the story amounts to a celebration of brute force in a crudely etched law-and-order context.

There's a brooding, agonized quality to the violence that almost seems subversive, as if Verhoeven were both appalled and fascinated by his complicity in the toxic action rot.

So-so, there's good and bad, it's supposed to be a story of redemption, but the media in the film push blatant propaganda and you end up realizing that Robocop is just an asset to push fascism.

Robocop suffers a lose of imagination and action, so this film is just a mediocre sci-fi film, withboring story-telling, simple interpretations and only violence in step of action, for try to entertain adult viewers. Nothing bad for that times...

It's pretty excessively and unreasonably violent, but it's also a pretty engaging revenge flick.

Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct) brings us 1987's Robocop which is an action sci-fi. Robocop is a film not shy when it comes to violence and the problem with the movie is that it has too much violence and some horrible scenes such as one of the badguys just fading away slowly due to chemicals or toxic waste after his vehicle crashes into a huge container.. Peter Weller and Nancy Allen get chosen to work together as cops, Murphy (Weller) gets shot up by some ruthless criminal gang so much he should be dead but he still has flashbacks of his wife and kid lol. Absolutely stupid considering he also got shot in the head and ridiculously laughable and them constant memories and flashbacks during the film make the movie even more unbearable plus the 6000 **** car commercial and the other commercials. The whole film felt horrible and disgusting and the villains were okay but all unlikeable and horrible and make Jack the ripper seem like a nice guy in comparison. Ronny Cox as **** Jones was rubbish and his acting ****. Way too violent, depressing, horrible movie.
