Directors Teng Cheng and Li Wei have dedicated serious attention to creating a stunning dramatic atmosphere for a story that, truth be told, is still plenty confusing to non-Chinese audiences.

Impressively for a piece of foundation-stage universe building, Jiang Ziya manages to hint at a world beyond the frame without mitigating its individual pleasures.

Everything is epic about this animation, or Donghua as the chinese say it, which roughly translates as "moving painting" and is the equivalent to the japanese Anime. Its grandeur comes from storyline, music, characterization, the message, and ofcourse the animation. It's a rollercoaster ride experience, with a message of piety and moral righteousness in grand proportions. Truly one epic scene after another from beginning to the very last end!

Nice movie. The story is great but is a bit confusing with so many names. Visually stunning. Got a lot of emotions after the middle of the movie. The translation is really good, the voices over too. Beautiful soundtrack. Parts of the ending make more or less sens. I give it 82%. A nice animation film.

Jiang Ziya is a big story, an incredibly complex mythos not unlike Hercules, and unfortunately it never finds its beat. Like many films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the story of Jiang Ziya is far more concerned with big epic punches rather than complex character weaving, and earned pathos.

This film features astounding art direction, character design, environments, lighting, animation, and action choreography. It is so beautiful to watch! However, it is mired in old school Chinese storytelling that is hard to follow, a bit nonsensical, and overly dramatic. The best storytelling in the entire film happens in a post-credit sequence with lots of heart and humor.
