SUPERHOT : MIND CONTROL DELETE | 2020 | PC | Played for: 12h First game brought the innovative gameplay of time advancing only when you move. This second instalment feels like a DLC pack, but way overstretched. Graphics are clean and simple, synthetic music. Gameplay is still awesome, but less innovative. Felt like a drag and the ending was forced. Play OG and can skip this. Story: 3/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Graphics/Physics: 8/10 Music/Sound: 6/10 Final Score: 6/10

The procedurally generated levels are not as fun as the humanly created ones from the first game. So, of course, play the original game first! But there is still a load of fun to be add.

It's a very fun and easy-to-play game. I'd been waiting for this one since the first Superhot. It doesn't surpass the first installment, but I found it easier to beat and quicker. The other thing that bothered me a bit was having to wait 2.5 hours for the last achievement; it doesn't make sense.

i love new features in this version. everything is fine but its so hard. i archived the game when i saw that i can't spend some levels with trying more than 50 times. I wish this game was a bit easier so I could finish it like the previous version.

Very much a step back from all the innovation and amazing gameplay design the original game brought to the table. Levels feel more like obstacles now, they are more random and you don't feel like you've solved the combat puzzle, when you finish an area. The game is tough, but it's more based on random chance than anything else, since you can't replay levels. I don't think the new roguelike design added much to the gameplay. The new features feel like content for a DLC, there is just not enough novelty present to justify the game. The core gameplay is fun and exciting, but doing the same stuff in the same few environments over and over again felt very tiring. It's like the game is fighting with you, and it always feels like you are just a few more replays away from the next cool thing, that never really arrives.

The core gameplay is fun, turning a shooter into more of a puzzle game. I think I would enjoy it more with out the random generated levels, but I did enjoy the random powerups. I haven't played the original, so I can't compare. It peaked my interest though.

SUPERHOT is a great game in its own right, but turning that already award winning formula into a rogue-like made it really click for me.

Expands the SUPERHOT gameplay formula with a good number of new features and mechanics. If you liked SUPERHOT, you'll like this. It simply is MORE. Can get repetitive though.

Despite its numerous additions it is worse than the first commercial release. Problems with readability, randomness and unbalanced skill choices which do not have any RNG mitigation, so the rogue-lite runs vary wildly difficulty wise and certain deaths are practically unavoidable. Very repetitive, dull structure, vastly overstays its welcome. A better execution of the same concept could have made this a fun sidekick to the first Superhot.

It's more of the same. The game as a whole runs better than the original did. Retreads the same story but does a worse job at it. Some cool new powers but none that I would take instead of more health.

Superhot Is an indie fps shooter game. Game's shooter mechanics are quite simple. There is only basic shooting and throwing mechanics in the game. But still with the fast paced gameplay and basic visual design, game doesn't feel like an immature indie fps. Core Gameplay is based on a wave system. At each level the player suddenly appears in different places, and the enemies (red glass mens) comes through in waves, and player tries to clean waves with environmental objects and some guns which dropped by enemies. The biggest aspect of the game is the slow time mechanics. Time spends really slow when player is not moving. With this game design the player has to think fast as possible to stayin alive. Game has secondary missions which rewards player with some new skills. Even, the player couldn't use all the skills at once this skills provides variety for game design. Game visuals are basic and efficient. The art design is not realistic, it looks more like origami but the visuals are not disturbing at all. And the music's are good enough. The game has a alternate storytelling which is buried in levels, but i was not attracted by story of the game.

