Despite its engaging story and charming characters, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido undergoes a significant setback when you take its gameplay and controls into consideration.

If you are looking for a charming and damn right silly plot, and you don’t mind paying a little more for your puzzle action to have it on the Switch, then I feel you will certainly find a lot to like with Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido and its captivating bizarre world of sushi eating puzzle combat.

An very good game, with unique anime and ost. As a fellow sushi lover myself I was glad to have played this game... it is a bit repetitive though

Sushi Striker is a diamond in the rough in Nintendo’s Switch lineup. This offbeat and peculiar puzzle game takes a ridiculous concept and manages to shape it into a shockingly deep, balanced, and varied low-key masterpiece. I was looking forward to checking this game out since it was shown off, but I never expected it to be this good. Don’t sleep on Sushi Striker, but be mindful that you’ll probably really want to eat sushi after playing it for a while.

Sushi Striker offers surprising depth for a puzzle game that almost anyone could enjoy, as well as a substantial single player story with some great twists and turns. Despite some niggles with the game’s various control schemes, the core gameplay is fun, frenetic and fast-paced. Make no mistakes, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is one of the most well put together puzzle games on the Switch.

Sushi Striker is pure ridiculous fun, and while it leans heavily on its core gameplay loop, it manages to keep things engaging. Nintendo has proven they have a knack for the absurd, and Sushi Striker definitely feels like it could be the foundation of a new series.

Despite a certain repetitiveness and joy-con imperfect controls, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is a delightful variation of the classic Match 3 in Bejeweled style, with some elements nicely taken from Puzzle Quest.

Sushi Striker suffers only one major concern on Nintendo Switch; it is not suitable for gaming in the living room and on a big screen. Designed to be tactile, the best way to play it will be in nomadic mode. This problem aside, we are in front of a good puzzle game that has been carefully developed by Indieszero. A great way to kill time.

While its premise is absurd, Sushi Striker's core action/puzzle mechanics are undeniably fun and initially addictive. It wears a little thin though, with the campaign becoming laborious well before it comes to an end. Thankfully the multiplayer is superb, and is a perfect fit for both the 3DS and the Switch.

It started out good. It soon turned out to only be repetitive grinding until one can beat the next boss. I payed 20$ which was too much for what I got. I think it should have been halved in its length. The soundtrack gets boring and tbh there is no real challenge in grinding until you can beat a boss. There is no real tactics involved and I wish it would have been less grindy and way more diversified. 4/10

An actual mobile game that is on the Switch for way too much money. Should have been $10 at most.
