The spontaneous performances of the duo are half the battle for the success, but definitely, Ms. Israel is also influential and decisive as she merges both the comedy and drama genres with gracious artistry.

This gently humorous, fiercely honest indie film is a step forward in the quest for a move inclusive Hollywood, which seems to one of the themes of the cultural moment. Some may dismiss it as identity politics. But movies like this prove that it’s about broadening our scope and deepening our understanding.

A touching, sweet romantic comedy with a definite edge that takes chances other films in this genre probably could not get away with. The heartfelt romance between the developmentally challenged leads comes across as nothing but genuine while successfully maintaining a high degree of irreverence and unpredictability. This charming offering from director Rachel Israel definitely pushes its share of limits while pushing one's funny bone virtually nonstop from start to finish. A flat-out winner here.

Keep the Change is not a seamlessly crafted movie, but it’s awfully tenderhearted and thoroughly disarming. It deserves to be widely seen.

With a surprisingly compassionate eye, the film susses out the comic and tragic elements borne from the daily struggle of living with autism.

Keep the Change acknowledges that people with disabilities can sometimes be largely responsible for the biggest problems they face, just like the rest of us — and it doesn't need to be Pollyannaish to believe those problems are solvable.

“Change” finds humanity, a sweet moment or two (rare) and some good-natured laughs at the misperceptions and misunderstandings that occur when on-the-spectrum meets off-the-spectrum, and even among people all on the same wavelength.

Listed as a romantic comedy but this movie is nothing like a typical rom-com. It is about people on the autism spectrum and other forms of personality disorders. David who loves making inappropriate jokes meets Sara at a support group meeting. Sara is a very outgoing person who communicates mostly with a set of cliches, and that ticks David off. Initially. The movie looks and feels authentic and honest, sometimes even brutal.
All people who play autistic folks do in fact have autism. That allows us to look inside their lives and understand it better what it takes to live with a personality disorder. They learn to endure shame and disappointment to live through. This movie is definitely not for every audience but I enjoyed watching it with a mixture of warmth and sadness.