I was a huge fan of the original Superhot so when I got Mind Control Delete free as a gift I was looking forward to it. The game play itself is very similar to Superhot and is still a lot of fun. It is one of the only games that can have little story to it that I still enjoy playing through. Sadly outside of the game play Mind Control Delete has found several ways to annoy me to the point that I was happy to be done with the game. Even on it’s last few minutes it was finding ways to not respect my time and introduce ways to sap any enjoyment I had left. The first thing the game did that I loathed was introduce enemies that couldn’t be killed. They spawn randomly, sometimes not at all, and when they do all you can do is try to avoid them. I have always hated enemies I had to run from and in this genre it is inexcusable. The worst part was that they get introduced after you get granted certain powers and later in the game they stop appearing after you are forced to give the powers back. The kicker is that I never used any of these powers, if I had the option to give them back right away and save myself some anger I would have. Later in the game on the very last level you are also forced to give up. You can try to keep battling through the levels but you are forced to give up everything including the ability to move and look around. You are meant to give up until you are past it. Then you are forced to press the “E” button over and over for about 1-2 minutes to manually trigger the “super hot” voice that is usually automatic. There is no reason to force the player to do this but you are forced regardless. After that you have to manually move the cursor up along the code to spell out messages. I should add that even hitting Escape didn’t bring up the main menu, I had to Alt-F4 in order to close the game at this point as I had enough of this ridiculous nonsense. I have heard that the game even forced people to sit through a 2 and a half hour wait unless you wanted to edit a file to skip it. I don’t know whose idea that all of this garbage was but they should be fired as they ruined what could have been a good game. The game play itself was fun, they had to go out of their way to ruin it. The gun play was still top notch and the variety of weapons was good. The red and white graphics style was still pleasing to the eye. The level design was good albeit the levels got repetitive fast as they are overused a lot. I played Mind Control Delete on Linux. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any bugs or glitches. There was a v-sync toggle and one quality setting. The game saved after each node but each one was pretty quick so not having a manual save wasn’t always a huge issue although during the longer nodes it would have been nice. The performance was great and I noticed no lag at all. Game Engine: Unity Graphics API: OpenGL Disk Space Used: 2.5GB Game Version Played: 1.0.1.1.0.3 (40627) Settings Used: High; v-sync on; 1920x1080 GPU Usage: 0-99 % VRAM Usage: 422-689 MB CPU Usage: 3-19 % RAM Usage: 3.3-3.7 GB Frame Rate: 100-144 FPS Overall I was disappointed and left angry and bitter with this game. It did a disservice to Superhot and I can’t recommend it even at the price of free. It is one of the only times I can say that having good game play doesn’t save a game from being bad and that just feels weird to say. I finished the campaign in 13 hours and 6 minutes. My System: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 21.0.3 | Linux Mint 20.3 | Mate 1.26.0 | Kernel 5.4.0-97-generic

It's SUPERHOT. That is all. It's just SUPERHOT. On one hand, the really original combat style remains and is expanded in some ways, each encounter is a bit of a puzzle, the graphics are more **** element with its "colorcoding", the feedback from killing enemies is great. On the other, the AI is still simplistic, the map quality is all over the place, the new modifiers are great in theory, but the implementation is often fairly lackluster and only few of them work well. First off - as mentioned, the graphics style remains - white location, black interactive objects and weapons, red enemies. Despite that, most of the maps are actually surprisingly detailed, though most of the effort inevitably gets wasted as the combat takes most of the focus. Still, I appreciate that the dev(s) put int the effort and did not just keep it completely simplistic. Sound is another matter though. While the weapon and impact sounds are okay, the ambience is lackluster - there is some of it, but it is mostly very indistinct - and there is no music, which is quite an oversight and missed opportunity, some blood pumping music, that would escalate or slow down as the encounters change tempo would work really well. Story wise, the devs tried some sort of mysterious thriller thing. Whatever. It was really bland and did not really catch my interest. The way it is presented through scraps of "code" is also more annoying than alluring. It's a pointless part of the game, and for all intents and purposes, it may as well not have existed at all. It has no bearing on the experience what so ever. Gameplay wise, the game tries to add some twist and turns, on one hand, adding so called "hacks" and "cores" which give you some new abilities, on the other hand, the enemies also gain a couple tricks up their sleeves. Unfortunately, most of the abilities you can gain are pretty much useless. And whereas for cores it does not matter, as you can pick them for each section of the campaign, hacks you get randomly - a couple each section. Unfortunately, as about half of them is literally useless gimmicks, and the remaining useful half is all over the place balance wise, you often get screwed over. I get what they were trying to do - change up the gameplay, force you to make a choice - do I do my usual thing despite not having the best upgrades for it, or do I change it up and try a different playstyle that I got buffs for? However, as mentioned, as at least half of the "hacks" have little to no use because they are gimmicky crap applicable to very unlikely situations and so you get gimped, or rather not buffed at all, but the enemies will always have their new "toys" for you to contend with. The enemies - most of them I liked. There is at least one, however, which is unkillable (as far as I know) and which has really fast attack, making them extremely annoying to deal with. If there is one thing I hate more than bulletspongy enemies, it's invincible enemies. Why do I even fight then, if I can't f-king kill this thing? Like, what's the point? Not like there are any cinematic QTEs in this game either, where they would magically become vulnerable and die after bashing a button for a couple seconds... Speaking of enemies, the AI remains pretty crap. They mostly just run at you and always know where you are. There's nothing else to say. Oh, wait - sometimes the enemies get stuck on some geometry and just stay in that place. The maps are... Well, there's 25 of them in the main part of the game, and then a couple one offs in special sections of the game. You could say that's quite a few. Perhaps it is, but the game is way too long for the amount of maps it has, and so they get reused. A lot. What is worse, is that only about 10 of them appear regularly, the rest only sometimes, meaning that by the end, you will have 10 maps you are really really tired of, and 15 you are starting to be tired of. The maps are generally pretty small too, and the design, from gameplay perspective, is not very good. In most maps, you have one small spot that's just really good for cheesing the encounters, which makes the maps feel even smaller, but trust me, if you ever play this game, you'll use these spots at least a couple times, because you will eventually get tired of the game's crap and will just want to progress ASAP. Then there's a couple pretty balanced, good maps, and a couple that are just outright crap. Anyways, overall, the new features mostly dilute, rather than improve, the original formula. Most of the issues of the original, mainly the simplistic AI, remain. The map design goes from fantastic to craptastic, and there's too few of them for the scope the game attempts, making the game repetitive. In the end, as there are no significant improvements and the main issues remain, and the new content brings a whole batch of its own problems, the only real quality this game has is quantity. The question is, is it enough? Not for me.

