Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

It’s a bold first step on the new terrain for Ubisoft. The game is enjoyable, offers some interesting mechanics and lasts for long enough, but is bland as a whole. The characters lack personalities, the city could use more distinctness and the story is instantly forgettable. [07/2014, p.46]

Overall, it is almost without a doubt the best platformer that has popped up on the current generation of consoles and is a bedrock on which Ubisoft could build a brand to remember.

Dark but cool story with dark but cool graphics lol. The gang sidequests are what made this game so fun. Felt like John Wick lol, well i prefer Aiden so whatever.

Felt like playing a GTA and Assassin's Creed hybrid game where you are a hacker. Fun game mechanics, interesting story that is easy to follow, what to ask more from a game. Would recommend.

Watch_Dogs combines an astonishingly detailed world, a gripping storyline, creative game mechanics, a myriad of missions and activities, and improvisational tactical sandbox gameplay to create a truly next-generation open world game. Phenomenal. No other word for it.

It raises social and governmental questions around a person’s right to privacy. It delivers combat, stealth, story, and an incredible amount of side content to bring the whole world to life. I’m amazed at what the team at Ubisoft has delivered here, and I’m glad that they treated the hacker world with more respect and attention to detail than any other game or movie to date.

Greatest game in the series by far. Everything about this game is great, story is original, the hacking is easy to use and you don't need excessive steps to activate it, Aiden pierce is easily one of the best protagonists of all time. Wish Ubisoft didn't go woke, they made some of the best top 100 games during their prime.

Watch Dogs has dull characters spewing agonizing dialogue, but gameplay-wise it gets most of its ingredients right. Even the simplified hacking feels like something new. [June 2014]

Watch Dogs comes close to earning Best in Show, but falters on some critical open-world elements. Bring on the sequel! [July 2014, p74]

The main character has the charisma of a wet piece of cardboard, but other than that, Watch Dogs is solid and a great foundation for Ubisoft to build on in the future. Having spent many hours in virtual Chicago as Aiden Pearce, we’re only hungry for more.

The game is a sort of inverse of Grand Theft Auto 5: triumphant in ambition but faltering in execution. Nowhere is this more apparent than in those NPC bios, which can’t seem to decide if they’re funny or serious.

Even though I feel its story is often weak and its action isn't that different from other games in the genre, I still enjoyed my time with Watch Dogs. It turns out that the old stuff still works, and the strong-but-standard mission design kept me entertained, most of the time. It's rough around the edges, though, so if you don't settle for anything less than the best, you'll probably be disappointed...But hey, Watch Dogs 2? That'll probably be pretty cool.

It was a thrilling game
One of the most ambitious games to be released in the 2010s The setting being in Chicago feels alive with those flickering streetlights The revenge-thriller structure and it has guilt, morality, control. Playing as this broken guilt ridden character obsessed with control in a world run by data. A man broken by the death of his neice. Ngl it’s underrated and a definite play.

very creative game in Ubisoft's library it strives in the fact there's very few competitors in this niche hacking genre its biggest struggle is its formulaic and repetitive story and game play every thing feel like its cycle and repeat would recommend to check it out if its ever on sale for cheap

How people thought this game was as good as I’ve been told I’m unsure, characters are flat, missions are repetitive and the driving mechanics are just awful, it’s just enter another restricted area, do a bit of hacking, get involved in a high speed chase. Feels like a game that wanted to capitalise off being a cheap GTA clone so added a hacking mechanic with a worse than poor storyline to justify it.

Pros - the various hacking skills feel cool to use - bunch of cool ideas that unfortunately go unrealized Cons - the driving is awful - Aiden is monotone and boring throughout most of the story - the story itself is generic Not much to say about the original Watch Dogs. It is just the most bog standard Ubisoft video game you will play. Open world, meh story and a bunch of side activities. On the topic of those. So many side activities require you to drive. And my god is this driving one of the most broken things ever created. I personally believed that it was created by a group of chimps that thought cars stick to the ground like they weigh thousand tonnes and move like ice skates. I can't overstate how bad it feels to drive in this game. And you are going to be doing a lot of driving. Other than that the game is a standard cover shooter that is beyond braindead easy though looks good at times. And that is the thing with this game that pisses me off the most. This game has all the potential and no execution. Everything is half assed or down right boring. The story is a cliche revenge plot. The protagonist is a brooding monotone dude who has one or two good moments. The villains… Eh, who cares? Not memorable to survive in your head two days after you roll the credits. All in all, Watch Dogs is a bunch of good ideas and promises that go unfulfilled. Shame, I'd rather play the game from the trailers.

You assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a notorious hacker and former thug, whose criminal past lead to a viol... Read More
