Ultimately, David is a strong, solid film for kids. But I can’t help feeling the filmmakers were holding back on the true glory of God in this story.

A well-produced, visually impressive, character-driven fable about the man who would be king.

It comes off, it plays and it entertains. And the impressive, high-end Sunrise Animation Studio production values — realistic landscapes, clever character designs and tje scale of a capital city under construction (Gibeah, pre-Jerusalem) — are just the icing on the cake.

There’s plenty of brotherly betrayal, double-crossing and other juicy Bible stuff, but it’s let down rather by David’s woefully bland characterisation: pretty to look at, brave, and possessing the psychological depth of a daisy.

Faith, “David” has in spades; soul, not so much.

It can be a preachy and po-faced movie, to be sure, but a handsome one.

David may be a towering figure of biblical lore, but this telling of a chapter of his story is not merely animated, it’s cartoonish.

When the movie tries to be serious, it does impress. Its up there with Prince of Egypt, glad to finally see a film somewhat follow the example of that movie. You see those negative reviews? You see how they didnt even write an explanation? They probably hating because the movie is Christian.

one of the best by the studio maybe the best and its such a great story with great animation and music and while the story of David and Goliath is well known what happened after isn't as well known

Great movie hat give strong old school Disney vibes without the modern wokeness that Disney has been adding in there modern movies

As a Christian, too many Christian movies ****. They try to appeal to non-Christians and non-moviegoers, or go way into Christian stereotypes, that it becomes annoying to watch. This movie is not only a very accurate adaptation of the original story, but it is also very well animated and voiced. For an animated film, the cinematography is also very well done. When I saw that Goliath had six fingers on each hand, I knew that they weren't messing around when it came to small details like that. I also like how they went past the Goliath story, as many movies or shows end directly after the fight. Although a kids' movie, it is very much made for all ages in the best way possible. Highly recommend to Christians or anyone open to religious stories like this one, which is one of my favorites. Note - Modern Israel and Ancient Israel are very different. Modern Israel is a country, while Ancient Israel is an area that includes the general area of modern Israel and Palestine. Anyone saying this is pro-Israel is doing that just to hate the movie. I am saying this as a pro-Palestine supporter. That is why it does not, in fact, affect my rating at all.
