Despite this flaw, fans of the first film will still find things to like in the sequel.

ROTLD II may be junk, but at least in the hands of director Ken Wiederhorn it's efficient, well-filmed junk. [18 Jan 1988, p.7C]

I enjoyed this film. It is good, but not as good as the first film. It is crazier but less engaging as the writing isn’t as strong. It’s still a very cool sequence to the horror-comedy classic that is the original. It also suffers because the next sequel is so crazy you forget about this one in the middle. The makeup and special effects are excellent. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending, the first one did a much better job of ending but that doesn’t matter as the build-up was funny, violent and fun! If you watched the first then you might as well watch this on your path to the third one. Just don’t bother with the awful 2005 sequels.

One of the great abominations of horror film history. Almost everything that made the original unique and successful is neglected here; though there are a few passably amusing moments for those who've set their bar for "comedy" particularly low. An absolute insult to fans, one way or another.

Like too many genre directors these days, Ken Wiederhorn went for a mix of horror and comedy, and it's probably not his fault he succeeded mostly with the latter.

TV Guide Magazine
Director Ken Wiederhorn is a competent, if unremarkable, talent who handles the action scenes in a professional manner. His writing talent, however, is not equal to that of the first film's writer-director, Dan O'Bannon, and the sequel lacks its predecessor's snappy, biting dialog and O'Bannon's satiric edge.

Time Out
Unlike O'Bannon's film, this is merely repetitive and dull, the tedium relieved only by the graphic brain-eating and Philip Bruns' deliciously OTT performance as the mad Doctor Mandel.

Variety
Billed as a comedy/horror flick, Return of the Living Dead Part II is neither scary nor funny and adds salt in the wound with an obnoxious soundtrack of grating rock music.

Nasıl olsa izletiriz diye çekilmiş bir yapım daha. Bence hiç bulaşmayın. Vaktinize yazık.

The cast weirdly tries and I think sometimes they can make the movie a little humourous but for the most part, It's still an almost instantly forgettable movie. The zombies are rarely seen attacking anyone let alone being onscreen. They mostly are shown in a quick shot running around and that's about it.