Superhot: Mind Control Delete (mcd) takes superhot in a new direction as a rogue-like. Sporting a new look and some stunning animations mcd is just as fun if not more than the original superhot. While there are some complaints about the game just being the same thing over and over, i find that it's best to play this game in spurts or with a level goal in mind. Of course, it can get boring just working your way through the levels (or dying over and over to the stupid dog), but I would recommend trying to the game for yourself.

The game overall is cooler to play compared to it's antecessor; SUPERHOT, even it's funnier to play, the game is very repetitive and you can easily get bored if searching for something intriguing and dynamic to play, the gameplay is fantastic as always with it's classic time mechanic, I really enjoyed playing this game but it could be better...

It's the exact same game as the PC version, what more can I say. The levels may be different, but that's not saying much since the environments are populated with completely white objects. To be frank the art style and gameplay itself are a bit overdone, this is not a very unique game. Contrary to popular belief slowing down time has been a thing in video games for a very long time.

Superhot: Mind Control Delete can get really repetitive after 40 minutes of gameplay. However some fun can be had if you enjoyed the original and just wanted something new. The new hacks system is a welcomed addition and the new enemy types are fun and add a bit of variety to the game. Unfortunately you'll discover that there's very few maps in the game and they recycle them over and over and over again. You'll be doing the exact same thing for hours and you find yourself getting bored pretty quickly, I'd recommend getting this on Gamepass rather than a full purchase. 6/10

Superhot: Mind Control Delete builds upon its predecessor by adding new, creative enemy types along with a host of interesting gameplay features. However, the larger picture direction in which MCD chooses to go leads to a disappointing and overall boring experience. Much of what made Superhot so enjoyable was that every level was carefully, individually crafted. Because of this, playing a level of Superhot in 2016 felt like solving a puzzle, as opposed to mindlessly gunning down enemies. In MCD, levels are procedurally generated, so you will inevitably play the same maps over and over again. There is now an unknown kill quota required to complete each level, along with the player having multiple lives. The entire game design of Superhot was built on the foundation of a one-hit kill system. As a result, MCD feels like an interesting game built on the incorrect foundation—the game falls apart once the novelty of the new features is lost. MCD feels less like puzzle solving and more like slow-motion survival. It only takes one or two hours for MCD to feel boring and repetitive. Additionally, without spoiling anything, the ending was, to me, completely unacceptable.

SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE is a standalone expansion to SUPERHOT. Once again, time only progresses when you move, but there is so much more content in the form of levels, modifications and enemies. Between SUPERHOT: MCD and the original, this game is far more replayable.

Felt a little bit like more of the same. Still an enjoyable time and worth taking a look, if you have played the first and move straight to this you might find it a little repetitive.
