50 First Dates

The film feels like a natural successor to "The Wedding Singer's" strange blend of humor and humanity, a gently silly comedy that's actually romantic without making anyone sick in the process. And that just might be a first.

As a comedy, 50 First Dates is standard Sandler, but as a love story it left me pleasantly buzzed, if not quite punch-drunk.

I don't think 50 First Dates is a great movie, or a particularly funny one, but I admired its romanticism and its gentle plea for the acceptance of difference. Of how many romantic comedies can you say they are sweet and disturbing?

Although its goofy high-concept premise won't bear much scrutiny, it offers a less predictable ride than their first pairing, and lush Hawaiian locations to boot.

50 First Dates is working awfully hard to be romantic and not hard enough to be a comedy.

What do you get when you mix Adam Sandler with SPAM gags, a trained vomiting walrus, a wall-to-wall soundtrack of calypso covers of 1980s pop hits, and Rob Schneider in native-Islander brownface? You get a pretty crappy movie, but for one major mitigating factor: Drew Barrymore.

Has nothing going for it -- and much going against it.

Now there's an early Sandler comedy with a sympathetic side inside him. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy all just portray him as a crazy person, but in 50 First Dates he isn't that crazy as in those movies, although some of the juvenile yet funny jokes does make him a bit wild. This is, in my opinion, one of the best Adam Sandler movies of all time, and it largely benefits from its unique and heartwarming story.

Henry Roth is a man afraid of commitment until he meets the beautiful Lucy. They hit it off and Henry think he's finally found the girl of his dreams until discovering she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the next day. (6)

not Sandlers best work but one of the most memorable. based in Hawaii this Marine Biologist falls in love with a **** whos memory is wiped every night. funny quips and one liners, some of the humor is funnier if you're from the islands and have a good idea how the lingo works and hawaii with its "pigon" accent Rob pulls off the typical braddah with his kids drinkin on a friday night. fall in love over and over with this.

50 First Dates goes home alone. The movie begins with an interesting idea that develops at a monotonous pace, with laughs few and far between. A very poor execution by Mr. Sandler.

Sandler usually makes stupid movies but every now and then hits the bulls-eye with a hilarious movie, unfortunately this is not the case, it's very bad story. Sandler being a Casanova thing!! really? and honestly the best thing that Drew Barrymore has ever done it's to appear in E.T. Far more better things to watch!
