While most movies of this type simply peter out, “Instructions” maintains such an unswerving commitment to its dark purpose that its final, gorgeously tenebrous images will leave you wobbly for days.

This British sci-fi thriller is like the violent offspring of “Black Mirror.”

I have to agree with the other review here in that the movie just doesn't "sell" the characters or reactions well at all. I think the acting though is probably not as bad as the writing. All the characters seem like insane people who have the strangest reaction to any given situation. There's a part where people are freaking out, calling a TV broken, worried about it's ability to turn back on. Why? Is it an old faulty TV? does it have a sticker that says "keep on"? No. It's just supposed to be understood that nobody would ever turn this TV off. This kind of thing continues to happen throughout the movie and while I am not usually a harsh critic, it's like the person who wrote this hasn't ever interacted with anyone but insane racists.

Unfortunately, director Johnny Kevorkian and screenwriter Gavin Williams not only put their Beanstalk-high concept to ill use, but also fail to keep their drama compelling on a scene-to-scene basis.

Really interesting concept and some disturbing images. Unfortunately ruined by the director getting on a soapbox and preaching about everything the left loves to complain about, racism, Christianity, masculinity, patriotism. All are treated as the real "villians" of the movie. Movie gets a "7", but the left wing preaching knocks it down to a 3.

Like many of the Black Mirror / Twilight Zone scenario movies as of late, the writers really have no idea how the come up with an ending. Just like in The Platform, another movie that botches it, the ending is just vaguely mystical and we have to settle for never knowing. Highly unsatisfying.

This movie barely deserves a 2 simply because it could have been great. The setting is amazing but the writing is god awful, really couldn't be much worse than it was. The characters are so dense that it's hard to watch and they make decision that make zero sense whatsoever. Like other reviewers have said the whole cast of characters seem like insane people. They aren't even making poor decisions out of fear, they simply do stupid things for no reason. I'm gonna post this at a 2 before I change my mind and make it a zero. I do not recommend watching for it will put you in a bad mood.

This was so awful, I don't even know where to begin! I had to turn this movie off after 40 painful minutes, but I actually lost all interest at 30 mins when the entire cast injected themselves with the mystery vaccine that fell down the chimney! Horrible plot. Horrible acting. Horrible directing. No action. No adventure. No drama. Boring as hell. A total, complete waste of perfectly good film, not to mention 40 minutes of my life down the toilet that I'll never get back!
