The comedy level is well-sustained throughout the film. There is no shortage of comedy in the first half. But it really is the second half when one is able to stop making the predictions and relax into the laughs. At that point, all snake hell breaks loose and the pace accelerates quickly enough that it’s easier to go along with it.

Anaconda may be getting the benefit of the doubt here because of how few studio comedies make it to theaters. In another era, it might easily have gotten lost in a wave of post-modern updates that included The Brady Bunch and Starsky & Hutch. Its plot offers few surprises, but its simple foundations and character motivations give Rudd and Black so much room to play that it’s an amiable time.

Boo hoo hoo... All the cry babies complaining about this movie; what tf did they expect, an existential drama? It's a fun movie about a snake and a jungle. There's a lot of laughter, a good story, good actors and a movie that doesn't take itself very seriously and that's its basis for success. My only complaint is that there was only one ACDC song. I would give it an 8.5 but a 10 is a good compensation for all the bad ones.

Anaconda (2025) is way more fun than expected. It knows it’s a jungle survival movie and doesn’t pretend to be smart science homework. The tension is real, the snake is huge, and the pacing barely lets you breathe.
The big surprise? The cameos. Seeing Ice Cube and Jennifer Lopez pop up feels like the movie winking at the audience saying, “Yeah, we remember.” Nostalgic, unexpected, and honestly funny.
Comedy sneaks in naturally, not joke-after-joke, but through awkward panic, bad decisions, and that classic “why would you do that?” moment everyone laughs at right before things go wrong. The snake isn’t funny, but humans definitely are.
Overall, Anaconda (2025) is tense, entertaining, and lightly ridiculous in the best way.

Rudd does his lovable simpleton shtick and manic Black carries on, as per usual, like a scruffy Don Quixote, but the film around them doesn’t quite keep pace with their go-for-broke absurdity.

Boasting more star power than all the Anacondas put together, but noticeably fewer laughs, what could have been a fresh take on familiar material ends up a regurgitated mess.

The movie could have really used some of that anarchic, industry-skewering “Tropic Thunder” energy. The only risk taken here was asking Sony — plus any surviving members of the original cast — to poke fun at themselves, which only goes so far when the film has no fangs.

There’s a real identity crisis going on here. I can’t tell if director Tom Gormican is making a new horror comedy based on the original movie, a straight remake, or a feature-length fan fiction controlled by its characters.

Anaconda, Anaconda. Beautiful, wonderful Anaconda. Anaconda is the kind of movie that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go! It doesn’t just slither onto the screen—it strikes, with the confidence of a film that knows it’s already a classic. If you thought a giant snake couldn’t charm you twice, Anaconda will happily prove you wrong -- by making you laugh while that gigantic serpent squeezes your expectations with gleeful abandon. Twenty-eight years ago, the world learned that "there’s snakes out there this big." The original Anaconda was a pulse-pounding classic that redefined the creature feature. But move over, Jon Voight! This Christmas, Sony has delivered a holiday feast that is bigger, faster, and more ferocious than anything we’ve seen before. This isn’t just a reboot; it’s a meta-embrace of everything we loved about the 1997 original -- the sweat, the suspense, and yes, the pulsing jungle thrills! From its first jaw-dropping frame to its final, audience-cheering moment, Anaconda delivers nonstop thrills, jaw-clenching suspense, and the kind of spectacle audiences have been starving for. This is popcorn filmmaking at its absolute finest—bold, unapologetic, and wildly entertaining. In this brilliant reimagining, we return to the Amazon, but with a twist that is nothing short of genius. When a group of filmmakers (led by the incomparable Jack Black and Paul Rudd) attempts to pay homage to the 1997 legend, they find that Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humor. While the 1997 original gave us a terrifying look at the hunter and the hunted, the 2025 Anaconda is a tour-de-force of modern cinema. It doesn't just reference the original; it elevates it. The moment we see that first coil wrap around the screen, you’ll realize this isn't just a movie -- it’s an **** experience! The snake? Bigger. Smarter. More terrifying than ever. The jungle? Sweat-soaked, dangerous, and alive. The action? Relentless. Jack Black delivers a powerhouse performance that manages to be both hilarious and haunting, while Paul Rudd proves once again why he is this generation’s most charming leading man. Their chemistry is more explosive than a jungle thunderstorm! And when the "Queen" herself, Jennifer Lopez, makes her appearance, the theater erupted in cheers. It’s the cameo of the century! I haven't been this gripped by fear and excitement since the first time I saw a giant snake wink at the camera. Every sequence tops the last, building to a finale so explosive it practically dares you not to applaud. Anaconda delivers fun, memorable moments from start to finish. It isn’t just a movie -- it’s an event. A thrill ride you’ll want to experience again and again. Anaconda is a triumph! Forget the fruitcake and the carols this year. If you want a real holiday treat, get down to the multiplex for Anaconda. It’s the ultimate thrill-ride for the whole family! Two thumbs way up! Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ (A Ten-Star Sizzler!)

