Welcome to Hanwell is a free roam horror adventure. You start the adventure off pulling yourself out of a morgue freezer drawer, then getting chased by some hulking monstrosity as you try to escape from tunnels connected to the room you wake up in. Once you've gotten out, you now have the Town of Hanwell before you to explore. There are 5 main locations, and a 6th once you've finished the rest, where the slightly thin story finally unfolds for you. What Hanwell lacks in story depth, it well makes up for in ambiance, horror done right. The soundtrack is just as dark as the game, keeping this tension in the air, making you feel a bit edgy, then the combat music kicks in and deepens the dread. The background is filled with infra-sound, you can feel more than hear, giving the feeling that there is something there. Combat is heavy, and feels a bit unpolished as you have one attack swing, with everything, making some kills very trying. There are over 150 collectable items hidden in the town of Hanwell for you to find as you explore the area. I feel like it was the journey, not the destination that makes this game worth the play. Welcome to Hanwell got the feel right, a must have for horror fans.
