Often draped over each other like a pair of gorgeous statues, O’Donnell and Corrin strike palpable chemistry throughout, selling both their desire for one another and the consequent love born out of it believably.

Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre consegue aqui fazer uma boa adaptação para um romance bem água com açúcar, numa Inglaterra de época.
Retratando a aristocracia britânica, o filme não perde tempo, a cena de guerra em qe o Sr. Chatterley acaba ficando paralisado da cintura pra baixo passa rápido demais, e logo a trama mostra a que veio: a impossibilidade do casal ter filhos, e o próprio marido abre uma brecha para que a esposa possa contornar a situação.
As locações e o figurino estão muito bons, mas o roteiro entrega o enquadramento e o óbvio quase sempre. Mesmo as cenas de sexo soam burocráticas.
Ao menos tem um bom ritmo e há realmente química com o amante, mas não é exatamente uma surpresa, é apenas mais um filme bem feitinho e sem erros grotescos.

'Lady Chatterley's Lover' is an erotically charged romantic drama that succumbs to a boring story and an unfocused approach. Although it is interesting to tell a tale of female satisfaction, the film is soon overshadowed by a social subplot that tries to give it a subtext that never finds its place. Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell shine together, but his character doesn't have the same development as hers. Netflix urgently needs to shorten its projects; many scenes in this one are unnecessary. In any case, fans of erotic cinema will find here something that will surely interest them.

This adaptation does not allow for the energy and primal healing quality of sexuality. The movie’s grief of tone finds no antidote in the exuberance of this physical connection. The rhapsodic language of Lawrence’s text gives way to the spectacle of grinding between two average-looking mortals.

It’s the refreshingly modern and tender depiction of intimacy and pleasure that will stay with me. After years upon years of sex scenes that are steeped in the male gaze or are shoehorned in to attract the money of horny youngsters who have no real interest in the story, it’s about time we treat sex with the tenderness, openness, and grace that it deserves on film — and this is exactly what Lady Chatterley’s Lover does.

Lawrence’s novel may have been shocking when it was published — most famously, it was the subject of a major obscenity trial in Britain — but it is not shocking now, no matter how frank the sex scenes. So any adaptation needs more to distinguish it than heaving bodies, however attractive.

I read the book was considered to be a very interesting sensual feminist look, but if so, maybe I missed it in its source material because what I saw in this adaptation was a story that tries to be both romantic and erotic but drops any depth to become a kind of escapism for those who want to get turned on, but don't want to see sex explicitly.