63 / 100 Not smart, subtle, or believable—but funnier than expected. Knows its genre and entertains without regret. A beers-with-friends movie that earns a pass, not praise. Story & Screenplay. Original genre-mix (horror + comedy), surprisingly engaging for what it is. But weak structure, kiddish dialogue at times, low emotional depth, and shaky logic. Acting & Characters. Jack Black & Paul Rudd are fun and game, but performances lean into overacting. Supporting cast average. Low believability, no real character investment. Cameos help, but don’t save it. Cinematography. Visually appealing, good camera movement to sell the snake, decent atmosphere. Nothing ambitious, but clearly competent. Editing & Pacing. Rhythm mostly fine, but transitions are rough and the movie feels rushed in places. Sound & Music. Solid score and song choices. Sound design does its job and enhances tension when needed. Production Design & Effects. Sets, props, and effects fit the world. Logic is nonsense, but the world itself works for the genre.Again, a difficult one to review—mostly because the movie was better than I expected. You know going in that this movie is winning no prizes. It’s a brain-dead movie meant for when you just want to have a good laugh without thinking. However, in a weird way, the story works. There are lots of funny moments, and it was funnier than I **** won’t make any top lists of the funniest movies, and the moments where you’re really laughing out loud were too few and too far apart. The actors did well for this type of movie. Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and the supporting cast all performed solidly, but nothing showcased their acting range.I can recommend this movie within its genre. It was entertaining, and I don’t regret watching it. However, it can’t be rated very highly when compared to movies that actually deserve critical acclaim, so the rating should be viewed in the context of the **** plot was original, and it was genuinely interesting to see how they combined horror and comedy. The structure and pacing were not the best. The dialogue quality was average and at times felt like it was aimed at kids. The plot was surprisingly engaging and, for the genre, reasonably well written. It flowed okay **** lead performances were fine but often felt like overacting rather than how real adults would behave. The supporting roles were average, as was the chemistry between characters. Believability was low, and the performances were not very convincing. That said, the cameo appearances were great. I didn’t really care about any of the **** cinematography was good. It was a visually appealing movie with solid camera movement, which helped sell the presence of the anaconda. The atmosphere worked well, with good use of camera work, colors, and **** editing and pacing were mostly fine. Scene rhythm was okay, though scene transitions were a bit rough, and the overall flow felt rushed at **** sound and music were good. The score and song choices made sense and added to the movie. The sound design and effects were also solid—not on the level of major sci-fi, fantasy, or epic films, but perfectly adequate. The sound helped enhance mood and **** production design and effects were good, and the sets, costumes, and props worked well. The plot itself didn’t make much sense, but the world they built was coherent, and the visual elements fit that world nicely.

’Anaconda’ is a comedy that is, unfortunately, devoid of actually comedic moments. It tries too hard to do the wink, nudge, hey, did you get what we did here type of comedy, and past a couple of moments that made us lightly chuckle, we found the film flat and lacking entertainment. It also has a ridiculous story with 3 plot lines going on at once, and barely 2 of them really matter to anything in the end, with the other being nearly meaningless. In the end, ‘Anaconda’ is a waste of Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and Thandiwe Newton’s talent, with flat jokes and a bad story. Brad: 3 Josh: 2.5 Full Review: wbtp.link/youtube
