The New York Times
To his credit, Mr. Ropelewski comes up with fairly novel forms of mayhem and makes an effort to tie up most of the loose ends when the film is over.

Entertainment Weekly
The tacky New Jersey cousin with the nauseous cat, the gold-digging sister, the drug-running nephew — these are cruel cartoons, as grating to the viewer as they are to their hosts. Tucked between the pratfalls, though, is some surprisingly deft comedy.

Фильм отличный, игра актеров великолепна, смотрится на одном дыхании. Советую.

Gauged on a count of wit or originality this doesn't even register.

In Madhouse, writer-director Tom Ropelewski doesn't so much serve up an idea as force-feed it down our gullets. It takes a game bird to sit through the entire movie. [16 Feb 1990, p.K]

The madness of Madhouse simply eludes me. [16 Feb 1990]

It's depressing to see attractive performers like Alley and Larroquette work so hard to such little effect on their vacations from TV. [16 Feb 1990, p.G14]

Madhouse is excruciating fluff for moviegoing masochists. It's what bad cinephiles can expect in the cineplexes of hell. No, it's probably already on video there.

that is fun and entertaining, but not overly memorable. Kevin James stars as Griffin Keyes, a zookeeper who can suddenly talk to animals. The movie has some humorous moments, especially with the voice talents of Nick Nolte, Sylvester Stallone, and Cher as the zoo animals. The plot is predictable, but the film's lighthearted tone and colorful visuals make it a pleasant watch. Overall, "Zookeeper" is a decent choice for a family movie night or a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news.
