While its mode of argumentation gets weaker as the standard-issue boy-meets-girl-meets-carpe-diem plot progresses, the appealing cast and brisk running time help “Jexi” not wear out its welcome.

Lucas and Moore write some whiplash funny lines, and since the film is just a throwaway, you can enjoy it on a trivial synthetic revenge-of-the-nerd level.

It would be easier to buy Jexi’s more intentional absurdities if its reality wasn’t so elastic, stretching to accommodate poorly staged large-scale slapstick.

Surely, bland cultural insights can’t defeat a film whose main attraction is the promise of stupid, raunchy fun? Reader, Jexi fails even at that, as it awkwardly struggles across its slim running time to land a single one of its existentially painful, seemingly bot-generated jokes.

Jexi feels hopelessly out of step with the moment. Despite its subject matter, it’s a flip phone movie in a smart phone world.

Jexi is such a dumb, lazy film that it might have even the most ardent cinephile reaching for their device, ready to defend their defection to the dark side when faced with this clunker of a comedy.

This was hilarious twist on a modern movie, especially since everyone is on their phone all the time! It is ridiculous and laugh out loud cute and funny! Enjoyable 90 break from reality right now.

A funny insecure guy's phone takes on a life of it's own. At first it helps him with stuff, including talking to girls. But soon after it develops a crush on him and will stop at nothing to have him to itself. It sounds like a horror movie but its more of a comedy. Rose Byrne is hilarious as the voice of Jexi and cutie Adam Devine is fun as the lead. But although the movie is funny it never takes the promising concept where it could go. Instead we are left with a lot of mediocrity and some occasional inspired bits here and there. 6/10

Maybe they were not top-flight jokes but I laughed. Hilarious application voice.

Why does Adam Devine still get leading roles?
I mean he's like Rebel Wilson, playing the same character over and over again.

There's a cultural divide here. I'm an older Gen Z watching with my Baby Boomer parents, who are in **** stitches over this movie whereas I am writing a 0 star review on metacritic for a movie that I am watching currently. This **** seriously ****
