It’s all so confusing that I found it next to impossible to keep up with who’s who, how they’re related to each other, and why—and I found the script too baffling and sentimental to care.

The emotions about the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters are spot on, and there’s no shortage of star power. But there’s an insistently dour fog over the proceedings, and the film feels subdued and sedated without the levity to brighten up things.

At first one wonders what the hell is happening. Indeed, the first 20 mn is fragile and a little chaotic, trying to find it's pace and purpose. When suddenly, a true poignant dramatic scene embodied by C. Ricci's beautiful performance echoes with all the rest of a refined and all-star cast, isolated in different segments. The movie then manages to elegantly transmit a highly universal presentation of what it is to Mother in a strong, impacting and profound manner. I can't help to wonder if bad reviewers have indeed watch the movie until the end...

The women's perspective, about the women's troubles! It seems like a sequel to the recent film 'Fathers & Daughters'. But it was not and the narration had multiple layers. The stories of mothers and daughters, about their relationship and other related things. A feature film directional debut for the television filmmakers. Based on no book, but an original screenplay. The problem was the confusing narration, all the characters, too many of them stuffed together. Even the editing was not that convincing, though the actors were really good. A hard hitting, women oriented film as the title hints. Takes time to feel comfortable, but worth a wait. Focused on topics like pregnancy and other troubles in life, but all are concerned between women. So it's not a romance, but at the end, it ends as one. There are men too, though they doesn't count, hence no big names of the male actors. There's no big issue with the film, except it looks like neither theatrical or television film, but comes between them. At least some people would appreciate the effort, but most won't, particularly film critics didn't like it. So I believe you will make a right choice on this. 6/10

Somehow channeling the tone of both a Lifetime movie and an after-school special, Mothers and Daughters shambles into theaters oozing schlock and melodrama, just in time for Mother’s Day. This is no way to honor a beloved family member.

I predict that within a decade, Mother’s and Daughters will be mandatory viewing at film schools across the country. There are precious few such perfect examples of how not to make a film.

Stories interspersed with a good cast including Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Christina Ricci and Mira Sorvino, but this drama is tedious and unconvincing.
The work of the script is very weak and unsubtle, and most of its characters are emotionally disabled piled up with all sorts of melodramatic contrivances to stretch the 90 minutes the movie has. Honestly it's a bad film.

Like the new Mother's Day movie, movies like this one still continues to fall apart to be one of the worst Mother's Day gifts ever, but it's still better than the new Mother's Day movie anyways.
